The Fall and Rise of Joseph Smith

The Fall and Rise of Joseph Smith

January 19, 1841 – Joseph Smith receives Section 124 – church has lost the fulness of the priesthood (1834) will be rejected if they do not build the Nauvoo House

The Nauvoo House never even came close to being made, let alone completed.

March 1841 – Joseph Smith receives Section 125 – church no longer considered Saints

The Lord’s lack of recognition that the members of the church are Saints is why I believe the church was (already) rejected by this point. However, they are still given commandment to gather if they choose to keep the commandments. This is because the Lord will work a reformation among them before delivering them over to Satan. (BoC 4:5-6) During the rejection of the church, Joseph Smith completes his atonement offering. Yet even after his death, the members continued in disobedience and a reformation was never realized.

April 5, 1841 – Marries Louisa Beaman, beginning Nauvoo polygamy

In his 1838-recount of history, Joseph admitted to displaying the weakness of human nature. Before being visited by Moroni, he was praying for forgiveness of his “follies.” (JS-History 1:29) I believe Joseph was hinting—by his use of wording—that the weakness he inherited was that of lust. D&C 64:14-15 corroborates with 35:7 to suggest that the folly of the Gentiles—the sins of a crooked and perverse people—is connected with adultery. After the apostasy of the Gentiles in 1834, Joseph was susceptible to sin in a way he had not yet experienced. Christ had removed his name from the church—May 3, 1834—removing the fulness of the priesthood. Joseph became liable to commit adultery, not just experience lust, because he was then married. I expect the reason he was married previous to his ministry was to orchestrate Joseph’s opportunity to commit—or not commit—the sin of the Gentiles. Due to his relentless callings and never-ending flow of revelation, he was in constant communion with God. With the 1834 apostasy, this changed, and Joseph stopped abiding in the Lord and sinned with Fanny Alger. However, he was made clean in Section 110 as the Lord appeared in mercy to him at the Kirtland Temple. This enabled him to perform the atonement statute in Nauvoo as an unspotted lamb. I find it unlikely that Joseph began to commit adultery (again) as early as the recorded date of marriage for Louisa Beaman—although one piece of evidence does exist to suggest so. Instead, I find it most compelling to conclude this arrangement was originally a sealing in which there was no intention for sexual impropriety. I’ve theorized that the marriages in which no sexual relations occurred may have in fact been a blessing unto future generations who would be joined to Joseph Smith’s “house” in the which a special anointing was placed upon. (D&C 124:56-57) The marriages that can be absolutely determined as having been sexually motivated only seemed to have occurred between February to May of 1843. Benjamin Winchester speculated sexuality to have taken place in this time-span between Joseph and Louisa, and I feel this makes the most sense in the context of all subsequent plural marriages contracted by Joseph.

June 1, 1841 – Sidney Rigdon publicly pronounced as a prophet, though date of ordination not known

We have to announce that Sidney Rigdon has been ordained a Prophet, Seer, and a Revelator.”

-Times and Seasons

D&C 43:3-4 tells us that no one will receive revelation or commandments except Joseph, unless he stops abiding in the Lord. If he does stop abiding in the Lord he will only have the power to appoint another to receive revelation in his stead. Although Joseph may have believed his brother Hyrum was to be his successor, Hyrum fell for polygamy even going so far as to command the High Council in 1843 to obey the revelation commanding polygamy. Sidney Rigdon was the true successor who could have given true revelations to the church. Upon entering into a sealing ritual with Louisa Beaman, Joseph could no longer receive revelation, which is why his revelation on polygamy was not a commandment to the church. In Section 127, Joseph ascribes himself only as a prophet and seer—with no mention of being a revelator. His attempt to provide a legitimate revelation in 1843 was futile.

July 1841 – Brigham Young returns from mission and is told to leave family no more

Send my word abroad, and take especial care of your family.”

Although I in times past have believed this revelation to be a fabrication of Brigham to justify his lack of future missionary service, I now believe it to be authentic. Because the church no longer had authority to preach the gospel—having been rejected as a church of Christ—they were still called to bring a knowledge of the fulness of the gospel to the world. This is why Brigham is given the mandate to “send” the word, not preach and not publish. That Brigham began to publish new—or tamper with old—revelations is the sign that the generation was delivered over to Satan. This deliverance up to the enemy was destined to last four generations.

July 1841-February 1843 – Marries fourteen women wherein there is no evidence of sexuality

-Starting in 1842, these men engage in plural marriage: Theodore Turley, Brigham Young, Jonathan Holmes, Reynolds Cahoons, Heber C. Kimball, Willard Richards, Thomas Bullock, William D. Huntington

February-May 1843 – Marries six women all of which sexuality is said to have occurred

-Starting in March, these men engage in plural marriage: Lorenzo Dow Young, Orson Pratt, Joseph Bates Noble, Orson Hyde, James Bird

June-August 1843 – Parley Pratt, John Adams, William Felshaw, Amasa M. Lyman, Hyrum Smith

With the inclusion of Orson Hyde, the Pratt brothers, and Hyrum Smith, I conclude this to be a fulfillment of 2 Nephi 27:5…the eyes of the prophets and seers were covered due to the iniquity of the people.

August 12, 1843 – Revelation on plural marriage given to High Council

Now, you that believe this revelation and go forth and obey the same shall be saved, and you that reject it shall be damned.”

-Hyrum Smith

September 20, 1843 – Marries Malissa Lot – last sexual partner of Joseph Smith

Q. Were you married to my father?

A. Yes. …

Q. Was you a wife in very deed?

A. Yes.

Q. Why was there no increase, say in your case?

A. Through no fault of either of us, lack of proper conditions on my part probably, or it might be in the wisdom of the Almighty that we should have none. The Prophet was martyred nine months after our marriage.”

October 5, 1843 – Joseph recorded by William Clayton saying:

No man shall have but one wife.”

After having sexual relations with Malissa Lot, I assume Joseph repented thereafter and realized the wrongfulness of polygamy, accepting himself to have been deceived in the manner. This is why evidence supports a conspiracy that Joseph fought polygamy and was wrongfully accused of being involved with its inception. He did in fact fight against it, but this occurred most heavily after Malissa Lot, during the last nine months of his life.

November 2, 1843 – Marries Fanny Young, fifty-six-year-old sister to Brigham Young

John Taylor, Edwin D. Woolley, Erastus Snow, John D. Lee, Ezra T. Benson (who eventually replaces non-polygamist John E. Page) become polygamists; William Smith said to have become polygamist during Joseph’s lifetime

This final sealing of Joseph Smith suggests that Joseph may have continued to believe in the truthfulness of sealing arrangements. Perhaps his marriage to Brigham’s older, widowed, sister, was an attempt to promulgate his concept of eternal families in the which there is no license to have conjugal relations with multiple women. It is by this time that the Law of Adoption has been introduced, and sealings between men occur obviously with no sexual motivation to do so. Although it cannot be determined if sealings are to ever be an ordinance of the fulness of times, I imagine Joseph began by this point to correct course and return back to what he believed his original intention was: to create bonds between families and enjoin the Saints as one people through sacred covenants. Although Joseph was guilty of committing adultery with other women as part of his atonement offering, he recognized by this point that he had made a terrible mistake with his revelation on polygamy. The high leaders of the church, having entered into polygamy, had not yet began having children through their plural sealings to women—except, perhaps, Heber C. Kimball. This set the scene for what would occur after the death of Joseph Smith: the Saints could either accept Sidney Rigdon who could receive revelation and sort out the matter of polygamy, or they could choose the Quorum of Twelve and be delivered over to Satan. By choosing the leadership of the Twelve, polygamy would explode into an ordinance of higher exaltation and the church would remain rejected.

Brigham Young – Bears polygamous children only after Joseph’s martyrdom

Willard Richards – Bears polygamous children only after Joseph’s martyrdom

Orson Pratt – Bears polygamous children only after Joseph’s martyrdom

Orson Hyde – Bears polygamous children only after Joseph’s martyrdom

Parely Pratt – Bears polygamous children only after Joseph’s martyrdom

Amasa Lyman – Bears polygamous children only after Joseph’s martyrdom

John Taylor – Bears polygamous children only after Joseph’s martyrdom

Ezra T. Benson – Bears polygamous children only after Joseph’s martyrdom

George A. Smith and Wilford Woodruff – Marry and bear polygamous children after martyrdom

Lyman Wight – Marries and bears polygamous children after martyrdom as a member of the Quorum but excommunicated in 1848

By not heeding God’s anointed servant, Sidney Rigdon, the Saints rulers—from Brigham to Lyman—are covered by God as were the seers, Joseph and Hyrum. For not hearkening to God’s voice, they are all moved out of their place in Nauvoo as warned (D&C 124:45) and have remain ungathered for four generations, receiving the judgment of God upon their heads. (D&C 124:50-53)

February 1, 1844 – Times and Season announcement:

As we have lately been credibly informed, that an Elder of the Church of Jesus Christ, of Latter-day Saints, by the name of Hiram Brown, has been preaching Polygamy, and other false and corrupt doctrines, in the county of Lapeer, state of Michigan. This is to notify him and the Church in general, that he has been cut off from the church, for his iniquity; and he is further notified to appear at the Special Conference, on the 6th of April next, to make answer to these charges.”

-Signed by Joseph and Hyrum

May 12, 1844 –

I had rather be a fallen true prophet, than a false prophet; when a man goes about prophesying and commands men to obey his teachings, he must be either a true or false prophet.”

Joseph Smith did not believe himself to be a false prophet because he did not command men to obey the plural marriage revelation he received, his brother Hyrum did. However, he realizes that he may have been a fallen true prophet.

May 21, 1844 –

I do not want you to think that I am very righteous, for I am not. God judges men according to the use they make of the light which He gives them.”

In humility, Joseph accepts that he is not righteous. Considering the fact that he was given more light than any of they—to whom he was speaking—and committed a malignant sin against the wife of his youth, Joseph realizes that he is not as righteous as he wishes he could have been.

By this point, Joseph may have realized that his actions in Nauvoo were the result of the atonement statute he was called to participate in. I do not believe his May 21 statement was a reference to his Nauvoo actions, but to his sin of adultery committed in Kirtland with Fanny Alger.

May 26, 1844 –

What a thing it is for a man to be accused of committing adultery, and having seven wives, when I can only find one. I am the same man, and as innocent as I was fourteen years ago. […] I am at all times willing to give up everything wrong, for I wish this people to have a virtuous leader.”

This is what Joseph attempted to do. He gave up the abounding and effortless opportunities to commit sin and stopped committing adultery. Although he lied and said he was innocent of the charges held against him, this may have been a genuine claim. Perhaps his repentance emboldened this, and he did feel innocent of his crimes by the point of this sermon.

June 1844 – Hyrum tells the Nauvoo City Council that the revelation he had read to them a year earlier, “had no reference to the present time”

It appear that Hyrum realized that he too had been deceived. Like Joseph a month earlier, it does appear that Hyrum is lying in this instance. They both probably (albeit wrongfully) believed that lying was the only way to undo the damage they had been instruments in doing. Or perhaps it wasn’t a lie…perhaps the original revelation—the one that William Law says Section 132 does not accurately represent—was a revelation that did in fact constitute the law of polygny that existed within the law of Moses and carnal commandments.

April 6, 1844 –

I feel in closer communion with God and better standing with God than ever I felt before in my life.”

Around this time, William Marks recants: “Joseph, however, became convinced before his death that he had done wrong; for about three weeks before his death, I met him one morning in the street, and he said to me, “Brother Marks… We are a ruined people.” I asked, how so? He said: “This doctrine of polygamy, or Spiritual-wife system, that has been taught and practiced among us, will prove our destruction and overthrow. I have been deceived.”

April 7, 1844 – The King Follet Sermon

I want your prayers and faith, the instruction of Almighty God, and the gift of the Holy Ghost, that I may set forth things that are true and easily comprehended and that will carry the testimony to your hearts. Pray that the Lord may strengthen my lungs and stay the winds.”

I want you all to know God, to be familiar with him. And if I can bring you to him, all persecutions against me will cease.”

After studying all four accounts of the King Follet sermon, I have determined that Joseph did not teach false doctrine on this fateful day. I will not endeavor to explain what Joseph was trying to make clear. That Joseph’s words were misinterpreted to suggest God the Father had a God above him—or that God was once a fallible sinful man—is the result of an apostate people whose ears were not able to hear the truth. Joseph was not able to bring God to the people on April 7, 1844; and so persecutions against him did not cease. He fulfilled the atonement statute and died at Carthage Jail on June 27, 1844.

I believe that Joseph went to his death, truly having, “a conscience void of offence towards God.” (D&C 135:4)

His attempt to teach truth unto the people during his King Follet sermon is the perfect representation of his entire ministry. Everything Joseph did those fourteen years was either rejected or misinterpreted.

*

You never knew my heart,” said Joseph, at the close of the Follet sermon. And he was right: those of that generation did not; and those who did at one point understand Joseph had their eyes covered by God due to the iniquity of the world.

But today stand a great many who do know Joseph’s heart.

We know he meant well—even if he did in fact make a serious mistake in Kirtland. We’ve studied God’s word and understand that Joseph’s life in Nauvoo does not actually represent the man himself. We know Joseph loved God and felt great sorrow for his sins, as we all have for our own.

I look forward to the day he ascends from spiritual prison with those he preached to therein—to be sanctified before all of the people. (D&C 115:19) We who wait and watch for these things have laid hold to every good thing, as Mormon directed us, and we are eternally grateful for the good things Joseph labored to bring us. The preparatory work he began in 1830 has not gone by in vain.

It proved to us that the holy scriptures are true; that God does inspire men and call them to work miracles among the children of men.

When I am called at the trump of the ark-angel, and weighed in the balance, you will all know me then.”

The world has mocked the work of God’s great prophet for four generations. Those claiming to succeed him have only further defamed his accomplishments.

Although Joseph may have at one point been a fallen prophet, he was always a true prophet. He did not fail; the people did.

I have attempted to organize an accurate timeline of what may have occurred during his ministry in respect to the folly of adultery which came among the Saints. The LDS church was infiltrated by the sins warned against by God, yet there’s no telling what really happened. All we know is that the words of God revealed through Joseph Smith in The Book of Mormon and 1844-Doctrine and Covenants are the greatest source of light and evidence of God’s hand in the world since the ministry of the Twelve, who were with Jesus Christ in Jerusalem.

I apologize if I have in any way misrepresented Joseph or the events of the trajectory of the restored church. The historical record is a messy one, and should not be relied upon. An understanding of Joseph Smith can be deepened by examining all historical pieces of evidence—but really, we’ll never quite know the truthfulness of these documents. All we can do is believe God’s word and receive the manifestation of the Spirit.

For now,” says Neil L. Anderson, “give Brother Joseph a break!”

Like him I know that “in a future day” we will have “one-hundred times more information” and this information will come “from our all-knowing Father in Heaven.”

Until that day, this is my best,

Which church will you have belonged to?

Which church will you have belonged to?

Due to my recent musings on the possibility that individuals other than Elijah have returned back to the flesh, I have been cornered into defending the position emphatically.

For years now, the idea of multiple probations was a doctrine I chose to steer clear from, not wanting it to overshadow the things I find of greater importance in my personal search for truth. Nevertheless I have recently found numerous pieces of scriptural evidence to support such a view.

A blogger has begun contesting my Elijah paper. https://ldswatchman.wordpress.com/2019/02/20/can-translated-and-deceased-individuals-be-born-again-onto-this-earth-to-serve-a-second-or-even-a-third-mortal-mission/

He is now beginning a series of posts in direct response to me. I will respond to the author with a post containing a deeper analysis of scriptural implications when his series is complete. I mention it now because this post will delve briefly into it without providing a lengthy argument for its defense.

I will contain myself to the first three chapters of The Book of Revelation.

The first time I ever considered that spirits return back to the earth for a subsequent mortal probation was after I adopted an approach of “Biblical literalism” and then re-encountered the passage: “Behold, he cometh with clouds; and every eye shall see him, and they also which pierced him.” (1:7)

This implies that those who were personally responsible for the death of Christ would be standing on the earth during the second coming of Christ. My current understanding of the resurrection timeline does not allow for the Jews to be resurrected previous to or during the initial first resurrection.

The only other explanation I can think of is to suggest that the descendants of those who crucified Christ are guilty of the sins of their fathers, and that generational curses do in fact pass down if the children do not seek God with all their heart and soul and become obedient. (Deut 4:29-30)

Either interpretation advances a mystical realm of thinking which can enable us to glimpse into the complex nature of the spiritual world and its effect on us.

I don’t mean to give credence unto worldly learning…but I do find it of great interest that the scientific community in their research into epigenetics has determined the high likelihood that the experiences of our ancestors are carried down and our genes respond accordingly.

Many seem to deal with specific mental challenges and yet their lives provide no logical explanation for why they experience those personal ordeals. I find it compelling to conclude that the burdens—or judgments of God—given unto previous generations are imprinted in the way our DNA will choose to express itself.

Many remark that our history in the pre-earth life can explain our abnormal behavior that does not conform to our first-hand mortal experiences, but this is not congruent to the scriptural truth (Moses 7:32) that we did not have agency and the ability to be in a state of action to gain experience until we entered mortality here on earth.

I will not try and convince anyone to accept a doctrine that is not clearly expounded upon by prophets in direct detail. It is simply hoped of me that others may too begin to recognize that unknowable variables are seemingly at play and these influence us greatly as we see the world through a glass darkly.

When the work of the Father commences, the Book of Ether informs us that all of John’s revelations will be, “unfolded in the eyes of all the people.” (Ether 4:16)

The term “unfold” is used in the Book of Mormon multiple times to describe the revealment of a mystery of God by a prophet. (Jacob 4:18; Mosiah 2:9; Mosiah 8:19; Alma 40:3)

The Book of Revelation will be unfolded by a true prophet. But if so—what good is having the prophecy if we have to wait until the marvelous work is fulfilled and the work of the Father commences?

I believe a small group of elect will in fact have it unfolded to their understanding previous to the marvelous work and a wonder.

Another verse in the Book of Mormon uses the same phrase to expound on a different possibility: “For he that diligently seeketh shall find; and the mysteries of God shall be unfolded unto them, by the power of the Holy Ghost.” (1 Nephi 10:19)

Those that diligently seek will have the mysteries explained by the power of the Holy Ghost.

It is stated by John: “Blessed are they who read, and they who hear and understand the word of this prophecy.” (JST Rev 1:3)

This verse indicates that it is possible to understand John’s revelation by reading the words of the prophecy as it stands; achievable, of course, only through the accompaniment of the power of the Holy Ghost. Whether we have the full extent of that power is debatable, but my lack of surety in this matter does not deter me from diligently seeking to understand the mysteries nonetheless.

Jesus Christ proclaimed, “Blessed is he that keepeth the sayings of the prophecy of this book.” (Rev 22:7) So regardless to whether or not we are capable of fully comprehending the Book of Revelation during the time being, we are to still be intimately familiar with its passages and prophetic sayings, for we will be blessed for so doing. An awareness of it will ensure our capacity to recognize the fulfillment of it coming to pass before us.

*

I have endeavoured to identify the latter-day fulfillment of the seven churches John wrote to in the second and third chapter of his prophecy. In doing so, I feel confident that it has been not been an exercise in futility. I have always suspected that the message to each of the seven churches in Asia were shadows and representations of seven future groups of believers in the last days, beginning with the arrival of the Book of Mormon onward to the millennium.

The seven groups have arisen chronologically according to the order they appear in John’s prophecy.

Ephesus- The 1830-Church of Christ/Ephraim

Smyrna- The 1836-Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints/Judah

Pergamos- The rejected 1841-church/The House of Israel

Thyatira- The [future] Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints/Wheat of the House of Israel

Sardis- Watchers/Friends of the Bridegroom

Philadelphia- The Church of the Firstborn/The Bride of the New Jerusalem

Laodiceans- The Remnant/The Jews of the Old Jerusalem

I will now provide the list of traits given by God for each church and expound why I feel these characteristics have accurately described the tribal group I’ve classified the church as representing.

[Editorial Note: To keep the flow of this paper I will not use references or quotations to Revelation 2-3 but hope the reader will read those chapters alongside this study. An extremely extensive amount of material will be covered as quickly as possible with little or no explanation in this post.]

Ephesus – The 1830-Church of Christ/Ephraim

-Cannot bear those that are evil, has labored for the name of Christ, but does not have faith

The early saints of the LDS church were indeed a righteous people. They could not bear to be surrounded by the evil wickedness of Babylon, which led them to separate themselves and gather out to Zion to labor for the name of Christ upon hearing of the Book of Mormon. However, these Gentiles would fail to truly believe in the words of the Book of Mormon, preventing them from receiving the greater things promised unto true believers in God’s revealed word. (3 Nephi 26:9-10) The Ephramite Gentiles are not listed as possessing faith because they did not have the faith to fully repent and become clean before the Lord. [The few early Saints who did become sanctified are not being addressed to in John’s message.]

-Has the candlestick so long as they repent and return back to the first works by remembering where they first became fallen

The Gentiles became fallen a few short years after the establishment of the church by rejecting the law of the gospel and failing to live consecration as required by the fulness of the gospel.

The candlestick is referred to in Rev 1:20 as the churches themselves but in the message to Ephesus it is related to a man being moved out of his place. This is not Joseph Smith because he is one of the seven lamps connected to the candlestick. (Zech 4:2) The “seven lamps [which] are the seven servants of God” (JST Rev 4:5) are also referred to as the seven shepherds (Micah 5:5) and these seven are the elders to whom Section 29 and 84 have addressed and commissioned. Regardless of the Gentiles failure or success in reforming after rejecting the fulness of the gospel, Joseph would fall from his position to perform the atonement necessary in behalf of them for having rejected the fulness in the first place. If the Gentiles had hearkened to William Law’s warnings in the Nauvoo Expositor for the church to return back to its former works, the candlestick of Sidney Rigdon (the Elias-restorer of the third watch) would still have had his place and standing among the Gentiles in the second watch, for he is the light and standard to whom the Gentiles should seek after. (D&C 45:9) Although Sidney would be cast out by Israel’s fit man as the scapegoat of Leviticus 16, he could have organized the Gentiles into a legitimate Church of Christ—but due to the iniquity of the Gentiles, the eyes of Sidney Rigdon were covered and all his subsequent efforts made for the gospel were misdirected, all of which went by virtually unnoticed by the many Gentile-Mormon factions that inevitably popped up in response to their rejection of the leadership of the fit man, Brigham Young.

Although a potential Church of Christ could have been organized with humble followers of Christ, it would not have graduated to living the fulness of the gospel until the third watch. The Church of Christ would still have been a great blessing, for Rigdon would have been able to confound the many false doctrines that have arisen throughout all restoration movements. He would not have brought forth revelation, but he would have prevented false revelation. Before being cast out by the “saints”, Rigdon proposed himself as a guardian to the church. This is an accurate description for the role Sidney could have played to the Gentiles.

-Hates the deeds of the Nicolaitans and has tried those who say they are apostles, finds them liars

D&C 117:11 explains that the Nicolaitans are connected to a tradition of secret abominations. The Gentiles of the Ephesus church are those that do not embrace the secret rituals and practices that came among them before becoming fully embedded as they came to be in the churches of Smyrna and Pergamos. These saints were those who did not accept the leadership of the Twelve traveling council who claimed to be apostles while being steeped in dark practices which are hated of them. Although these Gentiles failed to return to their first works, they understood and recognized that the restored church was no longer led by the Spirit of God and that those professing to have authority within it were liars.

-If they overcome they will eat of the tree of life

D&C 101:3 refers to the early Gentile saints as God’s jewels. This connects us to the prophecy of Malachi which came to fruition in its entirety by 1836. (D&C 110:14) Malachi speaks of a book of remembrance containing those servants who are the jewels. D&C 86 tells us that those who did live the law of consecration and are found written in the book will find an inheritance among the Saints once Zion is successfully established. In other words, those of this church who did overcome and fulfill their obligations to the Lord will be among the celestial souls who will belong to the New Jerusalem.

Smyrna- The 1836-Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints/Judah

-Are the true Jews, rich in the eyes of the world while in spiritual poverty

Through the Lord’s mentioning unto them of the blasphemy of those that say they are Jews but are not, I conclude the church of Smyrna to be the legitimate Jews who—unbeknownst to them—are descendants of those of the Kingdom of Judah who were in Israel at the time of Christ’s ministry. The 1835-Twelve traveling council was prophesied to declare the gospel to the Jews (D&C 18; D&C 112) which assuredly occurred when the Twelve were sent on missions across the great waters. These Jews were gathered to the lands of their inheritance (the promised land of America) and restored into the fold of God (2 Nephi 9:2) after beginning to believe in Christ (2 Nephi 30:7) by having come to a mere knowledge of the fulness of the gospel. (3 Nephi 16:12) The majority of Nauvoo saints were these Jews who would not reject the fulness of the gospel because the fulness was never actually given to them in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. However, the fulness was offered unto them—as well unto the remaining Gentiles who still associated themselves with the restored church—but this missed opportunity resulted in the rejection of the church.

As these Jews had only begun to believe in Christ through intellectual persuasion rather than through the revelation of the Holy Ghost, they are in spiritual poverty without the capacity to become sanctified and build Zion. Regardless, the Jews who soon composed the rejected church are God’s people and are blessed with intelligence and success as seen in the admirable yet worldly society they built in Utah.

-Goes through tribulation, but should not fear this; some are cast into prison by the devil

Because this group of believers in God do not build a true safe haven from the world, they experience the tribulation that comes by way of the wickedness of the world which infiltrates their soon-to-be rejected of God-church. However, they are told not to fear this tribulation in which they all experience. It appears the only thing they are to fear is the possibility that the devil will entice some of them deep enough into sin that they will be cast into spiritual prison and then experience the second death.

-They will have tribulation ten days, told to be faithful unto death

This is the other piece of evidence that indicates this group are Jews. The ten-day tribulation refers to the Jewish tradition of going through ten days of repentance until Yom Kippur, the Day of Atonement, in which they are to afflict their souls as part of an offering unto the Lord. (Lev 23:27) Because the Jews do not fully accept the the suffering of Christ in their behalf—not comprehending it—they must experience suffering themselves as did the ancient Jews under the law of Moses. Although their approach to God is not in harmony with the new testament, the Lord accepts their offering so long as they remain faithful to what light they have. Not living by grace, they are justified by the sufferings they bring upon themselves.

-If they overcome will not experience second death

The church of Smyrna is not promised the richer blessing given unto those who are made perfect through the mediator of the new covenant. But Christ loves them as they are “his own” (3 Nephi 9:16) and they will receive a terrestrial salvation to eventually become sanctified after their pain wherein they will dwell in the presence of Christ forever and ever. (D&C 133:35) Although their works in mortality were not grounded in celestial law, such as their practice of plural marriage, it is not held against them for they did not live by faith but according to the lesser law of commandments in which God approbated anciently and must continue to do so under conditions such as this, dealing once again with a group of believers who cannot fathom the true message of the gospel. The terrestrial souls do not receive a testimony of Jesus in the flesh (D&C 76:74) as seen in this group of believers, who are blinded from seeing the true source of salvation. If they remain honorable in their works—as misdirected as they may be—they will receive salvation after their tribulations and not experience the second death with the devil and his angels.

Pergamos – The post-1841 LDS Church/The unconverted House of Israel

-Holds fast to the name of Christ, does not deny the faith of Christ but does not have faith themselves

This church is composed of all nations, kindreds, tongues, and peoples—who, like unto Epheus and Smyrna, do not posses the gift of faith but hold fast to the name of Christ and will not deny the portion of faith they have during the time of hidden darkness that preludes the marvelous work and a wonder. The church of Smyrna (Judah) is a sub-group of believers within this church, who go along for the ride after their church is rejected, wrongfully believing that the church of Pergamos represents the same church they joined previous to 1841. Although Ephesus (Ephraim) would not associate itself with Pergamos—most of them having already distanced themselves from Smyrna/The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints—the Jews of Smyrna remain in Pergamos as it casts an open net into the world and brings together a wide variety of believers from all the tribes of Israel as well as the remaining tares of the earth. However, the tares combined with Israel do not constitute the church of Pergamos within the rejected church, because Pergamos does not deny the faith of Christ. The church of Pergamos claims to be The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, but the name is not applicable because God did not consider the members to be Saints by March of 1841. (D&C 125)

-Dwells where Satan’s seat is and guilty of being connected with those who hold the doctrine of Nicolaitans

The LDS temple endowment ceremony is the doctrine spoken of, as it is a ritual done in terms of secrecy in the manner of darkness. Although the ceremony no longer requires participants to covenant in agreement to having their throats cut open if they choose to reveal the secrets of the ceremony, it is still the obvious fulfillment to the secret abominations held to and embraced by members of this church. For the time being, it appears as though even the humble followers of Christ are currently deceived and err in this instance (2 Nephi 28:14) although they themselves are not guilty of committing abominations. What is held against them is their allowance for these secret combinations to prevail among them instead of waking up to their awful situation. (Ether 8:24) They believe the temple to be harmless when Moroni has informed us that Saints have been murdered in connection to it. They are yet to realize they have been duped into making a covenant with death (Isa 28:18) and will need to repent of it before the overflowing scourge begins or they will be trodden down as the wrath of God begins—first of all, upon the House of Israel. (D&C 112:25) The temple in which they find “refuge” is a refuge of lies and the covenants made there have been made with hell itself (Isa 28:15) thus being the very the place Satan dwells. Paul prophesied that the son of perdition will be found sitting in one of the temples of God (2 Thes 2:3-4) which will surely occur in one of the LDS temples if it hasn’t already.

-Guilty of allowing individuals to bring forth stumbling-blocks which tempt the children of Israel into engaging with false idols and committing fornication

The list of false doctrines and erroneous beliefs about the nature of God over the entire history of the rejected church is endless. Each and every president of the church has agreed and disagreed with one or another, leaving the membership in a state of confusion where none see eye-to-eye. Although the church has stamped out many of its early-day heresies, the doctrine of the Father having once been a mortal man with a god above himself is still regarded as a foundational belief and paints a worldview of working towards salvation through eternal progression to become a god themselves. Thus, they walk in their own way in the image of their own god (D&C 1:16) putting their trust into a false idol.

Another stumbling-block is the spiritual-wife doctrine which originated in Nauvoo and ended before the turn of the twentieth century. Pergamos has not stamped it out completely, allowing for Section 132 to remain in their scriptures and continuing to believe in the “eternal sealing” ritual—the source of which was originally associated with the secret practice of marrying multiple women to receive a higher exaltation. The spirit of whoredom follows the church and is evident in the widespread consummation of pornography and the increasingly common occurrence of divorce/remarriage. Believing plural marriage to be connected to a fulness of glory has attributed to the development of deviant men who do not find refuge and strength in the bonds of monogamy.

The beliefs of spiritual-wifery espoused by the tares are separate and different from the practice of plural marriage that Judah would engage in. Smyrna/Judah would have been those that chose to live polygamy not out of lust but because they associated it with their effort to perform works to gain salvation. They wrongfully believed that plural marriage was a test by God to see if they would follow his commandments and thought their submission to it would prove their dedication. The Book of Hosea had a vision of the latter-day practice of polygamy; and prophesied that after Israel falls in their iniquity, Judah would also. (Hosea 5:5) What should be noted was that while those of Judah fall, their fall is not related to iniquity as it was to the rest of Israel. Their fall was due to their vulnerability in being blinded by the craftiness of the men, which is the inevitable destiny of all terrestrial souls. (D&C 76:75) The final word on Judah according to Hosea’s vision: “The house of Israel [is] with deceit: but Judah yet ruleth with God, and is faithful with the saints.” (11:12)

-If they overcome they will eat the hidden manna (Christ) and receive the new name

If the House of Israel becomes converted for the marvelous work they will no longer have the name of their tribe of Israel (or their LDS temple-endowment name) but receive the name of the Father written on their foreheads as is seen of them who become the 144,000 on Mount Zion. (Rev 14:1) When the 144,000 are sealed as high priests out of the tribes of Israel they will be discovered to have originally been members of the rejected latter-day church. According to the Book of Revelation, the tribes of Israel who then must compose Pergamos are:

Judah

Reuben

Gad

Aser

Nepthalim

Manasseh

Simeon

Levi

Issachar

Zabulon

Joseph

Benjamin

Notice that Dan is not listed. I believe this tribe is the tares combined with the rejected church who gain control and power over it. Latter-day Israel was told by Christ in 3 Nephi 16 that the Gentiles would not have power over them when they came to a knowledge of the fulness of the gospel. Because Judah is chosen of God to have authority over Israel, it is quickly assumed that this tribe has once again reigned over Israel in the latter-days. However it is inferred by Jacob that Dan seemingly takes it upon himself to be a judge without any apparent divine endorsement to do so. In fact, nothing good is said about this tribe at all. So although the Gentiles will not have power over Israel, Dan will, “judge his people as one of the tribes of Israel.” (Gen 49:16) The best explanation for this verse is to conclude that the wicked leaders of the LDS church who judge the members and bind them with heavy burdens are of the tribe which has been excluded from being among the potential 144,000 of the House of Israel and is not being spoken to, addressed, or commended by John in his letter to Pergamos.

The tribe of Dan is prophesied by Jacob to be serpents (Gen 49:17) which is the same thing Christ called the Pharisees and scribes (Matt 23:33) who I imagine must have also been of this tribe and not Judah—for the tribe of Judah was approved by God to reliably fight against the enemies of Israel, not be an enemy themselves. (Gen 49:8) This correlates with Jeremiah 8:16 which informs us that the enemy will be heard from Dan—also said to, “publisheth affliction from mount Ephraim.” (Jer 4:15) The “Jews” that lorded over the Jewish people were of the devil (John 8:44) and there’s no reason to doubt that the enemy has once again found a way to lord over God’s people.

Lastly, I’ll mention why Ephraim is missing from the list. This is because Ephraim is classified among the Gentiles; and all tribes of Israel will have a mixed lineage with Gentile/Ephraim after having been scattered among the nations. In other words, the House of Israel (minus Judah) can be considered as Gentiles.

Some believe the tribe of Joseph in Revelation 7 is meant to represent Ephraim—but if so, why wouldn’t it simply have been written as Ephraim? The Lord was hinting towards something. I believe the 12,000 high priests ordained from the tribe of Joseph will have come out of a new lineage of Joseph of Egypt through the mortal probation of Joseph Smith; who, in Section 124, received a special anointing upon himself and on the head of the posterity after him. (D&C 124:57) Joseph Smith’s posterity is referred to as a “house” (124:56) which is a term that can be associated with an individual tribe of Israel. (2 Sam 2:11) Thousands of descendants of Joseph Smith, whether they be in the church of Pergamos or in remnants of Ephesus, will be redeemed as members of the New Jerusalem and participate in the final administration of the everlasting gospel.

If the tribe of Joseph does in fact relate to Joseph Smith, this may demonstrate why Joseph married women wherein there was no sexual motivation to do so. The descendants of his plural wives, not of his literal seed, may still be members of his house. And because we know that Joseph has an extremely small group of literal descendants, this explains why there can yet be 12,000 of his tribe on the earth today.

Thyatira – The [future] Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints/The converted House of Israel

-Has works, charity, service, faith, patience; then lists “works” a second time

This is the first church said to have faith. It is also listed as having charity, the pure love of Christ which endures forever. (Moroni 7:47) This church will not go into apostasy—although some of its members will—for charity never faileth. (1 Cor 13:8) The first works of this church which prelude the charity and faith may have originally been “dead works” but Christ attributes works to them a second time, saying their last works will be of more worth than their first. The term “dead works” can refer to an invalid baptism (Moroni 8:23) that does not enable the believer to enter the strait gate (D&C 22:2) which makes sense in accepting this church to have originally belonged to the church of Pergamos whose baptisms were never accepted by God. Those in Pergamos who pray unto the Father to be filled with the pure love of Christ will receive a rightful baptism in their scattered state before gathering together upon the land of Zion. The defining characteristic of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is the condition of it being, “scattered abroad in all the world.” (D&C 115:4) The members of the LDS church today are scattered abroad but are not members of Thyatira until they are baptized by priesthood messengers wherein they will finally become Saints and “arise and shine forth” as said of them in Section 115 and Isaiah 60. The mormon-House of Israel will be first to receive the invitation to Zion when the times of the Gentiles comes in and the light shines among them; but as a whole, Pergamos will not receive it. (D&C 45:28) Thyatira consists of the converted Gentiles mixed into the twelve tribes of Revelation 7 who are the wheat of the Pergamos church who exit the apostate church once true prophets arrive on scene before the calamities strike and the desolating scourge goes forth.

-Those who do not fornicate or associate with idols

The wheat of God’s harvest will believe in the celestial law of monogamy (D&C 42:22/49:16-17) and be pure of all sexual sin. They endure sound doctrine (2 Tim 4:3) and dismiss the fables taught to them by false teachers. They will not be deceived in going after other gods but have faith in the true nature of God that has been declared by prophets in simplicity throughout all of scripture. Thyatira will be those that treasured up God’s word (JST-Matt 1:37) in stark contrast to their fellow brethren in Pergamos who reject the fulness due to the precepts of men (D&C 45:29) which are upheld over scripture.

-Allows a prophetess to seduce servants of Christ into fornication, and eat things sacrificed unto idols; told to hold fast to what they already have

So far I’m unaware of the details surrounding this narrative…in the meanwhile I am confident that it has not yet come to pass, because The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is not on the earth. When it is, the elect should be on high alert: it is prophesied that a woman will come among them and seduce the servants of Christ to commit fornication and eat/consume/enjoy a false god. This prophetess will obviously be one who shows great signs and wonders (Matt 24:24) as said of Christ in regards to the false prophets and false Christs who come in the last days, which we have not yet seen. Although it is not possible for the elect to be deceived—the elect who are predestinated to be the 144,000—there will be true followers of Christ in Thyatira who will fall for the signs and wonders that Satan conjures. Jesus says unto his disciples, “Take heed that no man deceive you.” (Matt 24:4) His disciples can be deceived, and the elect will have this held against them because they have been entrusted as elders with oversight among the flock of God. (1 Peter 5:2) Sadly, the elect of the elders of Israel will fail in this. Those that are seduced by the prophetess are those who fall from grace and depart from the living God (D&C 20:32-34) after the power of the Lamb of God descends upon the Saints when they are still scattered upon all the face of the earth. (1 Nephi 14:14) The elect will hold fast to what they have—the fulness of the gospel—and the disciples who are deceived will be cast into hell with the false prophetess, although the Lord does indicate they have an opportunity to repent.

-If they overcome they have power over the nations, and receive the morning star

The term “power over the nations” that is used to describe those in Thyatira who successfully overcome their challenges and temptations, is used in only one other place in scripture—D&C 77:11, which informs us that once the 144,000 are sealed as high priests they will have power over the nations. Section 77 proves that the faithful of Thyatira will in fact be the future 144,000 once they have been gathered to the cornerstone of Zion with the other Saints who are not part of the 144,000. Once they have been sealed unto this power, The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints will cease to exist because none of the Saints will remain scattered. The gathering from the four quarters of the earth will be accomplished when the elect arrive “unto the one place upon the face of this [American] land” where they will be “prepared in all things against the day when tribulation and desolation is sent forth.” (D&C 29:8) The gathering of elect from the four winds which occurs next does not refer to those living on earth but to those “from one end of heaven to the other.” (JST-Mathew 24/JST Mark 13) The four-wind gathering is the elect who have died, such as those who overcame in Ephesus as well as the righteous in all other dispensations. Eventually another gathering from the four quarters of the earth will transpire, but the last to be gathered will not be classified as celestial-Saints.

The morning star is Joseph Smith, the angel that revealed the prophecy unto John (Rev 22:16) who is the “root” of David. (Isa 53:2) Sidney Rigdon is the “root of Jesse” (D&C 113:6); the morning star who comes at a later time to a wider group of elect. The 144 of Thyatira receive Joseph Smith who has the seal over them as the Elias-angel to “gather” the twelve tribes and “restore” the fulness of priesthood after “ascending” from hell. (D&C 77:9) With the fulness of priesthood they will redeem Zion as promised of Joseph when he gathers the strength of God’s “house [of Israel].” (D&C 103:21)

Sardis – The Watchers/Friends of the Bridegroom

-Has a name that they live, but are dead; works not perfect, although a few of them are already worthy

As mentioned at the start of this post, I believe in multiple probations and conclude this to be a reference to them. Here I will not delve into the deep theology pertaining to it and the many scriptures that provide commentary and justification for it, but as soon as I write my thesis on it I will update this section with a URL to it.

Although the Watchers of Sardis have died in a previous probation and many need to live again to have their sins blotted out during the times of refreshing (Acts 3:19) some return having already been sanctified, thus worthy—having already perfected their works

-Told to be watchful; if they fail to watch, Christ will come as a thief and not know the hour

It is accepted that none will know “the hour or day” (JST-Matt 1:39) of the Second Coming of Christ, and this is true. However the Lord comes secretly to the earth three times as a thief (JST-Luke 12:42-45) previous to the coming in glory in which every eye shall see. (Rev 1:7) The church of Sardis exists before the third watch, and this verse indicates that the watchers can know the time of the final preliminary coming. If they succeed in watching they will expect him down to the very hour he arrives and he will not be a thief unto them.

-If they overcome they will have white garments

White garments are given unto those of the New Jerusalem. (Ether 13:10) Although most members of New Jerusalem—the ones that will live in the last days and not previous dispensations—are those who do not experience the tribulation of the last days, the church of Sardis are the ones who die in martyrdom as recorded in Revelation 6 during the time between the opening of the fifth and sixth seal. In the Joseph Smith-translation, Sardis is told, “be watchful therefore, and strengthen those who remain who are ready to die,” which refers to Revelation 6: “And white robes were given unto every one of them; and it was said unto them, that they should rest yet for a little season, until their fellowservants also and their brethren, that should be killed as they were, should be fulfilled.” (verse 11)

The Church of the Firstborn is referred to as the Bride of Christ, but John the Baptist differentiated himself from the bride and proclaimed himself to instead be a friend to the bridegroom. (John 3:29) Not all celestial souls are members of the Bride, for Section 76 does not outline the celestial as being required members of it, only that they come into company with it (as well as coming into company with the church of Enoch.)

Being a friend to the Bridegroom is not a lesser classification, for friends of God are those whose faith is made perfect through works (James 2:22-23) which is the very thing asked of the church in Sardis. Becoming a Friend of God according to James is through sacrifice. The friends to the Bridegroom must sacrifice their lives as did John the Baptist.

Those in Sardis said to be worthy were the ones who already sacrificed their lives in previous dispensations, who prepare the brethren to do the same: “strengthen those who remain who are ready to die.” (JST) Their fellowservants are “ready to die” as was Paul (Acts 21:13) and know it is their duty to do so. If they are not watchful, they will no longer be members of Sardis and become members of the future Laodicean church where they will overcome the same way Christ overcame (Rev 3:21) for having crucified Christ—so either they will die as martyrs or suffer the future wrath of God.

Those in Sardis that face martyrdom will have succeeded in taking up their cross and losing their lives for the sake of Christ and not their own sake. (Matt 16:24-25) It does appear, however, that those who are deceived by false prophets will be killed for the sake of Christ (JST-Mathew 1:5-7) which does infer that the Watchers are a group of believers that, in the past, made serious errors in their search for Christ. Yet regardless of their mistakes, the Watchers are described as holy ones who desire all to know the Most High (Daniel 4:17) and will speak out against the wickedness of the Danite tares. (Jer 4:15-16)

The members of Sardis who are Watchers (and know the hour of Christ’s third-watch) are the holy ones that are not deceived by the tares in sheep’s clothing but perhaps by others who claim to be anointed. These false christ’s will deliver them up (Luke 21:12) and the holy ones of them will be put to death, having already settled in their minds what answer they will give. They overcome by staying true to their testimony. (Luke 21:13/Rev 6:11) Before their deaths, they will see Christ and the Father as holy ones that did receive the testimony of Jesus while still in the flesh (D&C 76:51) even though they experienced deception previously, either in previous probations or during the time leading up to the opening of the sixth seal, before—and perhaps even during—the third watch.

Of course it is probable that not all martyrdom will be a result of past deception, that some will accept it because to them there would no greater honor than being martyred.

Philadelphia- The Church of the Firstborn/The Bride of the New Jerusalem

-Has an open door and the love of Jesus; has little strength, yet has not denied his name; kept the word

-Is told to hold their fast, they do not engage in idols

-Will be kept from the hour of temptation; the fake Jews will worship at their feet

-If they overcome will be a pillar in the temple of God with the name of God and the name of the New Jerusalem

The church of Philadelphia are the inhabitants of the New Jerusalem that are not members of the 144,000 that came out of the church of Pergamos and were the Smyrna-Saints. The Saints who are scattered abroad are separate from the other “covenant people of the Lord” (1 Nephi 14:14) who will leave Babylon in due time of the Lord to join the Saints when each group gathers to the land of Zion.

The covenant people of the Lord are members of the elect (JST-Mathew 1:22)—not of the prophesied House of Israel that are the wheat who gather out of the wheat/tare-infused rejected church, nor are they the martyrs of Sardis. The Philadelphia church are the repentant-Gentiles of the last days who will be numbered among the House of Israel (3 Nephi 16:13) to assist the remnant of Jacob (the first labourers of the last kingdom-D&C 52:2) in building the city of the New Jerusalem before it is raptured.

The Church of the Firstborn refers not only to Christ who is the firstborn of all (Coll 1:15) but to Ephraim’s status of being the firstborn before God. (Jer 31:9) This is why when the Ephraim-Gentiles were offered the fulness of the gospel in 1830, the church was organized on April 6th, the day which fell upon the Fast of the Firstborn.

Although the Gentiles rejected the fulness of the gospel, the times of the Gentiles comes in one last time (D&C 45:28-30) when the arm of the Lord is revealed to convince the heathen nations of the gospel of salvation. (D&C 90:10) The marvelous work of the third watch is directed unto the Gentiles (1 Nephi 22:8) who are considered heathens.

What I am unsure of, however, is their history before receiving their status and characteristics in Philadelphia. These Gentiles could be the true Christians who have rejected the creeds of apostate-Christianity—or could even be the current-day atheists. It seems more likely to me that atheists will be more reciprocal to the marvelous work when God’s word hisses forth as the Lord sets his hand again the second time. It will become apparent to them that the reason they did not find God during the time of apostasy was because satan was indeed the god of the world (2 Cor 4:4) and the religions of the earth belonged to him. They will have seen through the lies and not been brainwashed into believing they already possess the truth.

If they are Christians they will have been those who drifted from church to church, always suspicious of the complete lack of signs that should attend the true believers, the fruits of which are obsolete in all denominations. (Mark 16) These Christians will never be satisfied while they continue to sin and accept they have not been sanctified or truly born-again.

The past identity of Philadelphia will be irrelevant in terms of their future status as pillars in the temple of God. Once they receive God’s word they will keep it. The patience they have is that they refused to worship the beast (Rev 13:8-10)—or in other words, they refused to worship a false god. If they hold fast to what they have—keeping the commandments and having faith in Jesus—they will be kept from the hour of temptation where they would be killed for not receiving the mark of the beast. They will not be martyred for refusing to do so as the faithful of Sardis will—for the faithful of Philadelphia will be in Zion when the lamb-like beast of the dragon (the antichrist) arrives to force the inhabitants of the earth to worship the first beast (with seven heads and ten crowns) that he will give life to by the power of Satan.

The fake Jews will worship before the feet of this church. They will fall down before Ephraim and be crowned by their hands. (D&C 133:32)

Laodiceans- The Remnant/The Jews of the Old Jerusalem

-Neither cold nor hot; they are lukewarm, spewed from God’s mouth

-Rich in the world—but poor, wretched, miserable, blind, and naked

-Counselled to buy of Christ to be rich, to receive white raiment to not be naked, to be anointed to see

-Is loved of Christ

-If they overcome the same way Christ overcomes they will sit on the throne

This is the final church who can receive better than a telestial salvation. They have the opportunity to be redeemed after the second trump, before the third trump sounds.

This group is rich in the eyes of the world, a reference to them being the remnant of Smyrna, the other church to be rich. These are the Jews that began to believe in Christ in 1836 when God brought them to a knowledge of the fulness of the gospel. When they “begin” to believe they “begin to gather in upon the face of the land” (2nd Nephi 30:7) but this does not constitute their prophetic gathering to Jerusalem, the land of their inheritance.

The Jerusalem promised to them is not the New Jerusalem nor is it the Jerusalem located in Palestine; it is Kirtland (D&C 109:62)—a place designated for refuge that is not the land of Zion but a stake of it. (D&C 124:36)

While the Gentiles flee to Zion, Judah will flee to Jerusalem to the mountain of the Lord’s house. (D&C 133:12-13) However, Judah does not gather to Jerusalem until the times of the Gentiles are fulfilled. (D&C 45:25)

The remnant gathers after the sun is darkened and the moon turns to blood, which occurs when the times of the Gentiles are fulfilled (JST Luke 21:25) and the elect have already been gathered from the four quarters of the earth.

After the New Jerusalem comes with those numbered among the seed of Joseph, then comes the Jerusalem of old. (Ether 13) Those of the old Jerusalem do not have white garments, but will be washed in the blood of the Lamb, for Judah will be sanctified after their pain. (D&C 133:35) The Jews are loved of Christ which is why even though the Laodicean church is spoken of so poorly they still retain his love.

After the marvelous work concludes and the first trump is blown (D&C 88:94) the wrath of God is poured out upon the great church (the tares) and then commences the work of the Father. (1 Nephi 14:17) According to Christ, the New Jerusalem is already built and he is in the midst of it before the work of the Father begins to prepare a way for “his people” to be “gathered home to the land of their inheritance.” (3 Nephi 21:26-28)

After the second trump, those who belong to Christ at his coming will be redeemed/sanctified. (D&C 88:99) This is the remnant who will not be the firstfruits of Christ who ascend with him at the Second Coming, but will be in Kirtland and see him coming in the clouds. (D&C 45:43-44)

The remnant will also include those in Sardis who were cut off for not watching (D&C 45:44) and did not have their sins remitted during the time of refreshing because they missed out on the third watch. Their redemption comes later, after their pain, when they look upon Christ. They will “weep because of their iniquities” and “lament because they persecuted their king.” (D&C 45:53) This brings to pass Revelation 1:7—those that pierced Christ will be on the earth to see him coming in the clouds.

One last thing I’ll mention is that there are four and twenty elders that receive a celestial inheritance and yet belonged to all seven churches (D&C 77:5) which indicates that even members of the Laodecian church can receive the white robes of the New Jerusalem. (Rev 4:4) It is likely that the final gathering of the old Jerusalem will receive white robes once they are sanctifed.

The curious thing asked of the Laodecian church is for them to overcome as Christ overcame inferring that their redemption is by treading the wrath of God. This is the pain of Judah which comes before sanctification.

Will The Real Elijah Please Stand Up (redux)

“Thus saith the Lord unto you, with whom the priesthood hath continued through the lineage of your fathers— For ye are lawful heirs, according to the flesh, and have been hid from the world with Christ in God— Therefore your life and the priesthood have remained, and must needs remain through you and your lineage until the restoration of all things.” (D&C 86:9)

These words were given to Joseph Smith and Sidney Rigdon. We learn not only that they are descendants of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, but that their identities have been hid from the world. So who were they? The Lord did not reveal their identity during the second watch, but left behind enough clues for the elect to put the pieces together and understand their true identities. It is only until the third watch that the world will know Joseph and Sidney for who they really were when the two of them return to the earth to fulfill their ministry.

The weak things of the world are prophesied to come forth and break down the mighty and strong ones. Although the weak things were called and ordained unto this calling, as recorded in the D&C, it is evident that they did not achieve their mandate during their mortal probation in the 1800’s. Heretics such as myself can only conclude that they must return to the earth.

If you do not accept the unconditional promises and prophecies contained in The Doctrine and Covenants, I recommend you stop reading this post and do as the Lord directs in D&C 1:37.

This post is going to be a long one, so I don’t want to dwell on the scriptural precedents which have led me and others to anticipate Zion’s successful establishment by the same players who laid its foundation over 180 years ago. For more information, refer to an older post of mine: https://themarvelouswork.com/2015/09/07/lds-leadership-pt-3-the-first-elders/

The interesting thing I should mention about that post is that although I had recognized the significance of the term “arm of the Lord” I had not yet directly attributed it to a specific person. Originally I thought it to be Joseph Smith, judging by Section 103:

“Behold, I say unto you, the redemption of Zion must needs come by power; Therefore, I will raise up unto my people a man, who shall lead them like as Moses led the children of Israel. For ye are the children of Israel, and of the seed of Abraham, and ye must needs be led out of bondage by power, and with a stretched-out arm.” (verse 15-17)

It seemed clear that Joseph was the arm, but another verse seemed to fly in the face of this:

“I call upon the weak things of the world, those who are unlearned and despised, to thresh the nations by the power of my Spirit; and their arm shall be my arm.” (D&C 35:13-14)

This verse implies that the arm of the Lord is not a single individual, but manifests itself through a plurality of people. I wrongfully came to the conclusion that the first elders who will redeem Zion each represent the arm of the Lord.

I now understand that the plurality was referring to Sidney Rigdon, to which Section 35 was addressing! The arm of the Lord is both Joseph and Sidney.

My last post, “The Two Lords and the LORD,” had many inaccuracies because I failed to understand that prophecies pertain to Joseph and Sidney interchangeably. Trying to differentiate them isn’t always possible. They will have different roles and appear at different times—which I will elaborate on!—but labelling one as the Davidic king and one as the Davidic servant isn’t as simple as I thought.

What is clear is that these two are the weak things who jointly bring forth the fulness of the gospel.

Lyman Wight, to use an example, is not in the same category. Although he is one of the first elders and will return to the earth to preach the gospel—and likely participate in rending the kingdoms of the earth—he received the gospel, while it appears to me as though Joseph Smith and Sidney Rigdon did not actually need to receive the gospel during their probation in the second watch.

Think about it! For some odd reason, Joseph Smith was able to see God the Father in 1820 without being ordained to the Melchizedek priesthood. And for some odd reason, Sidney Rigdon had been sent forth by God to baptize people PRIOR to being united with the restored church.

Like John the Baptist, Joseph and Sidney are not part of the bride, but friends of the bridegroom/Christ. John the Baptist was deemed by Christ as more than a prophet. This is because John the Baptist was Elijah brought back into the flesh. He was not going through a mortal probation to choose good over evil; he had already proven himself to God as Elijah!

Sidney Rigdon clearly had priesthood authority if God sent him forth to baptize people before being ordained by either Joseph Smith or Olivery Cowdery. How could he have priesthood authority? He had to have received it during his first probation.

“David Patten I have taken unto myself; behold, his priesthood no man taketh from him.” (D&C 124:130)

“The keys of the kingdom shall never be taken from you, while thou art in the world, neither in the world to come.” (D&C 90:3)

The two verses above are each evidence that priesthood holders retain their priesthood and/or keys even after performing their labours and completing their time of probation.

Returning back to Lyman Wight— It was Sidney Rigdon, as a Baptist minister, who originally baptized Lyman and introduced him to the doctrines which would define early Mormonism. Sidney prepared him to receive the fulness of the gospel when it went forth by the hand of Joseph Smith. Lyman was the first to receive the Melchizedek priesthood in early June of 1831, where thereafter he parted the heavens and was able to behold God the Father and the Savior.

Lyman received the fulness of the gospel and was thus ordained to the priesthood which made it possible to see God as a member of the church of God and the bride of Christ.

D&C 84 explains that without the priesthood no man can see the face of God. Moses saw the face of God as recorded in Moses 1 which is an extension of Exodus 19. It is in Exodus 18 that Moses was given the commission by Jethro to teach the ordinances and laws unto the people (verse 20). Clearly, Jethro, as a high priest, knew the doctrine of Christ—handed down by Melchizedek—and performed the saving ordinances on Moses which enabled him to see God in the following chapter.

Joseph Smith did not have the ordinances of the gospel and yet saw God! The experiences of Joseph and Sidney have contradicted the holy word of God unless this is a result of having under gone a previous mortal probation.

If it has been accepted that Joseph and Sidney are the, “weak things of the world,” then it makes sense that Paul writes in 1 Corinthians 1:27 that the weak things of the world had already been chosen by the time Paul was writing his letters! This is because Joseph and Sidney had been foreordained to return to the earth in the second and third watches. Sidney would bring with him more keys than Joseph—but more on that later.

Those familiar with the strange history of Mormonism will no doubt be aware that Jesse Gause had originally been called in Section 81 as a counsellor to Joseph Smith in the Presidency of the High Priesthood but the appointment was short-lived due to apostasy. Instead of providing another revelation, the Lord simply replaced Jesse’s name in Section 81 and replaced it with Frederick G. Williams. What was God trying to tell us by choosing someone he knew would apostatize? I think it’s a clear sign that the third spot within the Presidency of the High Priesthood was to be filled by someone who was experiencing their first probation. In hindsight we understand that Frederick G. Williams was not foreordained the way Joseph and Sidney were. But make no mistake: Frederick is not to be cast aside as a thing of naught! Section 90 informs us that Frederick G. Williams is accounted as equal with Joseph and Sidney in holding the keys of the last kingdom.

The three of them are told: “Through your administration they may receive the word, and through their administration the word may go forth unto the ends of the earth, unto the Gentiles first, and then, behold, and lo, they shall turn unto the Jews. And then cometh the day when the arm of the Lord shall be revealed in power, convincing the nations, the heathen nations, the house of Joseph, of the gospel of their salvation.” (verse 9-10)

During the first watch, the gospel went from the Jews to the Gentiles.

During the second watch, the gospel went from the Gentiles to the Jews through the administration of those who had received the word by the administration of Joseph, Sidney, and Frederick.

At the time of the third watch, the gospel will have the most impact on the Gentiles. Section 90 makes it clear that when the arm of the Lord is revealed in power it will be unto the convincing the house of Joseph of the gospel of their salvation. The descendants of Joseph are part of the Abrahamic covenant, but are Gentiles due to the fact that Joseph likely married a Gentile woman or the prophetic remark of Jacob that the descendants of Joseph’s son Ephraim would become a multitude of nations. (Genesis 48:19)

The arm of the Lord will be revealed; and Joseph and Sidney will no longer be hid from the world. If you return back to the scripture I opened this post with, you will notice that the two of them are hidden from the world with Christ.

Not only are the two arms hidden from the world, but so is Jesus Christ. But when holy arm is made bare in the eyes of all the nations, Jesus will be found in the midst of the New Jerusalem. (3rd Nephi 21:25) Section 103 affirms that during the redemption of Zion the servants of God will be graced with the presence of not only angels but of the Lord himself. (verse 20)

If you’ve read this far and haven’t been scared off by my suppositions that Joseph and Sidney were living a second mortal probation I am sincerely impressed. It only gets crazier. I am about to suggest some radical ideas which many will find blasphemous. All I ask is for the reader to consider what I am saying. It doesn’t matter how big of a heretic you might be; and it doesn’t matter how open-minded you consider yourself— This post will perhaps be the most controversial document you’ve ever read. Simply because… it might just be true?

After taking a year off from blogging—and rarely choosing to peruse the blogs of others—I’ve returned and caught up. I decided to read through my previous 63 postings on this site, to which I was mostly impressed, but also had moments of deep embarrassment. I am prone to error and should not be trusted. If any are to come to the same conclusions as me—which I doubt (at least not until the third watch)—it will not be due to any doing on my part. The elect will uncover the truth in due time of the Lord. The mysteries of God are unfolded by the power of the Holy Ghost, not by an anonymous blogger.

The amazing thing, however, that I’ve discovered about the online Mormon community is that oftentimes in which I read something particularly profound, it is usually regarding something I’d already discovered in my own studies. To see someone else putting my thoughts and impressions into words has given me a quiet assurance that I am not alone and that I am on the right track.

There is much to be gained by sharing our personal perspectives so long as no one is claiming to be a prophet.

Even people we consider completely deluded can be of value in understanding the scriptures more fully if we try and understand their point of view and figure out at which point they erred in doctrine. One wrong turn and there’s no telling what dangerous conclusions one can arrive at based on false assumptions.

I challenge anyone who reads this—and vehemently disagrees—to point out which false assumptions I may have. I will not be discouraged, but encouraged to explain my positions better or to even rethink them entirely. I in fact dubbed this paper as a redux to the post which easily caused me the most embarrassment as I revisited my previous postings.

I was very proud of myself for having put the Elijah controversy, in my mind, to rest. Rethinking my assumptions was a difficult band-aid to rip off, but doing so will always be necessary in the search for truth.

We are not to have a “testimony” of every little thing that pops into our minds. Being dogmatic is what allowed the LDS church to transfigure almost every single doctrine of the restoration. The unwillingness of LDS members to question their beliefs has placed or kept them in a state of, “hidden darkness.” (2nd Nephi 3:5) The darkness is hidden—unapparent to them—because they wrongfully believe themselves to be living in the light of the fulness of the gospel.

The point of this tangent is to prep you for what is now to follow.

When I began this blog I was careful to shy away from delving into the atonement statute of Leviticus 16, mostly because its implications are too bizarre to comprehend let alone explain. Here I am going to dive straight in and do my very best to make as much sense as possible, God permitting.

The train of thought that has led me to write this post began five years ago when I was reading through The Book of Mormon for the first time on my mission. Although I’d read the BoM many times before, on my mission I was then reading it through the lens of someone who believed it to be an authentic record that contained the immutable and perfect word of God. Everything in it had purpose. I hung off every word and took what it said seriously to the fullest extent I could.

I suspect that most readers of the BoM shrug off the things contained in it that don’t make immediate sense to them. What doesn’t fit in with their religious worldview is attributed to wrong-doing on their part. They think the problem is them and that they aren’t understanding the scriptures correctly.

3rd Nephi chapter’s 20 and 21 speak of the marred servant who is the suffering servant of Isaiah 53, who is understood to be Jesus Christ. However, Christ speaks of the suffering servant not as himself but as a man who will declare the fulness of the gospel!

This is the greatest piece of evidence that multiple atonement’s pertain to the plan of salvation. Someone other than Christ would have their, “soul [as] an offering for sin.” (Isaiah 53:11)

Before my mission I had come across the blog onewhoiswatching.wordpress.com and familiarized myself with the controversial belief that the atonement statute of Leviticus 16 was a type and shadow of what occurred with the deaths of Joseph and Hyrum and the subsequent excommunication of Sidney Rigdon. I found the premise interesting but rejected the idea as what I deemed to be a perfect example of “looking beyond the mark.”

Little did I know that one day I would embrace the theology wholeheartedly—and even, perhaps, take it a step further.

When I realized that Christ himself spoke of the suffering servant as a separate individual I had no choice but to consider the possibility that an atonement other than the great, infinite and eternal atonement of Jesus Christ was necessary in God’s plan to bring to pass the immortality and eternal life of man.

As Abinadi taught in Mosiah 14 and 15, Jesus Christ was indeed the suffering servant of Isaiah 53, but this relates to the first watch. When Christ came to the Nephites he declared that all things spoken by Isaiah, “have been, and shall be.” (3rd Nephi 23:3) In other words, Isaiah would be re-fulfilled.

The puzzle of Leviticus 16 is not evidence enough to prove an atonement offering was made in the latter-days, because Leviticus 16 came to fruition even in the meridian of time.

In the atonement statute, three animals are to be sacrificed while one animal remains a living sacrifice to bear the iniquity and be cast into the wilderness.

John the Baptist was the bullock, the first offering.

Judas was the goat to have its blood spilled, while John the Beloved/Revelator was clearly the scapegoat who did not die but lived in exile.

Christ, of course, was the ram/sheep/lamb who accompanies the statute as the burnt offering.

The Bible was immaculately designed to give the deceived a false impression that no further word of God is necessary. However we verily know The Book of Mormon to be an authentic work of scripture. And by believing this to be so we must come to the conclusion that a servant in the last days—who the kings of the world will shut their mouths to—will make his soul an offering for sin. Leviticus 16 therefore comes to fruition in both the first and second watch.

The suffering servant of Isaiah 53 is described as:

marred

a root

an arm of the Lord

a lamb

One can make a good case that it is Sidney Rigdon. This is because he is a root of Jesse and an arm of the Lord. The marred servant will also “declare” the marvelous work, which seems in line with Sidney’s role as the spokesman (Section 100) to declare what Joseph the seer brings forth as scripture. However, if we look at the atonement statute of Leviticus 16, Sidney is not a lamb, but a goat. He is clearly the scapegoat that does not die but is instead cast off into the wilderness. Rigdon therefore cannot be the suffering servant of the second watch because he is not the lamb of Leviticus 16.

David W. Patten was the bullock, first to die. He was martyred not unlike John the Baptist, and like John the Baptist was called to minister to the Jews as a member of the Twelve whose commission came after the Gentiles rejected the fulness of the gospel.

Hyrum was the goat. Like Judas, Hyrum chose his fate by deciding to turn himself in with Joseph to Carthage jail. And like Judas, it was Hyrum’s actions that lead to the death of the lamb.

The lamb is then Joseph; and as I’ve already established, the scapegoat is Sidney. The scapegoat is cast out of Israel into the wilderness by the hand of a “fit man” which most assuredly was Brigham Young who excommunicated Sidney and took dominion over the kingdom of the Jews.

Joseph even said that he was going to Carthage jail, “like a lamb.” (D&C 135:4)

Evidence that Joseph was offering his soul as an offering for sin is hinted at in the first verse of Section 124, where the Lord says unto Joseph, “I am well pleased with your offering […] for unto this end have I raised you up, that I might show forth my wisdom through the weak things of the earth.

The other weak thing of the earth is Sidney Rigdon—who, not surprisingly, is told in the very same revelation, “to offer an acceptable offering,” (verse 104) by remaining with the people he clearly knew to be apostate. He carried the burden of their sins when they banished him to consume their lusts and go after other gods than the God of Israel.

In the past I believed the atonement of Joseph and Sidney and others was for the terrestrial souls who refused to be sanctified by the blood of Jesus Christ and instead put their trust in their own works. The latter-day atonement was to preserve the Jews in a preparatory gospel which would enable them to receive a terrestrial glory rather than that of a telestial.

My realization that that the arm of the Lord is both Joseph and Sidney has made me reconsider this. Joseph and Sidney are extensions of the Lord, and the implications of that are too great to ignore. In Section 35, God refers to the weak things—Joseph and Sidney—as his very own arms, and that they will fight in behalf of God. “Their enemies shall be under their feet.” (verse 14)
This is reminiscent of Section 76, where God is to “subdue all enemies under his feet”—but this only occurs in the “fulness of times” when God has “perfected his work.” (verse 106)

God has not perfected his work!

Lehi speaks to his son, Jacob: “I know that thou art redeemed, because of the righteousness of thy Redeemer; for thou hast beheld that in the fulness of time he cometh to bring salvation unto men.” (2nd Nephi 2:3)

Although we can be redeemed and receive the promises of salvation during any point of time within the earth’s temporal existence, this is due to the works of God wrought in the first, second, and third watch. It appears that it is only in the third watch—the fulness of times—that God completes his work of salvation.

Before dying on the cross, Christ’s last words were, “It is finished.” But notably, Christ expounds on this in Section 19: “I partook and finished my preparations unto the children of men.” (verse 19)

Amulek prophesies that the sacrifice which is infinite and eternal will not be a sacrifice of man, implying that what differentiates Christ’s atonement from the atonement of Joseph is that Christ was not a man, he was God. Christ did not have mortal blood! (JST John 1:13) The other important thing Amulek brings up in Alma 34 is that the blood of man cannot atone for the sins of another.

The atonement of Joseph Smith was not to atone for sins, but was because of sins.

Nevertheless, God was manifesting himself through this offering to show forth his wisdom to us in hidden darkness that we may understand how to receive salvation in the dispensation of the fulness of times when it is clear that we have not been sanctified during this time of apostasy.

Ether 12:27: “And if men come unto me I will show unto them their weakness. I give unto men weakness that they may be humble; and my grace is sufficient for all men that humble themselves before me; for if they humble themselves before me, and have faith in me, then will I make weak things become strong unto them.

If we learn humility and have a saving faith in Christ, weak things will become strong unto us. And what are the weak things? Joseph and Sidney!! Our weaknesses were expertly reflected in the mortals of Joseph and Sidney.

We will not be sanctified until we exercise the same faith as the brother of Jared. (Ether 4:7) Joseph and Sidney exercised this faith but due to the iniquity of the early Saints—and all of us—the weak things were not made strong in the second watch.

When we have rended the veil of unbelief and repented of our iniquity, the weak things of the earth will fulfill their missions and bring salvation unto us, perfecting the work of God.

1 Nephi 11 explains that the condescension of God was his ministry as Jesus Christ in the meridian of time. 2nd Nephi 4 refers to this condescension as one of mercy. 2nd Nephi 9 then lets it slip that there are multiple condescension’s of God.

Section 88 teaches there are three laws: the law of mercy, the law of justice, and the law of judgment. If God’s first condescension was of mercy, does it not make sense to conclude that two more condescension’s would occur, one in the spirit of justice and another in judgment? Is Joseph Smith’s life an example of God’s justice, reflecting unto us the reality of having not accepted the law of mercy through a saving faith?

“We like sheep have gone astray; we have turned every one to his own way; and the Lord hath laid on him the iniquity of us all.” (Isaiah 53:6)

We have not been born of God and continue to sin, and this is a result of not coming unto Christ and accepting the mercy and grace that comes through relying wholly upon the merits of him who is mighty to save.

“If the day cometh that the power and gifts of God shall be done away among you, it shall be because of unbelief. And wo be unto the children of men if this be the case; for there shall be none that doeth good among you, no not one.” (Moroni 10:24-25)

The day prophesied of Moroni has come. We live in a time where the power and gifts of God are not on the earth, where none doeth good. We are not living under the law of mercy. The daily sacrifice of a broken heart and a contrite spirit (D&C 59) has been taken away as prophesied by Daniel.

Joseph Smith did not die that we may be forgiven of our sins. That was accomplished by Christ. However, Joseph took the justice of God upon himself by acting out our sins and dying justly for them. Isaiah 53:11 implicitly states that the marred servant will justify many. It does not state that he will bring mercy and grace.

For committing iniquity the Davidic servant was chastened by God through the stripes of men (2nd Samuel 7:14) and now resides in hell. Through those stripes we have the opportunity to be healed (Isaiah 53:5) but only once the marred servant himself is healed and once again brings salvation to the world through faith in the atoning blood of Christ.

D&C 97:2: “I, the Lord, show mercy unto all the meek, and upon all whomsoever I will, that I may be justified when I shall bring them unto judgment.

Joseph Smith has justified us that we may be converted and healed by the Lord’s mercy at a further time after having rejected him. This is particularly relevant to those of us who are very likely the descendants of the Jews who collectively crucified Christ and suffer from the curse in which our ancestors put upon us.

“His blood be on us and our children.” (Matt 27:25)

We are only free from generational curses if we seek the Lord with all of our heart and soul and are obedient to his voice. (Deut 4:29-30) Being honest with myself, I’ve concluded that I have not done this. Just as the Jews rejected Christ and the Gentiles rejected him again in the second watch, I too have rejected him. Even during our time of apostasy where the holy order and ordinances thereof are not to be found on the earth, we are still accountable for not rending the veil of our unbelief when we have a knowledge of the fulness of the gospel. It appears in Ether 12:27 that the weak things becoming strong is contingent on us having a true faith Christ.

We are not relying on Joseph and Sidney to save us. They are relying on us! “If there be no faith among the children of men God can do no miracle among them.” (Ether 12:12)

Joseph Smith took the justice of God upon himself on behalf of those that have continually rejected Christ while Joseph himself did not. Having rejected Christ’s infinite and eternal atonement, we definitively deserve the justice of God, but we have been justified by Joseph and will either humble ourselves and become meek to receive mercy, or we will be brought unto judgment.

“The life of my servant shall be in my hand; therefore they shall not hurt him, although he shall be marred because of them. Yet I will heal him, for I will show unto them that my wisdom is greater than the cunning of the devil.” (3rd Nephi 21:10)

The marring and healing of God’s anointed servant is to show forth God’s wisdom! Which is exactly what God relates when he accepts Joseph’s offering in Section 124: “I am well pleased with your offering […] for unto this end have I raised you up, that I might show forth my wisdom through the weak things of the earth.”

The 1828 Webster dictionary defines marring as, “To injure; to hurt; to impair the strength or purity of.

The purity of Joseph Smith was impaired by the atonement offering he made after the world rejected the sanctifying power he offered. Instead of being translated and leaving the corrupted vineyard behind, he made an intercession, telling the Lord of the vineyard to, “Spare it a little longer.” (Jacob 5:50)

Had Joseph and Sidney gone forth in power during the second watch to put all enemies under their feet, that would have included the entire world and nearly all of the Saints. Right now we are to, “Be subject to the powers that be, until he reigns whose right it is to reign, and subdues all enemies under his feet.” (D&C 58:22)

Curiously, it is in that same revelation that Sidney Rigdon is assigned to consecrate and dedicate the land of Zion for the temple. Why was Sidney given this role and not Joseph? Because this is to be accomplished in the third watch, and it is in the third watch that Sidney will act as Christ/Elias as one who has been identified as an arm of the Lord.

D&C 49:6: “[Christ] will reign till he descends on the earth to put all enemies under his feet, which time is nigh at hand—”

This is clearly another condescension of God. Referring back to the 1828 Webster dictionary, the word condescension is defined as: “Voluntary descent from rank.”

Christ will reign in the heavens until he descends on the earth, and will not reign again until all enemies are subdued.

With that said, will Jesus Christ literally come down to the earth and subdue the enemies? Is not that the duty of the weak things of the earth? What if Christ condescends by virtue of the servants he has deemed as his two arms?

Section 36: “I will lay my hand upon you by the hand of my servant.” (verse 2)

This is a curious doctrine which informs us of Christ’s ability to infuse himself within a mortal to perform the functions of the priesthood. According to Section 84, Esais received the priesthood under the literal hand of God, but with Section 36 in mind it’s clear to see that the hand of God is through the indwelling of Christ in the mortal who performs the ordinance.

What is stopping Christ from indwelling inside tabernacles of flesh during other missions and ordinances?

I do not hesitate to suggest that Christ did in fact dwell in Joseph and shared in his experiences as he acted out the sins we are all responsible for. Due to God’s inability to commit sin, he would need a mortal vessel to understand what it is like to commit iniquity.

When Revelation 11 speaks of the latter-day stage for the two prophets in America, John identifies the location as, “where also our Lord was crucified.” (verse 8)

If you are of the belief that the two prophets will in fact emerge out of America and not the old world it becomes clear that John was hinting that the Lord was not only crucified in in ancient Jerusalem but again in the Jerusalem of the United States—the land surrounding that which has been designated as Zion.

Of course Joseph was not crucified, the favoured practice of the Jews, but killed by the weapons of choice which define the culture of gentile-America. To be gunned down is the contemporary equivalent of being crucified.

Due to the justice of God, Joseph was cast into hell as prophesied by God unto him in Section 122: “The very jaws of hell shall gape open the mouth wide after thee.” (verse 7) However, “He shall see of the travail of his soul.” (Isaiah 53:11)

After God chastens the Davidic servant by the rod of men we are told that God’s mercy does not depart from him. (2nd Samuel 7:15)

Joseph Smith will return to the earth to fulfill his mission. He is the angel of Revelation 7 who has been given the seal of the living God over the twelve tribes of Israel. This angel is described as ascending. Why would Joseph ascend and not descend from heaven? Because he is not in heaven and will be ascending from the deep. (D&C 122:7)

Sidney, on the other hand, will not be ascending in light of the prophecy of Section 49: “He descends on the earth to put all enemies under his feet.” (verse 6)

In the third watch, God will condescend in the person of Sidney Rigdon. After having condescended in mercy as Jesus Christ, in justice through Joseph Smith, he will once again condescend through his second arm in bringing judgment.

Section 124 prophesies that the atonement offering of Sidney Rigdon would result in him lifting up his voice on the mountains.

Isaiah 18:3 speaks of an ensign being lifted on the mountains, which is a clear reference to Sidney. He is the one to raise the ensign, which is elaborated on even further in Section 113. The Root of Jesse is, “a descendant of Jesse, as well as of Joseph, unto whom rightly belongs the priesthood, and the keys of the kingdom, for an ensign, and for the gathering of my people in the last days.” (verse 6)

Because we know Sidney raises the ensign we know that the Root of Jesse is not Joseph.

The root of Jesse holds the priesthood and keys of the kingdom by right, which is why I infer the passage, “until he reigns whose right it is to reign, and subdues all enemies under his feet,” (D&C 58:22) to the man Sidney Rigdon, due to the undeniable evidence that he is the one to raise the ensign.

So the next question becomes: Why does Sidney have a right to the keys of kingdom and not Joseph?

This is because of their true identities as individuals who have lived through a previous mortal probation. Joseph did not receive the keys of the kingdom individually until he received them in 1836. Before that point he held them jointly with Frederick G. Williams by virtue of Sidney Rigdon within the Presidency of the High Priesthood.

It is only once Sidney Rigdon joins the church that the Saints are informed they have the kingdom! (D&C 35:27) Before stating that, two verses earlier it’s said, “Israel shall be saved in mine own due time; and by the keys which I have given shall they be led.” (verse 25)

This puzzled me, because Joseph did not receive the keys to gather Israel until Section 110, but in Section 35 those keys have apparently already been given. But that is because Sidney already held those keys!

Would he have gotten them any other way than Joseph did? I don’t think so.

The final necessary keys of the kingdom are dispensed by Moses and John the Baptist/Elijah (Elias). Although Christ ordained his apostles unto the Melchizedek priesthood, they were visited by Moses and Elias on the mount of transfiguration for reasons not made clear in the New Testament accounts.

In Section 110, Joseph Smith and Oliver Cowdery are visited by the same two angelic prophets, only this time we learn for what purpose. They are given the keys to gather Israel by Moses while John the Baptist commits the dispensation of the gospel of Abraham.

In the past I have assumed that the dispensation of the gospel of Abraham was a downgrade from the fulness of the gospel, but have rethought this completely. The gospel of Abraham is integral to the fulness of the gospel as it pertains to the gathering of Israel under the full authority of the keys of the kingdom.

If my assumption is correct that Moses and John the Baptist were endowing Joseph and Oliver with the same gifts they gave to Peter, James, and John, there is no reason to think the dispensation of the gospel of Abraham represents a lesser dispensation.

The Book of Abraham can be viewed in light of Section 110 to provide the clues necessary in understanding the true meaning behind the elusive gospel of Abraham. The patriarch is told, “Thou shalt be a blessing unto thy seed after thee, that in their hands they shall bear this ministry and Priesthood unto all nations; And I will bless them through thy name; for as many as receive this Gospel shall be called after thy name, and shall be accounted thy seed, and shall rise up and bless thee, as their father.” (2:9-10)

John the Baptist is Elijah who is to turn the hearts of the children to the fathers, so of course it is John the Baptist who commits the dispensation of the gospel of Abraham! But the purpose of it is to bear that ministry and priesthood unto all nations which can only be done through the keys of gathering Israel.

Remember that Section 110 carefully explains that the keys of gathering Israel were given specifically to Joseph and Oliver and the dispensation of the gospel of Abraham is only stated to have relevance to to them respectively.

Returning back to Abraham 2: “This right shall continue in thee, and in thy seed after thee […] shall all the families of the earth be blessed, even with the blessings of the Gospel, which are the blessings of salvation, even of life eternal.” (verse 11)

The Abrahamic gospel has the power to bless the nations with the blessings of salvation of life eternal! This is no preparatory gospel. The gospel of Abraham is synonymous with the fulness of the gospel. Those that received the everlasting covenant of the fulness previous to April 3rd 1836 (Section 110) did so because Sidney Rigdon already held those keys and had been given the Abrahamic commission to bear the ministry, “unto all nations.” (Abraham 2:10)

“As many as shall come before my servants Sidney Rigdon and Joseph Smith, Jun., embracing this calling and commandment, shall be ordained and set forth to preach the everlasting gospel among the nations.” (D&C 36:5)

Until Sidney entered the picture, the church did not have the commission to preach the gospel unto the nations.

Joseph and Oliver were told that their gifts to translate would, “bring to light this ministry.” (D&C 6:28)

What ministry was God referring to? The existing ministry of Sidney Rigdon which both Joseph and Oliver were not yet aware of!

Before Joseph and Oliver received the priesthood by the hand of Elijah—as promised by Moroni (D&C 2)—to organize the Church of Christ, Rigdon had already been sent forth, “even as John, to prepare the way before me, and before Elijah which should come, and thou knewest it not. Thou didst baptize by water unto repentance, but they received not the Holy Ghost.” (D&C 35:4-5) It is assumed that the reason Rigdon did not bestow the Holy Ghost is because he did not have the priesthood authority but I will show this to be false. The following verse reads: “But now I give unto thee a commandment, that thou shalt baptize by water, and they shall receive the Holy Ghost by the laying on of the hands.” (verse 6)

The Lord does not tell Sidney to first be ordained by the authority held by Joseph and Oliver. He is called immediately to begin the laying on of hands for the Holy Ghost. Edward Partridge was thereafter ordained an elder by Sidney Rigdon, even though Sidney himself was never ordained an elder as far as I am aware.

So how did Sidney have the keys of the kingdom? The only sensible explanation is to propose that Sidney Rigdon is John the Beloved, and that he received the keys from Jesus Christ, Moses, and John the Baptist.

Before I explain this I want to turn to JST John 1.

When the Jews ask John the Baptist who he is, he does not deny that he is Elijah, but confesses, “I am not the Christ,” which puzzles them. They ask, “How then art thou Elias [Elijah]?”

The Jews believed Elijah was to be the promised Messiah!

This is why John says, “He it is of whom I bear record. He is that prophet, even Elias.”

John the Baptist refers to Christ as Elias because this is how the Jews will understand. As a true prophet, he is speaking to the people according to their understanding. (2nd Nephi 31:3) This is key in solving the Elias controversy.

Christ says, “Who is Elias? Behold, this is Elias, whom I send to prepare the way before me.” (JST Matt 17:13)

Just as John the Baptist identified Christ as Elijah, Christ identifies all who prepare the way before him as Elijah. But neither are literally Elijah. Elias—the Greek translation of Elijah—is a title promulgated for feeble minds to one day comprehend that which they currently don’t.

Elias will always mean Elijah, but due to the Jews limited understanding—and our own—Elias has become slang for a preparatory servant and for the Christ of all three watches. Jesus was Elias of the first watch; Joseph Smith was Elias of the second; and Sidney Rigdon will be the Elias of the third watch. Section 77 describes the angel ascending from hell as Elias in verse 9 and then refers to John the Beloved as Elias as well in verse 14.

The Lord and his two arms are the restorer of all things. They have all been dubbed as Elias, even though none of them are Elijah as Elias implies.

Section 77: “Q. What are we to understand by the little book which was eaten by John, as mentioned in the 10th chapter of Revelation? A. We are to understand that it was a mission, and an ordinance, for him to gather the tribes of Israel; behold, this is Elias, who, as it is written, must come and restore all things.” (verse 14)

The little book eaten by John was an ordinance that tasted sweet as honey but was bitter in the belly. This is not referring to his role as the scapegoat in both the first and second watch, but as his role as Christ in the third watch. Christ drank from the bitter cup (3rd Nephi 11:11) and when God goes forth as a mighty man (Isaiah 42:13) the man in which Christ indwells will retain the memory of the bitterness Christ suffered.

Once John realizes the bitterness of the ordinance and mission given unto him, it is related to his calling to once again prophesy before many peoples, and nations, and tongues, and kings. (Rev 10:11) Although many are prophesied to preach unto every nation, kindred, tongue, and people, Sidney Rigdon was given a direct commission unto the kings of the earth in Section 124:107 alongside the marred servant (and William Law who will be another great man of the last kingdom).

In Sidney’s patriarchal blessing he is told, “Thou shalt receive an ordination not many days hence which shall surpass all human understanding.” Clearly, Joseph Smith Sen. was filled with the spirit of prophecy! This ordination must have been the mysterious ordinance mentioned in Section 77:14. Christ had to have ordained Sidney—most likely through the instrumentality of Joseph—to be the Christ of the third watch.

If Sidney Rigdon is in fact John the Beloved who restores all things and holds the keys of the kingdom why is Joseph Smith necessary at all? The Rod of Jesse does not have nearly as many qualifications as the Root of Jesse. (D&C 113) The difference between the Rod and the Root is that the Rod is of Ephraim.

Joseph’s mixed lineage of Judah and Ephraim is what makes him entirely necessary.

The apostles asked Jesus after his resurrection, “Wilt thou at this time restore again the kingdom to Israel?” (Acts 1:6) Jesus responded that it was not for them to know the time in which he would do so.

What the apostles understood was that they were descendants of Judah, Levi, and Benjamin—the tribes of the southern kingdom of Judah—and that the keys of the kingdom, which they held, would need to be shared with someone of Ephraim—of the northern kingdom of Israel—according to the words of the prophets.

“For there shall be a day, that the watchmen upon the Mount Ephraim shall cry, Arise ye, and let us go up to Zion unto the Lord our God. […] They shall come with weeping, and with supplications will I lead them. […] For I am a father to Israel, and Ephraim is my first born.” (Jeremiah 31:6-9)

Jacob prophesied that all the tribes of Israel would bow down to the fruit of the loins of Joseph from generation to generation. (JST Genesis 48:10) The apostles knew that a second act needed to take place in which the keys of the kingdom were to be given unto Ephraim. Joseph Smith, a descendant of Ephraim, received these keys, and this is why he holds the seal of the living God over the twelve tribes of Israel, because they are to bow down unto him.

Jacob tells his son Joseph, “For thou shalt be a light unto my people, to deliver them in the days of their captivity, from bondage; and to bring salvation unto them, when they are altogether bowed down under sin.” (JST Genesis 48:11)

This is the role of Joseph Smith, who brings the righteous branch of Israel, “out of darkness unto light—yea, out of hidden darkness and out of captivity unto freedom.” (2nd Nephi 3:5)

Joseph Smith is Joseph of Egypt. Understanding Joseph to be the servant of the vineyard in Jacob 5 indicates that his ministry began long before the first watch, when the wild olive trees (Gentiles) were first grafted into the olive tree of Israel. Joseph Smith did this as Joseph of Egypt by marrying a Gentile woman.

Joseph brings salvation unto men, and began this by first bringing to light an existing ministry, even that of Sidney Rigdon. Sidney is therefore synonymous with salvation. I will also show he represents the kingdom of God and is the embodiment of the new and everlasting covenant.

“I have sent mine everlasting covenant into the world, to be a light to the world, and to be a standard for my people, and for the Gentiles to seek to it, and to be a messenger before my face to prepare the way before me.” (D&C 45:9)

I’ve incorrectly interpreted that passage to refer to Joseph (https://themarvelouswork.com/2017/01/10/the-prophet-pt-1-the-new-and-everlasting-covenant/) but Section 35 makes it clear that it was Sidney who was sent forth, “to prepare the way before me.” (verse 4)

Between Isaiah 11:1 and 41:6 we have all the keywords of Section 45 as it pertains to the Root of Jesse. He is a covenant, a light, a standard, and when he raises the ensign the Gentiles will seek after it.

Although Sidney was sent as John, an Elias-preparer, to prepare the way for Joseph, the Christ/Elias-restorer, in the third watch Joseph is the Elias-preparer to prepare the way for Sidney the Christ/Elias-restorer.

2nd Nephi 2:3: “In the fulness of time he cometh to bring salvation unto men.”

With all of this in mind, in closing let’s turn to Revelation 12 via the Joseph Smith Translation.

This chapter has been endlessly contested and usually raises more questions than provides answers. But with everything I’ve come to realize and now presented in this post, I find the chapter to read smoother than ever before.

Through the lens of the KJV Bible it makes the most sense to interpret the woman travailing in birth as Israel and the child she brings forth as Jesus Christ. But the JST says the woman is the church of God. (verse 7) How could the church of God exist and bring forth Christ when it is Christ who should be bringing forth the church? Therefore, the man-child born of the church is not Jesus. In fact, the text never explicitly purports this. The man-child is said to one day, “rule all nations with a rod of iron,” but is, “caught up unto God and his throne.” (verse 3) The rod of iron, according to 1 Nephi 11:25, is the word of God, and the word of God is Jesus in the flesh. (JST John 1:16)

If you believe the child to be Jesus, verse 3 of JST Rev 12 would then read: And she brought forth Jesus Christ who was to rule all nations with Jesus Christ.

So who could the man-child be?

It has to be John the Beloved, a member of the church of God who was caught up to heaven and did not experience death until the second watch. Jesus remarked cryptically that John would not taste of death until he saw the Son of Man coming in his kingdom. (Mathew 16:28)

John did see the Son of Man [as Joseph Smith] coming in his [John’s/Sidney’s] kingdom before he tasted of death! Keep in mind that the man-child is also referred to as the kingdom of God. (verse 8)

JST Revelation 12:1-5 relates to the first watch. Thereafter, the war in heaven occurs.

Section 50 purports that false spirits have gone forth in the earth, (verse 2) but it is only until Section 52 that we learn that Satan himself is abroad in the land! (verse 14)

This is because Satan was cast down to the earth during the Morley Farm conference which ended the day before Section 52 was given. It was during this conference that Joseph reported, “The man of sin was revealed, and the authority of the melechisedec priesthood was manifested and I conferred, the high priesthood for the first time, upon several of the elders.”

When Satan is cast down to the earth in JST Rev 12:8, the following verse says, “Now is come salvation, and strength, and the kingdom of our God and the power of his Christ.”

The blessings of salvation that accompany the kingdom of God return to the earth on the same day that Satan is cast down! Also keep in mind that the woman is the “church of God” and not the Church of Christ. The Church of God emerged on the earth with the restoration of the Melchizedek priesthood and it is only this church which offers sanctification.

“When the dragon saw that he was cast unto the earth, he persecuted the woman [the Church of God] which [had] brought forth the man-child [in the first watch]. Therefore, to the woman were given two wings of a great eagle, that she might flee into the wilderness, into her place, where she is nourished for a time, and times, and half a time, from the face of the serpent.” (13-14)

The Church of God was nourished for a time, and times, and half a time—or in other words, three and a half years—from the face of the serpent. Forty-two months after salvation came through the Melchizedek priesthood, the Saints broke the new and everlasting covenant. The fulness of the priesthood, in which the Church of God operates, was lost from the earth and Satan overcame the Saints.

“They received not the love of truth, that they might be saved. And for this cause God shall send them strong delusion, that they should believe a lie.” (2 Thess 2:10-11)

“ And now if this generation do harden their hearts against my word, behold I will deliver them up unto Satan.” (Book of Commandments 4:6)

Before the Second Coming, “there shall come a falling away first, and that man of sin be revealed, the son of perdition; who opposeth and exalteth himself above all that is called God, or that is worshipped; so that he as God sitteth in the temple of God shewing himself that he is God.” (JST 2 Thess 2:3-4)

Section 38 informs the church that the enemy is combined with the Saints and that a plan against them, “is had in secret chambers,” to bring to pass their destruction. (verse 13) Brigham Young was intimately involved with Masonry before uniting himself with the restored church. Did a secret combination involve Brigham working his way up the ranks of Mormonism until he took complete control?

Brigham Young would administer the masonic endowment unto the church membership in the corrupted Nauvoo temple. During this ceremony, Brigham would position himself in the role of God. Those initiated into the ceremony are told by Satan, “If they do not walk up to every covenant they make at these altars in this temple this day, they will be in my power!”

Regardless as to how sinister or oblivious Brigham was, the fact remains: God had delivered his people over to Satan. Without the sanctifying power of Christ’s authority, no one will be able to keep the commandments; and thus all who have entered into the covenants made in secret chambers are under the power of Satan.

“When ye shall see these things come among you that ye shall awake to a sense of your awful situation, because of this secret combination which shall be among you.” (Ether 8:24)

Awakening to a sense of this awful situation is the first step in removing oneself from the false traditions of our fathers. The next step is to learn the true nature of God, and thus begin to exercise a true faith in Christ which will bring about the miracles and works of God that will usher in the fulness of times and the redemption of Zion.

If I Were a Prophet pt. 4 “Sadhu Sundar Selvaraj”

Some years ago, I had a prejudice against mainstream Christianity.

I considered them all fools, and that Mormonism was a huge leap ahead of them.

Once I realized the apostasy of the LDS church, I reconsidered my prejudice and began accepting truth wherever I found it.

On my mission, someone gave me four books written by William Branham, a self-proclaimed prophet from the South who died in 1965.

I devoured those books and came to a stunning conclusion:

Branham was more inspired than any of the General Authorities.

Was Branham a true prophet?

No. In many areas he fell short. He was not a prophet. But reading his sermons taught me more about God’s word than a lifetime in the Mormon church had. Branham pointed to the scriptures and wasn’t afraid to make claims of Thus saith the Lord…

The General Authorities are afraid to take any risks.

After 9/11, Gordon B. Hinckley could say nothing but that he, “didn’t know” what the future held in store.

Just imagine if people actually started taking the Mormon church seriously… If they tuned in to General Conference, hoping to hear the words of God through an anointed prophet…

What would they hear?

Nothing of value. The “prophets” of the LDS church bring NOTHING to the table.

In part two of this series, I covered the prophecies of a man named John Johnson.

https://themarvelouswork.com/2017/01/29/if-i-were-a-prophet-pt-2-john-johnson/

Johnson had the balls to make prophecies, and they came to pass as he said they would.

I’ve come across many Christians who claim to have the spirit of prophecy. Many of these individuals, I believe, are inspired of God.

Another example of an inspired Christian is a man from India, Sadhu Sundar Selvaraj. Like Johnson, Sadhu has the balls to prophesy.

On August 10th, 2016, MONTHS before the election, Sadhu claimed to have had a vision in which he was told by a Council in Heaven that Donald Trump would be president.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qHN16P0LTnY

He didn’t softball it; he proclaimed it emphatically.

There was no and’s or if’s about it–

Sadhu risked his entire ministry. If Trump was not elected, he would be forever branded a false prophet. This is a mark of sincerity. He truly believed he had a vision. If it never came to pass, he would recognize the error of his ways and humbly submit that he had been deceived.

Yet I do not believe Sadhu to be an annointed prophet.

All I believe is that he is inspired. For instance, he understands that the rapture occurs mid-tribulation. Furthermore, he teaches that the first harvest of raptured Saints will return and assist the church through the rest of the tribulation–

This stuff is light years ahead of what Mormons think and believe in regards to the last days.

In my opinion, disciples of Christ are better off believing Sadhu to be a prophet, rather than to believe that the LDS church is the kingdom of God upon the earth.

A test I’ve practiced in trying to find inspired Christians is to see whether or not they slam Joseph Smith.

William Branham said Joseph Smith was a fine man, but that he taught falsehoods about God (King Follet sermon).

A fine man???

For a Christian to look past Joseph’s 30+ wives and call him a fine man says something.

The spirit inside them somehow knows he was not a servant of Satan.

They cannot accept his false teachings, yet they never speak out against him.

Here is what William Branham had to say about Joseph Smith:

Now, they may be present, some Mormon brethren or sisters, and they may be some get these tapes now. And I don’t want to say that… Some of the finest people I–you would want to meet would be–be in the Mormon people, very fine type of people; and then their–their prophet, Joseph Smith, that the Methodist people killed here in Illinois, on their journey over… And so then that–that fine man… And the vision, I don’t doubt at all but what he had the vision. I believe he’s a sincere man, but the vision he had was contrary to the Scripture;

To me this is quite profound.

Only the Spirit can teach someone that Joseph Smith was sincere.

Secular history proves without a doubt that Joseph was a fraud.

Only someone inspired by the Spirit will defend Joseph.

Someone REALLY inspired will defend Joseph’s revelations, and renounce his controversial Nauvoo ministry.

Someone really inspired will teach that Joseph was a fallen prophet, that he stopped abiding in the Lord after receiving Section 124.

But they will not hold him accountable.

They will teach that this was according to the providence of God.

Only the elect will understand the scriptures. If Joseph Smith had a squeaky clean record, there wouldn’t be a test.

God made it easy for the world to reject Joseph Smith.

In my last post, I recanted what Christ said about his followers:

My sheep hear my voice.

Those that recognize the word of God for what it is are the sheep of Jesus Christ.

It doesn’t matter where it comes from… Or who it comes from… Christ’s sheep know the truth! The truth which defies logic and mortal understanding. The truth which cannot be proven by secular history.

Polygamy, A Horror Story

As I came to understand the things of Mormon history, it became apparent to me that I would one day put it all into writing.

I wanted my blog to be a shadow of Alma 37. The prophecy tells us that in the last days there will be a servant of God, named Gazelem, who exposes the things of darkness.

I of course do not claim to be this servant, but I’ve wanted my blog to have that same calling.

Mark 4:

22 For there is nothing hid, which shall not be manifested; neither was any thing kept secret, but that it should come abroad.

Right now in the world we have people like Julian Assange and Edward Snowden. They are doing a fantastic job at exposing corporations for what they really are, as well as bringing to light the countless war-crimes committed in the name of American government.

They are doing what Gazelem will, only Gazelem will be revealing things on an even grander scale.

Wikileaks has just barely scratched the surface.

Recently, there is now a Mormonleaks.

https://mormonleaks.io/#about

Since its inception, I’ve been anticipating each release of whatever document ends up in their hands. There’s no telling what nuggets of truth will come from that website. The inner-workings of the LDS church is full of hypocrisy and lies.

Because of Mormonleaks, we know for certain the thing we always suspected: there IS a paid ministry. From what I’ve gathered, the apostles are raking in a six-digit salary on top of all their perks.

But the LDS church no longer interests me.

It was rejected of God by 1842. It’s a miracle that it has somehow sustained itself after everything that happened when Brigham, John, and Wilford were presidents.

Besides, we don’t need Mormonleaks to expose the things that the scriptures have already made clear.

The Gentiles rejected the fulness of the gospel, as told to us by Christ in 3rd Nephi 16.

It’s as simple as that.

However, Mormonleaks provides some interesting context, and will no doubt have an effect on blind Israel. Some will finally realize that their shepherds have been scattering them, not gathering them.

Heavy burdens have been put on the backs of the membership.

However, the need for a prophet and community has conjured Denver Snuffer into the spotlight.

The Saints are not leaving the church in favor of what the scriptures teach. They are leaving because of bullshitters like Grant Palmer, Jeremy Runnells, and, of course, Davey Snuffer.

This morning I perused Grant Palmer’s anti-Mormon book, “An Insider’s View of Mormon Origins,” and was blown away by how ridiculous it is.

I originally read it as a non-believer, and thought it was thoughtfully written.

Now I find all his contentions absolutely laughable.

He was an institute director for the LDS church for 35 years. You’d think all that studying would have opened his eyes to the truthfulness of God’s word.

In his disillusionment of the church, his faith has fallen to pieces. He claims to still believe in Christ, but he does not know Christ.

Christ says, “My sheep hear my voice.”

When the Lord speaks, his sheep hear it!

Anyone that rejects the Book of Mormon, or the revelations of Joseph Smith, are not in the fold of God.

Likewise, anyone that believes in false prophets, are not the sheep of Christ, but the sheep of the devil. (Alma 5)

I of course hope that many will recognize the error of their ways and accept the fulness of the gospel when the times of the Gentiles comes in for the last time–

Just because someone is deceived, doesn’t mean they don’t have a chance.

We all fall short in one area or another.

I am by no means righteous. I might understand the scriptures better than most, but that doesn’t make me better than anyone.

Yet righteousness is the standard in which we all need to be striving for.

I was blasted by a Snufferite who told me that I should not point out Denver Snuffer’s flaws. Prophets aren’t perfect, right?

Some are, actually.

In any case, Mosiah 23 says,

14 And also trust no one to be your teacher nor your minister, except he be a man of God, walking in his ways and keeping his commandments.

Denver Snuffer is not of God.

Those of God are not deceived; they recognize the voice of the Lord. Denver rejects Section 110, which contains Christ speaking. He has also broken the commandment of monogamy and remarried. He is not a man of God, and therefore I will not trust him as my teacher.

*

When I was beginning to have the scriptures illuminated before me by the spirit of revelation, I realized that Section 132, and polygamy in general, was entirely false.

By the spirit of revelation, I finally understood this passage of Isaiah… “In that day seven women shall take hold of one man…”

In my younger years, I used to think that was evidence for the truthfulness of polygamy. I now understand what Isaiah was actually saying:

1 And in that day seven women shall take hold of one man, saying, We will eat our own bread, and wear our own apparel: only let us be called by thy name, to take away our reproach.

2 In that day shall the branch of the Lord be beautiful and glorious, and the fruit of the earth shall be excellent and comely for them that are escaped of Israel.

3 And it shall come to pass, that he that is left in Zion, and he that remaineth in Jerusalem, shall be called holy,

The beautiful branch of the Lord is not the polygamists, but those that ESCAPED Israel!

So I knew that polygamy would make a comeback, and when it did, the holy ones would escape and be in Zion/Jerusalem.

I used to think that the LDS church would bring back polygamy.

But I no longer believe this to be the case. Polygamy is going to pop its head back up, but it won’t be the LDS church.

I’ve now been saying for almost two years that Denver Snuffer will bring back polygamy; or, at very least, allow it to occur.

Mormonleaks has brought an interesting document to the table.

Snufferites are engaging in spiritual wifery!!!!!!

Of course, these “sealings” are “spiritual”.

They’re just doing what they believe Joseph did!

Denver has taught repeatedly that Joseph had himself sealed to multiple women.

However, he teaches that Joseph did not engage in sexual relations.

That was Brigham Young’s style, not Joseph’s.

Because of Snufferites belief in Denver’s teachings, they believe that Joseph Smith did not commit adultery, but that multiple sealings are ordained of God.

In the Snufferite movement it will become common-place to have yourself sealed to multiple others.

It’ll be “spiritual” – but eventually there will be sexual incidences. When this happens, Denver will not speak against it. He will give the people exactly what they want.

Denver will also introduce esoteric rituals into his temple.

Not the ones Brigham introduced, he says, but the endowment that Joseph revealed! Denver will finally bring it back… uh-huh.

The Snufferites believe that Joseph Smith did not fall from his station as prophet. They think he was teaching truth when he sealed himself to multiple women, introduced endowment ceremonies, and taught the King Follet Sermon.

Because they refuse to accept the cold hard truth about Joseph, they are going to fall for the exact same crap that the Nauvoo saints fell for.

History repeats itself.

And all of it will be made known.

Alma 37:

23 And the Lord said: I will prepare unto my servant Gazelem, a stone, which shall shine forth in darkness unto light, that I may discover unto my people who serve me, that I may discover unto them the works of their brethren, yea, their secret works, their works of darkness, and their wickedness and abominations.

Those that serve Christ, will know the truth of all things.

God will discover unto us all the secret works of darkness that are being committed by our brethren.

Why I Pray For Donald Trump pt. 2

Okay, enough about Davey Snuffer.

Let’s talk about someone who will actually do something good for God’s people.

When Trump was elected, I was ecstatic. I think I really fell in love with him when he told Hilary—during one of the debates—that if he was President, she would be in jail. He also went on record saying that he would appoint a special prosecutor to investigate Hilary.

That was a beautiful moment.

However, Trump was an instant let-down.

When asked about whether or not he would go through with his threats, he responded that the Clinton’s were, “good people.”

I almost crapped myself.

Good people?

WTF Donald Trump, you’re corrupt just like the rest of them!

I now realize my impressions were wrong: Donald Trump had played a very, very wise move.

Saying the Clinton’s were good people was a ploy.

People think Trump is an idiot, but only a brilliant man could rise up to his position. He’s no Saint, but he’s no fool.

He knows exactly what he’s got his ass into.

He knew that he needed the Clinton administration to think they were safe, and that his words at the debates were nothing but empty threats. What he was doing… was buying time.

Trump is aware that he is surrounded by pedophiles. Then again, it doesn’t take a genius to figure this out.

The Clinton administration KNEW that Anthony Weiner was sexually involved with a teenager…

http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-3890748/Clinton-s-inner-circle-knew-FIVE-YEARS-AGO-Anthony-Weiner-talking-underage-girl-did-it.html

…and the Obama administration was no different:

Take a look here at Joe Biden sexually molesting little girls…

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DwXweiRjckI

The video speaks for itself. Say what you will about “pizzagate”, but Joe Biden is obviously a sick SOB.

Trump, and his family, are actual human beings.

Trump’s daughter is actively involved in the work against human trafficking.

http://www.breitbart.com/big-government/2017/02/24/ivanka-trump-pushes-white-house-agenda-human-trafficking/

Believe it or not, but since Trump took the White House, things are actually getting done.

In 2014 there were only 400 arrests made on pedophiles.

https://ucr.fbi.gov/crime-in-the-u.s/2014/crime-in-the-u.s.-2014/additional-reports/human-trafficking-report/human-trafficking.pdf

Did you know that after only ONE month in office, from just January to February, there was 1,500 arrests!!!!???

https://townhall.com/columnists/lizcrokin/2017/02/25/why-the-msm-is-ignoring-trumps-sex-trafficking-busts-n2290379

I believe that this surge of arrests is due to having a President who is not part of the NWO.

Trump is busting pedophilia rings right, left, and center.

Of course, the media doesn’t cover this.

I believe Donald Trump is carefully putting his efforts into doing as much good as possible without pissing off the powers that be.

It’s only a matter of time until he is assassinated for the same reasons that JFK was, or he succeeds in cleansing the corrupt government.

I, of course, pray for the latter.

John F. Kennedy knew the world was being controlled by secret societies.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=y8HTr-F-FVM

Fifty years later, Donald J. Trump is now in the same boat as JFK.

Kennedy was not a perfect man, but he was against all odds trying to take down a corrupt system. Trump, too, may have some poor morals, but this war is bigger than adultery. Lives are at stake.

Pray for Donald Trump.

Doctrine of Denver Conference pt. 2 “Q&A”

Denver Snuffer said in his Q&A:

Rigdon advised Joseph to build a New Testament church… and it didn’t work!

THIS IS SO PROBLEMATIC ON SO MANY LEVELS I DONT KNOW WHERE TO START

Denver believes that Joseph was wrong in restoring a New Testament church.

Holy crap.

How thick can you get?

The Snufferites reject the D&C, so I guess it makes sense.

They have rejected Section 20—how to govern The Church of Christ—for their own system of things: http://scriptures.info/Scriptures/pgp/gov_principles/

I have something to declare:

Rigdon was not in charge and did not “influence” Joseph Smith in any way.

Joseph Smith, himself, was not in charge.

God was!

The revelations that preceded forth by the mouth of God are the will of God! You cannot trade and replace it for something else.

Another thing from the Q&A that raised serious alarms was this:

Denver is against the use of “thees” and “thous” and “ye.” He thinks our scriptures should be modern sounding.

So… He is against the biblical language that enables us to use keyword searches to connect the dots between the standard works! To change the language of God’s word is so dangerous…

God’s word is meticulously designed that we may understand its entirety.

Denver has become a major stumbling block to people who want to understand the scriptures.

If you take anything Denver Snuffer says seriously, you will never understand the scriptures or Mormon history.

To believe Sidney Rigdon is to be blamed for how things in the Restoration went is beyond ridiculous.

Sidney Rigdon, unlike Dave Snuffer, was anointed by God.

This is how the Lord speaks of him and his anointed:

As many as shall come before my servants Sidney Rigdon and Joseph Smith, Jun., embracing this calling and commandment, shall be ordained and sent forth to preach the everlasting gospel among the nations— D&C 36:5

In order to preach the gospel among the nations, you must come before Sidney Rigdon and Joseph Smith.

Kind of a big deal.

Zechariah speaks of these two servants: “These are the two anointed ones, that stand by the Lord of the whole earth.” (Zech 4:14)

One of these anointed ones is termed “The Branch”.

The Branch prophet is to build the final temple and bear the glory. (Zech 6)

Is it any wonder that Sidney Rigdon was put in charge in dedicating the temple lot in Missouri?

The Snufferites do not read the Doctrine and Covenants, nor do they take it seriously.

They just trust Davey Snuffer. He knows what he’s doing!

Denver claims to have received the new name of David. This infers that he will be the final shepherd over the flock of God.

Here is one such example, found in Ezekiel 34:

23 And I will set up one shepherd over them, and he shall feed them, even my servant David; he shall feed them, and he shall be their shepherd.

24 And I the Lord will be their God, and my servant David a prince among them; I the Lord have spoken it.

I’m here to say that the servant David is NOT Denver Snuffer.

*

First let me delve into a deep piece of doctrine. I believe that Shiloh is not the Messiah, but Sidney Rigdon.

8 ¶ Judah, thou art he whom thy brethren shall praise: thy hand shall be in the neck of thine enemies; thy father’s children shall bow down before thee.

9 Judah is a lion’s whelp: from the prey, my son, thou art gone up: he stooped down, he couched as a lion, and as an old lion; who shall rouse him up?

10 The sceptre shall not depart from Judah, nor a lawgiver from between his feet, until Shiloh come; and unto him shall the gathering of the people be.

Judah has always been in the leadership positions. From the time of Moses, to Brigham Young, Judah has been the lawgiver. This is the way it will always be, until Shiloh comes, to whom the gathering will be for the dispensation of the fulness of times.

Shiloh will be from Judah.

Zechariah 8:

23 Thus saith the Lord of hosts; In those days it shall come to pass, that ten men shall take hold out of all languages of the nations, even shall take hold of the skirt of him that is a Jew, saying, We will go with you: for we have heard that God is with you.

Another meaning for “Shiloh” is “whose right it is”–

The D&C speaks of this.

58:22 Wherefore, be subject to the powers that be, until he reigns whose right it is to reign, and subdues all enemies under his feet.

Remember, it is Christ speaking in the D&C, and the person who reigns whose right it is therefore is not Christ.

So Shiloh is not Christ.

It is Sidney Rigdon.

Sidney Rigdon is the root of Jesse, of pure Jewish descent. Joseph was the rod of Jesse, both Ephraim and Judah.

In Section 28, the Saints were called on a mission and told to preach to the Lamanites.

They thought it was an unsuccessful mission. But were able to preach to the Campbellite minister and his flock.

What they never realized was that Sidney Rigdon was the Lamanite they were called to preach to!

Although, keep in mind, Rigdon was not from the tribe of Manesseh… Remember, the blood of Zedekiah, king of Judah, was also in the Americas.

Rigdon was Shiloh, whose right it will be to reign!

Right now we are to be subject to the powers that control us, until he finally comes to reign.

In regards to the Root of Jesse, the Lord says in Section 113

6 Behold, thus saith the Lord, it is a descendant of Jesse, as well as of Joseph, unto whom rightly belongs the priesthood, and the keys of the kingdom, for an ensign, and for the gathering of my people in the last days.

To him will be the gathering of the people, just like Genesis 39 says!

As many as shall come before my servants Sidney Rigdon and Joseph Smith, Jun., embracing this calling and commandment, shall be ordained and sent forth to preach the everlasting gospel among the nations— D&C 36:5

John the Baptist/Elijah will overthrow the LDS church.

Joseph Smith will redeem Zion, and gather the tribes of Israel with Sidney Rigdon.

Anyone wanting to be a missionary will have to come before Joseph and Sidney, the two anointed ones that stand by the Lord of the earth.

Lastly, Genesis 39 speaks of Shiloh when the blessing is given to Judah; it also speaks of the shepherd which actually comes from Joseph!

22 ¶ Joseph is a fruitful bough, even a fruitful bough by a well; whose branches run over the wall:

23 The archers have sorely grieved him, and shot at him, and hated him:

24 But his bow abode in strength, and the arms of his hands were made strong by the hands of the mighty God of Jacob; (from thence is the shepherd, the stone of Israel:)

This is Joseph Smith! The rod of Jesse!

Much power is given to the rod of Jesse, which is what he will need to redeem Zion. But he is not the Davidic king, whose right it is to reign. But… Genesis 39:24 says that he is a shepherd, which is what “David” is supposed to be: a shepherd to the people.

Take a look at Hosea 3:

Afterward shall the children of Israel return, and seek the LORD their God, and David their king; and shall fear the LORD and his goodness in the latter days.

Now let’s return to Ezekiel 34:

23 And I will set up one shepherd over them, and he shall feed them, even my servant David; he shall feed them, and he shall be their shepherd.

24 And I the Lord will be their God, and my servant David a prince among them; I the Lord have spoken it.

Have you figured it out???

Sidney Rigdon is the Davidic King!

Joseph Smith is the Davidic prince, the shepherd.

The two anointed ones to stand by the Lord of the Earth. They are coming to the earth to gather the people for a witness to all nations.

And let me tell you… Sidney Rigdon is gonna have quite a word with Davey Snuffer…

Doctrine of Denver Conference

Things were starting to cool off in the Mormon world.

Denver Snuffer sure keeps us bloggers busy.

The last interesting thing to happen was when DS released his ridiculous rendition of The Book of John.

Watcher destroyed it here: https://onewhoiswatching.wordpress.com/2017/03/04/the-record-of-john-the-baptist-deconstructing-the-denver-snuffer-revelation-on-st-john/

I am now going to destroy Denver’s words at his conference.

Currently, on the website, they only have the audio—no transcripts available yet—so I had to drudge through 2+ hr of audio. Denver’s voice is so boring and un-illuminating, I hope you know it took a lot of willpower to listen to it all. It’s almost as boring as General Conference.

I know the majority of my readers believe Denver to be a prophet. You guys have thick skin to keep reading my blog. I don’t mean to alienate you, and I hope you forgive me for speaking evil against your anointed.

The first bomb-shell that Denver drops during his talk is that the “fulness of the scriptures” is available.

http://scriptures.info/Scriptures

This new set of scriptures does some interesting things: it includes the Lectures on Faith (a no-brainer) and it also includes revelations by Denver himself and little bonus things that Joseph said that DS has decided to canonize.

Much like Brigham Young with Section 130, Denver Snuffer has decided to canonize the words of Joseph Smith that he never intended to canonize. Everything that Joseph revealed had to be kept in check by Sidney Rigdon. The Lord knew Joseph would speak presumptuously, which is why he gave him a spokesman, to keep him in line with the Word of God.

Joseph taught many erroneous things.

It’s a bold thing to proclaim yourself to have the same calling that Sidney Rigdon did.

Section 132—the doctrine have plural marriage—was never given to Sidney Rigdon to do his regular check-up. This is why it was never canonized. Had Sidney read it, he would have thrown it into a fire.

Denver has not removed Section 132, but has “revised” it, as Section 54. He removed the uncomfortable bits, but it proves what I’ve said time and time again: Denver believes in polygamy.

In Passing the Heavenly Gift, he wrote that by marrying Fanny Alger, Joseph completed his Abrahamic sacrifice, which gave him the sealing power. This, I of course find ridiculous.

Denver, being so full of wisdom, added something of his own into the Book of Proverbs– which makes no sense at all, since that’s the Old Testament, like seriously WTF

He says, in their scripture edition, Proverbs 10:23 “The eternal union of man and woman is a return to Eden before the Fall. The Temple and the ordinances found there are, for us, the return to Eden before the Fall and the completion of creation through the union of man and woman in an infinite covenant.”

Denver still believes in the Nauvoo temple ordinances! He is going to restore these in his new temple. http://www.thetemplefund.net/

By including his own 132, he proves that he has not changed his mind on this matter. He may play softball and say Joseph was not sleeping with his wives, but he believes Joseph was commanded by God to take multiple wives nonetheless.

[The women he married claimed to have had sex with Joseph. But they were just lying apparently.]

At the end of Snuffer’s address, he says polygamy is adultery. But he only rejects polygamy “of men;” he does not reject polygamy “of God.” Whatever is going on in “your skull”—he says, in regards to polygamy—is wrong, but what God says on the matter is something he is keeping to himself.

He believes polygamy was commanded by God as an Abrahamic sacrifice. He is going to say exactly what Brigham said…. I didn’t want to practice polygamy! It was the last thing on my mind! But the Lord commanded it, and I had to do it!

*

If you take the word of God seriously, you take the calling of Sidney Rigdon seriously.

The Pearl of Great Price was canonized by apostates, not Joseph and Sidney.

Denver Snuffer, if he had the same calling as Sidney Rigdon, would have dissolved the “POGP” and separated the Book of Abraham as a singular book.

But Denver is just as bad as Brigham Young and Orson Hyde. He is canonizing things that were never meant to be canonized. This is just as bad as de-canonizing the Lectures on Faith.

The Wentworth Letter, Joseph Smith History…

Those are not scripture!

Denver’s new scriptures are a MESS.

Section 133 was supposed to be the appendices of the D&C. Denver has it listed as Section 21.

They’ve even included the ridiculous Section 126—to them, Section 167—which Brigham Young obviously made up.

*facepalm

Where was the discernment there? How did this movement not know that Section 126 was a lie of BY? Probably because they don’t have the Spirit of God.

I could go on…

Okay one last one: NO SECTION 110!!!!!!!

One of the most important and valuable revelations… REMOVED… Yike-a-rumba…

Section 110 is a no good, but the revelation on polygamy and the Nauvoo Temple ordinances are okay.

Riiiiiiiight.

At about fifty minutes into Denver’s talk, he says that the Work of the Father has already commenced.

I have blogged about this here: https://themarvelouswork.com/2016/12/07/the-mysteries-of-the-kingdom-pt-4-the-first-trump-and-the-wheat-and-the-tares/

The Marvelous Work and a Wonder must occur FIRST.

The Work of the Father only commences once the first trumpet blows and the tares are burned.

1 Nephi 14:

17 And when the day cometh that the wrath of God is poured out upon the mother of harlots, which is the great and abominable church of all the earth, whose founder is the devil, then, at that day, the work of the Father shall commence, in preparing the way for the fulfilling of his covenants, which he hath made to his people who are of the house of Israel.

Denver Snuffer does not understand the scriptures if he believes the Work of the Father has commenced.

The Marvelous Work must occur first, to gather the wheat (Gentiles) out from the tares. Once the wrath of God/tribulation occurs, THEN the Work of the Father commences in gathering all the dispersed of Israel.

*

In their “Pearls of Great Price”, Denver drops another huge bomb-shell…

On the 10 th day of September, 2011 the word of the Lord said to me, You shall no longer be called Denver, but your name shall be called David.”

!!!!!!!!

Denver has fully established his position as the Davidic servant of the end-times.

Riiiiiight.

I’ll start calling him Dave Snuffer from now on, hahaha.

Will The Real Elijah Please Stand Up

Many nights on my mission, I laid in bed for hours thinking it through. I knew all the verses that pertained to Elias/Elijah, but could never wrap my mind around it.

Years later, I can finally say I have figured out the Elias controversy.

It all comes down to the Book of Malachi and understanding that everything in that book has already transpired!

Same with Daniel.

We are awaiting the fulfillment of prophecies from Isaiah, Ezekiel etc. but modern revelation proves that both Daniel and Malachi are done-deals.

Daniel, for instance, asks, “How long shall it be to the end of these wonders?” (Daniel 12:6) “What shall be the end of these things?” (verse 8)

He is told by the angel that, “it shall be for a time, times, and an half; and when he shall have accomplished to scatter the power of the holy people, all these things shall be finished.” (Daniel 12:7)

The prophecies of Daniel have all come to pass. They came to pass when Satan scattered the power of the holy people! This happened in late 1834, after a 3 and a half year period (time, times, and a half) when the holy people were gathered and held the power of God, the Melchizedek priesthood.

Bringing that up will surely create questions in readers minds, but this post is not about Daniel; I’m just using it as an example. Of course, I’m happy to answer any questions anyone has on it!

But now let’s review Section 110, and what it says about Malachi.

Section 110:

14 Behold, the time has fully come, which was spoken of by the mouth of Malachi…

To me, it is clear that by FULLY COME, the Word is making clear that the prophecy of Malachi has come to complete fruition.

I could write an entire post on the prophecy of Malachi, but I want to focus on Elijah.

Christians believe that John the Baptist is Elijah, and that the Book of Malachi was fulfilled during the ministry of Christ.

This makes no sense.

Elijah is supposed to come before the great and dreadful day of the Lord.

John the Baptist did not come before the great and dreadful day of the Lord when the wicked is turned to stubble; he came to prepare the way of Christ’s first coming.

Elijah precedes Christ’s SECOND coming.

[As a sidenote, one thing that had always bothered me was that Sidney Rigdon, in Section 93, was mandated to preach the acceptable year of the Lord, but in Luke 4:19, it says that Jesus fulfilled that Isaiah scripture….

What I never realized was that Jesus did not fulfill the scripture in its entirety… He only read the first couple verses of the prophecy, not the whole thing. He didn’t, “proclaim the acceptable year of the Lord, and the day of vengeance of our God,” he only proclaimed the acceptable year. Sidney Rigdon would fulfill that scripture during the acceptable year that precedes the vengeance of God!]

The JST makes it even more clear, but I want to simply refer to the KJV to prove the point that John the Baptist was not fulfilling Malachi.

The disciples asked Christ, “Why then say the scribes that Elias must first come?” (Mathew 17:10)

Christ’s responds, “Elias truly SHALL first come, and restore all things.” (verse 11)

He also says, “that Elias is come already.” (verse 12)

So Elias/John the Baptist has already come, but Jesus says he SHALL come and restore all things.

Clearly, Jesus is saying that John the Baptist is Elijah, but he has not completed his mission.

Elijah is supposed to turn the hearts of the children to the fathers, and the hearts of the fathers to the children.

Section 98 has rendered:

children – Jews

fathers – Prophets

Did John the Baptist do these things?

Luke 1:17 says that John the Baptist, “shall go before him [Christ] in the spirit and power of Elias, to turn the hearts of the fathers to the children.”

Nothing is said about turning the hearts of the children to the fathers!

That’s because John the Baptist was unsuccessful in turning the Jews to the Prophets!

Jesus says the Jews, “knew him not.” (Mathew 17:12)

John the Baptist/Elijah would reach the Jews before the great and dreadful day of the Lord.

Like I’ve said in my last post, and in many other posts, the LDS church is gathering the Jews. The LDS church, because of the keys Elijah gave, is turning the hearts of the children/Jews to the fathers/Prophets, before the great and dreadful day of the Lord.

The interesting thing is that John the Baptist/Elijah was ordained to overthrow the Kingdom of the Jews. (D&C 84:28) I do not think John the Baptist did this during Christ’s time; I think that prophecy is referring to the LDS church. John the Baptist is going to overthrow the Kingdom of the Jews!

Won’t that be cool?

John the Baptist must do that to restore all things.

Remember, him restoring things has nothing to do with Malachi. Malachi makes no mention of any restoration.

It is only in the gospels that we are told Elias is to restore anything.

Malachi is fulfilled, but John the Baptist/Elijah isn’t done yet!

Let’s read Section 27:

6 And also with Elias, to whom I have committed the keys of bringing to pass the restoration of all things spoken by the mouth of all the holy prophets since the world began, concerning the last days;

7 And also John the son of Zacharias, which Zacharias he (Elias) visited and gave promise that he should have a son, and his name should be John, and he should be filled with the spirit of Elias;

8 Which John I have sent unto you, my servants, Joseph Smith, Jun., and Oliver Cowdery, to ordain you unto the first priesthood which you have received, that you might be called and ordained even as Aaron;

9 And also Elijah, unto whom I have committed the keys of the power of turning the hearts of the fathers to the children, and the hearts of the children to the fathers, that the whole earth may not be smitten with a curse;

10 And also with Joseph and Jacob, and Isaac, and Abraham, your fathers, by whom the promises remain;

11 And also with Michael, or Adam, the father of all, the prince of all, the ancient of days;

I made “with” bold, because I want you to notice that the text is cryptically telling us that Elias is John and John is Elijah!

There is no differentiation of those three in Section 27. They are the same.

Elijah/Elias/John the Baptist has the keys to bring to pass the restoration of all things!

John the Baptist fulfilled Malachi in Section 110, and is ALSO going to restore all things as Christ said he would.

John the Baptist will overthrow the LDS church.

Many believe that Joseph Smith is Elias the restorer, but I do not believe this to be the case.

I believe John 1 speaks of three people:

  1. The Christ
  2. Elias
  3. that prophet

I believe Joseph Smith is “that prophet”.

Joseph Smith will redeem Zion and gather the tribes of Israel, but only once Elias (John the Baptist/Elijah) overthrows the Kingdom of the Jews to restore the Kingdom to Israel.

Jesus ministered to the Jews, but after his ministry, the gospel went to the Gentiles.

Joseph ministered to the Gentiles, but after his ministry, the gospel went to the Jews.

When Elias overthrows the Jews, he will be restoring the Kingdom to Israel again.

He will be restoring the authority back to Joseph Smith.

Why Mormons Don’t Talk About Jesus

As an active-going LDS attendee, I can say with utmost assurance that what I’m saying is truth: Mormons don’t believe in Jesus. At least, not as Christians do.

Jesus Christ has been removed as the main character.

Heavenly Father” took the center role.

Why is this?

Because Mormons are Jews who have only “begun” to believe in Christ, while God remains their central focus of worship.

I’m actually not criticizing the LDS church for not focusing on Christ; I think it’s great they believe in him at all.

Things in the LDS church weren’t always like this.

The change occurred in 1836 when the LDS church began gathering Jews instead of Gentiles.

Joseph Smith gets a lot of flack for changing around his first vision. Compare his 1832 account to his 1838 account and you get a whole new creature.

Originally, the Lord appeared to Joseph and forgave him his sins. Sounds like Christianity, doesn’t it? If only things had remained that simple.

In 1838, Joseph gets visited by both the Father and the Son, and the Father—the personage who addressed him—does all the talking. He goes on to say that all Christian creeds are an abomination, and that all preachers are corrupt.

The 1838-Joseph Smith set the stage for a Jewish cult to formulate into existence.

I’ve said time and time again, the LDS church is not actually a church, but a kingdom. It is the Kingdom of the Jews. It does not provide the saving ordinances that the Church of Christ offers; it does not even teach the gospel. The LDS church is one helluva mess.

But those in the church are in good shape.

They have “begun” to believe in Christ, which is better than not believing in him at all.

The 1838 Book of Mormon had numerous changes made to it. Many passages that name Christ as the Eternal Father were changed to Christ being the “Son” of the Eternal Father.

This is all part of God’s glorious plan. Those in the LDS church would not have joined the Mormon church had it been Christ-focused. The LDS church had to appeal to the unbelieving Jews.

Mormon 5:

12 Now these things are written unto the remnant of the house of Jacob; and they are written after this manner, because it is known of God that wickedness will not bring them forth unto them; and they are to be hid up unto the Lord that they may come forth in his own due time.

13 And this is the commandment which I have received; and behold, they shall come forth according to the commandment of the Lord, when he shall see fit, in his wisdom.

14 And behold, they shall go unto the unbelieving of the Jews; and for this intent shall they go—that they may be persuaded that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of the living God; that the Father may bring about, through his most Beloved, his great and eternal purpose, in restoring the Jews, or all the house of Israel, to the land of their inheritance, which the Lord their God hath given them, unto the fulfilling of his covenant;

This is why the Book of Mormon changed its tune after 1836. It was simply providing a platform for unbelieving Jews to believe in Christ. It was not their scheduled time to come to a knowledge that Jesus is God.

2nd Nephi 26:

12 And as I spake concerning the convincing of the Jews, that Jesus is the very Christ, it must needs be that the Gentiles be convinced also that Jesus is the Christ, the Eternal God;

When the church was gathering Gentiles, the Book of Mormon and Joseph Smith taught perfectly clear that Christ was God. That’s why Joseph’s 1832 account had only one personage addressing him.

One last scripture….

2nd Nephi 30:

7 And it shall come to pass that the Jews which are scattered also shall begin to believe in Christ; and they shall begin to gather in upon the face of the land; and as many as shall believe in Christ shall also become a delightsome people.

8 And it shall come to pass that the Lord God shall commence his work among all nations, kindreds, tongues, and people, to bring about the restoration of his people upon the earth.

The Jews BEGIN to believe in Christ, and GATHER to America…

Then it comes to pass that the Lord God will commence his work among all nations!!!!!!

That is the Marvelous Work.

Those in the LDS church will be the first ones to hear of this work. Those that are willing to graduate from their LDS way of thought will be able to embrace the fulness of the gospel, finally.
