Contention: “Here we see clearly that the apostasy being referred to [in Section 86] was a future apostasy not a past one. Verse 3 states after they have fallen asleep, not after they had fallen asleep.”

Response: I did not claim that the revelation referred to the initial apostasy after the first watch. I have spoken and written extensively on this subject, that the wheat and tares grow together until the harvest is fully ripe. This is clear instruction to Sidney and Joseph, providing them context as they gleaned insights during their translation of the Bible, where it surely became more and more obvious that their church would fall into apostasy. This is why they received Section 86. God implored them to continue their efforts regardless of the truth that an apostasy would occur after the second watch. They are told to, “let the wheat and tares grow together.”

Again, the revelation supports my belief that Sidney is John the Beloved—that the original apostles were the sowers of the seed, and not all of them have fallen asleep. John the Beloved was yet to fall asleep, which is why the word “have” is used and not “had.”

Contention: “In D&C 86 the Lord is speaking to future Israelites with whom the priesthood has continued since the restoration of the gospel in the 1830s. Their life and priesthood must remain until the restoration of all things. In the meantime they are to be a light to the gentiles and a savior to the Lord’s people Israel.”

Response: How can these future readers of D&C 86 be a savior in the meantime when they do not possess the priesthood necessary to save? None of us can provide the saving ordinances.

Contention: “It is these individuals who are referred to. It is not some mystic allusion to some secret hidden identity of Joseph Smith and Sidney Rigdon.”

Response: Perhaps it’s not. But with certainty I can refute the revelation is not targeted to us. It’s either directly to Joseph and Sidney or the original members of the Church of Christ. “Blessed are ye if ye continue in my goodness […] and through this priesthood, a savior unto my people.” The church did not continue in goodness; they departed from the Lord and lost the fulness of the priesthood, and eventually their baptisms were no longer accepted.

Contention: “Are the only weak ones who will break down the strong ones the weak saints from the 1830s and 1840s who failed to redeem Zion at that time? Do they all have to come back to earth and finish the work that was started back in the 1830s in some mystical return from the dead, which has never before happened in the scriptures?”

Response: Yes, the first labourers of the last kingdom will. They go forth, “for the last time.” (D&C 88:84) They didn’t go forth after the Kirtland Temple, because God is saving them for the marvelous work.

Contention: “The Lord knew exactly what would and would not be achieved in the 1830s and 1840s.”

Response: He did, and that’s why the revelations and prophecies indicate they must return to the earth or the word of the Lord is null and void and should not be trusted.

Contention: “Just because the Lord has promised us something individually, this does not mean that it will come to pass. All promised blessing are contingent upon us doing the Lord’s will. If we do not do what He says, He is not bound, and we have no promise. The same principle applies to the individuals given promises by the Lord in the D&C.”

Response: This paradigm suggests that Joseph Smith did not do the Lord’s will. The prophecy of 2nd Nephi 3 which outlines the role of Joseph Smith was not contingent upon anything. It will either come to pass or the Book of Mormon is a lie. The author has an issue with “unconditional” promises because apparently things can go any which way depending on man. God said of Joseph: “I will make him great in mine eyes; for he shall do my work.” He didn’t say, “And if he does my will, I will make him great; and if everybody listens to him, he will do my work.”

“That seer will the Lord bless; and they that seek to destroy him shall be confounded; for this promise, which I have obtained of the Lord, of the fruit of my loins, shall be fulfilled. Behold, I am sure of the fulfilling of this promise.” (2 Nephi 3:14)

Why can’t we have the same kind of faith that Joseph of Egypt had when God proclaimed truth?Because those seeking to destroy Joseph Smith were not confounded, this either means the Book of Mormon is a fraud or it has not yet come to pass. I believe in the Word and know that this prophecy will come to pass exactly as stated. When God’s work commences (2 Nephi 3:13), Joseph will be made strong and none will destroy him. They will not even hurt him. (3 Nephi 21:10) The Lord has spoken it.

God doesn’t make these promises because of how he thinks things will go…he knows the future; and in this case, knew that Joseph Smith would fulfill his will, which is why he provides unconditional commentary on prophetic events wherein he knows the final result.

Contention: “We must also remember that prior to the millennium, or right at the beginning of it, the righteous saints who have gone before shall descend upon the earth and the righteous saints living on the earth shall be rushed up to meet them. Surely the righteous saints from the early days of the restoration will be there and participate as prophesied. It must also be remembered that there will be a great many angels who will participate in the gathering of the elect to Zion. Surely righteous saints from the church in all ages, including the 1830s and 1840s, will be among these angels.”

Response: The gathering of elect occurs before the first trump. And the gathering is to be done by Joseph Smith who is to deliver (2 Nephi 3:9) and restore Israel (2 Nephi 3:13) alongside the first elders. If they have to wait until the first resurrection to do so, the scriptures have contradicted themselves.

Contention: “Seeing how there is no scriptural pattern for such a claim, this does not appear to be a plausible conclusion.”

Response: There is no other plausible conclusion. The marvelous work is regarded as a “strange act” (D&C 101:95) so why would there be a scriptural pattern for it? How else could it be strange?

Contention: “The Lord stated to Joseph Smith, “I will raise up unto my people a man, who shall lead them like as Moses led the children of Israel. For ye are the children of Israel, and of the seed of Abraham, and ye must needs be led out of bondage by power, and with a stretched-out arm.” […] Sounds like a future servant of the Lord to me.”

Response: Sounds like Joseph Smith to me, for God said of Joseph: “He shall be great like unto Moses […] to deliver my people, O house of Israel.” (2 Nephi 3:11) It is erroneous to suggest that D&C 101 was speaking to Joseph Smith; it was clearly to the Saints, the children of Israel. They were told that the redemption of Zion needed to come by power, a reference to Joseph Smith when he goes forth in the spirit of power to bring Israel out of captivity unto freedom. (2 Nephi 3:5)

I doubt Watchman is ignorant of 2nd Nephi 3; I suspect he believes it not to be prophecy of Joseph Smith but of another Joseph…for either Joseph returns to the earth or the prophecy is speaking of someone else. I implore the reader to decide on this matter.

Contention: “It is clear that there is absolutely no reason to declare that “John the Baptist was Elijah brought back into the flesh” or that he “was not going through a mortal probation to choose good over evil; he had already proven himself to God as Elijah!” This is total speculation and goes against the scriptures and teachings of the prophet Joseph Smith.”

Response: It is speculation on my part—but I’d love to see what scriptures I’m contradicting. Haven’t found them in my many years of intensive study, making it my mission to demolish all false doctrine in and out of the LDS church, constantly readjusting my positions once I’ve been proven wrong. How can we not speculate when the the scriptures have provided so many cryptic and mysterious passages? As we continue searching, we reevaluate and come to a greater understanding. I’m not afraid to speculate because God intentionally gave us a program that requires it.

Contention: “Joseph said that he saw Jesus Christ and God the Father in a vision in 1820. He never said that he was in their presence or that either of them were actually physically present.”

Response: I agree this is more likely.

Contention: “Paul is not in any way referring directly to Joseph and Sidney in 1 Corinthians. He is talking about the saints in his day and the saints and servants of God in all ages.”

Response: When you have a theory and encounter passages such as this, the scriptures can reveal a new meaning. I included 1 Corinthians 1:27 to showcase this. I don’t claim it to be evidence of supporting my theory but just as an indication that the scriptures can have a deeper subtext. Is this one of them? Maybe, maybe not.

Contention: “This is correct only if what is meant by Jews is the House of Israel as a whole, primarily the tribe of Ephraim, and not specifically the tribe of Judah. If the tribe of Judah is specifically being referred to, then this is not correct.”

Response: Why is the tribe of Judah excluded? When the gospel is sent to the Jews it doesn’t include Judah? Why?

Contention: “Descendants of Joseph are not gentiles. The priesthood line and birthright is through the line of the father and not the mother. Not that it matters in this case, as Joseph in Egypt did not marry a gentile woman. He married into the royal Egyptian family, who were ruling Egypt at that particular time. During that time Egypt was briefly ruled by a people called the Hyksos, who had driven out the black Egyptian rulers. The Hyksos were from Chaldea, the same place Abraham and Sarah were from. It is also the place were Isaac’s wife Rebekah was from, as well as Jacob’s wives Leah and Rachel. This is why Joseph could marry Asenath. Had she been a black Canaanite, this would have been forbidden, just as Isaac and Jacob had been forbidden to take wives from among the black Canaanites.”

Response: Firstly, I agree that priesthood is handed down by the father, but this doesn’t change the fact that the bloodline can be intermixed. The fulness of the gospel is given to the Gentiles and yet The Book of Commandments identifies the Gentiles as being of the blood of Ephraim. (D&C 64:36) So the descendants of Joseph must clearly be Gentiles either through Asenath or by mixing among the people. (Hosea 7:8)

Contention: “Joseph Smith as the lamb is a very strange interpretation of Leviticus 16 since a lamb is not mentioned. Rather it is a ram. But Joseph never said that he was going as a “ram” to the slaughter, so I guess it’s easier for G.azelem to change ram to lamb and hope nobody notices. Or perhaps he didn’t notice this himself.”

Response: The author does not know what a ram is.

Contention: “Just like with his 1st watch interpretation, G.azelem doesn’t provide an interpretation for the other metaphors such as Moses, Aaron, the Holy Place, linen garments, wilderness, etc.”

Response: I could provide an interpretation.

Contention: “I see absolutely zero parallel between Judas and Hyrum Smith. Perhaps between Judas and William Law as they were both traitors, but G.azelem can’t use William Law, because William Law wasn’t slain. Hyrum was not in any way responsible for Joseph’s death, nor was Judas slain beside Jesus as Hyrum was to Joseph.”

Response: William Law wasn’t a traitor; he was attempting to reform the church as needed. Hyrum actually was responsible for Joseph’s death because it was his idea to give themselves up and go to prison even though Joseph informed him that if they did so, they would die. It probably is too far of a stretch to make this comparison, but my actual point was to reinforce that the atonement offering of Joseph Smith was contingent upon 3rd Nephi 20-21 and not Leviticus 16, because it’s still possible to provide an interpretation that fulfills the scapegoat offering before the time of Joseph Smith.

Contention: “On the other hand, if Joseph was offering up such a sacrifice at his death it is strange that the Lord didn’t at least hint at this when he revealed to Brigham Young the reason why Joseph had to die.”

Response: Brigham Young was not a prophet.

Contention: “He [Sidney Rigdon] did not remain with the saints as the Lord commanded, he pridefully took off.”

Response: He refused to bow down to false prophets.

Contention: “Where does it state in the scriptures that people must rend the veil and see God before they are sanctified?”

Response: Of course you can’t see God before sanctification. I didn’t say this. Rending the veil of unbelief is the expression of faith needed for sanctification. And you can’t see God unless you are sanctified.

Contention: “Does being born of God mean that a person no longer sins at all? I’m not aware of this doctrine. All men sin, even the most righteous.”

Response: Not according to 1 John 3:9. All men will sin, but it is possible to stop once you have been born of God.

Contention: “Daniel did prophecy that the daily sacrifice would be taken away, but he did not say that this daily sacrifice was that of a broken heart and a contrite spirit. […] I’m curious where G.azelem gets the idea that the daily sacrifice referred to by Daniel has been take away already.”

Response: I’m curious what the Watchman thinks the daily sacrifice refers to, since he hasn’t offered a better interpretation.

Contention: “How [can he] claim that even in a time of apostasy, were the ordinances are not found on the earth, that we are still accountable for not rending the veil, after declaring that one must have the Melchizedek priesthood in order to rend the veil and see God earlier in his article? Furthermore, how does G.azelem expect us to rend the veil if the ability to offer a broken heart and a contrite spirit has been taken from us as he claims?”

Response: When we rend the veil of unbelief, then come the great and marvelous things. The great and marvelous things involve us offering a broken heart and contrite spirit within the law of consecration which is necessary in receiving the Melchizedek priesthood for a baptism of fire.

Contention: “He suffered for every sin. He felt every pain. He felt every temptation. He took our sins upon Himself, when He was slain for the sins of the world in the meridian of time. To suggest that that He still needed to experience what it was like to commit iniquity 1800 years later, is to suggest that the atonement was not fully complete when Christ was slain. This is again blasphemy.”

Response: He felt every temptation, but he did not feel the guilt of having committed sin. I understand why this can be deemed as blasphemous, but am only being open and sincere. I’m not gonna win anybody over in stating such a radical concept. I wish only to be transparent with the ramifications of what I’m suggesting.

Contention: “The “deep” in D&C 122:7 refers to the possibility of Joseph being killed by his enemies casting him into the sea, not that Joseph was going to be cast into hell.”

Response: The sea [deep] is used in scripture to be an analogy for hell. (Rev 13:1) Joseph was also informed that he could be cast into the pit, as well as having the very jaws of hell gape after him. (Section 122)

Contention: “This is all speculation and ultimately a false conclusion. We do not know that Sidney raises the ensign and therefore we do not know that he is the Root of Jesse. Sidney failed to live up to his calling in the end.”

Response: I may be wrong that Sidney is the Root of Jesse, but I believe the author is definitely wrong in judging Sidney to have not lived up to his calling.

Contention: “Here we go again with the “previous mortal probation” false doctrine. The scriptures do not anywhere state that Sidney Rigdon already held the keys of the gathering of Israel prior to joining the church, or that he held any keys prior to joining the church for that matter. G.azelem is pulling this out of thin air. The keys to the gathering of Israel were given in the Kirtland temple in 1836 (D&C 110) and not before. Those keys were given to Joseph and Oliver and not Sidney.”

Response: And yet previous to 1836 the church had authority to all nations; the keys to save Israel had already been given. (D&C 35:25)

Contention: “Actually D&C 110 says that Moses, Elias, and Elijah visited Joseph and Oliver and bestowed keys upon them. John the Baptist is not mentioned and Elias and Elijah are shown to be separate individuals.”

Response: Author ignores all evidence given by me to suggest otherwise.

Contention: “G.azelem is correct that the dispensation of the gospel of Abraham is not a downgrade. He clearly doesn’t understand what the dispensation of the gospel of Abraham really means, but by acknowledging that it is not a downgrade he is one step ahead of the other third watch bloggers in this regard.”

Response: Then let’s hear what the dispensation of the gospel of Abraham is! I’d love to hear another perspective. I don’t imagine it’s any different than what I think, but I’m all ears.

Contention: “Sidney held the keys by virtue of being one of Joseph’s councilors in the first presidency, who collectively held the keys of the kingdom with the president of the church, Joseph Smith. Clearly Joseph bestowed those keys upon Sidney and Frederick G. Williams when they were set apart as his councilors. There is zero indication that Sidney held these keys previously.”

Response: So Joseph Smith held the keys of the kingdom without the keys given in 1836? Either the keys of 1836 represent a downgrade or the church held them previously because of someone in the first presidency was already given them. Rather than providing a decent argument as to why the keys of 1836 don’t constitute the keys of the kingdom, I’m attacked for providing a theory that actually makes sense of the author’s suppositions. The “kingdom” was only given to the Saints once Sidney aligned with the church. Was this a mere coincidence? I feel like Watchman should do a post on priesthood keys so I can understand where he’s coming from.

Contention: “G.azelem is forgetting two men. Robert B. Thompson and John C. Bennett were also called to help with this proclamation.

He’s also forgetting that the Lord told Joseph to make this proclamation to the kings of the earth immediately, not four generations later.

Well, I guess we’ll have to wait and see if Sidney Rigdon, who left Nauvoo against the Lord’s command; John C. Bennett ,who was an adulterer who preyed on naïve women and wanted to murder the Lord’s prophet; and William Law who betrayed Joseph, started his own church, and later denounced the restored gospel as a fraud, will all come back and make this proclamation together with Robert Thompson acting as scribe.

If these guys will all be given a free pass for their sins, then I guess we’ll all be saved in the kingdom of heaven in the end, after perhaps being beaten by a few stripes. We might as well eat, drink, and be merry.”

Response: I wasn’t forgetting anything. The only person forgetting anything was apparently Joseph for not bothering to make the proclamation immediately. I’ve provided the author—in an email—an explanation as to why John C. Bennett will not be making the proclamation, that his assignment was conditional and not unconditional, but this makes no difference because LDS Watchman doesn’t believe there is a distinction between a conditional or unconditonal statement.

Contention: “As for the Morley farm conference. The Melchizedek priesthood was restored before that. It was restored in 1829. There were already Elders before the church was organized. Elder is an office of the Melchizedek priesthood. The Joseph Smith quote about Morley farm doesn’t say what G.azelem thinks it does.”

Response: I’ve explained this apparent discrepancy before. The office of elder is unto the high priesthood, not an office of the high priesthood.

Contention: “This is the timeline put together by Watcher, but the problem is that the Melchizedek priesthood was on earth and with the church in 1829, so the three and a half years would have ended in 1832 not 1834 as Watcher claims, and G.azelem echoes here.”

Response: The author still believes the Melchizedek priesthood was restored previous to the establishment of the church, a deluded narrative that falls to pieces and leads Mormons to reject the truth claims of the restoration movement because it is not supported and is evidence of historical revisionism.

Contention: “The third watch bloggers like to take shots at the endowment, but I have yet to find a convincing argument from them as to why they believe the endowment is from Satan and a secret combination.”

Response: I guess Moses 5:29 doesn’t ring any bells for Watchman.

Although the main point of Watchman was to disprove my theory that individuals can die and be born again at a later time, the real issue at hand was the author’s reluctance to believe that the prophecies of Joseph Smith will fully come to pass as stated in scripture.

He has surmised: “Apparently in the eyes of the third watch bloggers God is a respecter of persons and certain individuals will receive a free pass for their sins and transgressions and be allowed to return to earth to fulfil whatever mission they were called to, which they may not have lived worthy of during their lives.”

Of course, we do not believe this, and the author is seemingly comfortable in this misalignment of our beliefs and convictions. He doesn’t think very highly of us if he thinks we’ve strayed that far from the most basic of truths. Certain individuals aren’t given a free pass. God knows who will overcome and who won’t, and this knowledge is the knowledge we go off of.

Joseph Smith and Sidney Rigdon will return to the earth along with the first elders. I verily know this to be true. The only thing Watchman can do is present me as having a false religious worldview where people get a free pass.

My religious worldview is a belief in God who knows the end from the beginning; and everything God says will come to pass because God has already seen it transpire. God knew that his anointed servants would accomplish his will, and that is why he prophesied of them doing things they haven’t yet done. He would not have declared them to fulfill more than they had if he knew they would fail during the first commission. He declared them to go forth for the last time (a second commission) and they will! This is very clear to me. While I sway on other issues, I do not doubt the reality of the return of the first labourers of the last kingdom.

Notice in all five posts that there was no scriptures provided to prove that spirits can never re-enter their mortality through being born again in the womb…and thus he has unwittingly given my theory even more support. It can’t be proven false with a simple swoop.

It is commonly accepted within Mormondom that God was once a mortal man who had a god above him. This can be proven false instantly. (Isaiah 43:10-11) The scriptures can destroy false doctrine with a single scripture. That’s the power they have.

I no longer intend to explore on this blog—or elsewhere—on the subject of spirits returning to the earth and entering the womb once again to continue their ministry. I’ve compiled a vast collection of scriptures that may prove its legitimacy, but this has become irrelevant to me in respect to the current state of things. This is the time in which the watchmen do not yet see eye-to-eye. This only occurs once the Lord brings again Zion. (Isa 52:8)

I’m reminded of Alma who mused on the timeline of resurrections and yet determined: “It mattereth not; for God knoweth all these things.” (Alma 40:5)

The elders of the church who would learn the mysteries of God—most notably in Sections 76, 88, and 93—were told, “preach naught but repentance, and show not these things unto the world until it is wisdom in me.” (D&C 19:21)

Although this verse is not subject to me—for no one on earth (as far as I am aware) has been called to the ministry to preach—I feel inspired to try and follow the mandate of this verse for the time being.

The last month I have been delving into the deepest of mysteries. My findings have been incredible and have deepened my understanding of the plan of salvation on an entirely new level. I have been blessed with many insights and revelations of pure intelligence (light and truth) which is the glory of God. (D&C 93:36) This has improved my sense of discernment.

I am now embarking on compiling a list of every commandment that has proceeded forth from the mouth of God.

If we by the grace of God are called to preach repentance unto the world; or by the grace of God are ministered unto by true priesthood messengers with the call to repent—I sense we should get a head-start and know what things we need to repent of, and begin to do so immediately with deeper sorrow and humility. I suspect that I will come across commandments and prophetic words to heed that are not yet fully apparent to me.

I thank LDS Watchman for taking my post seriously and measuring it up against his understanding of the scriptures

As I have quoted numerously before, I repeat once more:

“They have all gone astray save it be a few, who are the humble followers of Christ; nevertheless, they are led, that in many instances they do err because they are taught by the precepts of men.” (2 Ne 28:14)

Until we are sanctified, we are all subject to err. I wouldn’t doubt that both Watchman and I are counted among this group Nephi speaks of. We are slowly un-learning the traditions of our fathers, and this process takes time. Yet each of us have the pure intent of seeking God, and for this we are told:

“But if from thence thou shalt seek the Lord thy God, thou shalt find him, if thou seek him with all thy heart and with all thy soul. When thou art in tribulation, and all these things are come upon thee, even in the latter days, if thou turn to the Lord thy God, and shalt be obedient unto his voice; (For the Lord thy God is a merciful God;) he will not forsake thee, neither destroy thee, nor forget the covenant of thy fathers which he sware unto them.” (Deut 4:29-31)

Seek, and ye shall find.

The seekers and watchers have the same goal—to please God. For now I hope to rest from debating the word and focus on how we can instead begin to live the word more fully.

Let us allow our knowledge of the scriptures to empower us in ways we haven’t yet experienced. The best is yet to come for the humble followers of Christ.

Due to my recent musings on the possibility that individuals other than Elijah have returned back to the flesh, I have been cornered into defending the position emphatically.

For years now, the idea of multiple probations was a doctrine I chose to steer clear from, not wanting it to overshadow the things I find of greater importance in my personal search for truth. Nevertheless I have recently found numerous pieces of scriptural evidence to support such a view.

He is now beginning a series of posts in direct response to me. I will respond to the author with a post containing a deeper analysis of scriptural implications when his series is complete. I mention it now because this post will delve briefly into it without providing a lengthy argument for its defense.

I will contain myself to the first three chapters of The Book of Revelation.

The first time I ever considered that spirits return back to the earth for a subsequent mortal probation was after I adopted an approach of “Biblical literalism” and then re-encountered the passage: “Behold, he cometh with clouds; and every eye shall see him, and they also which pierced him.” (1:7)

This implies that those who were personally responsible for the death of Christ would be standing on the earth during the second coming of Christ. My current understanding of the resurrection timeline does not allow for the Jews to be resurrected previous to or during the initial first resurrection.

The only other explanation I can think of is to suggest that the descendants of those who crucified Christ are guilty of the sins of their fathers, and that generational curses do in fact pass down if the children do not seek God with all their heart and soul and become obedient. (Deut 4:29-30)

Either interpretation advances a mystical realm of thinking which can enable us to glimpse into the complex nature of the spiritual world and its effect on us.

I don’t mean to give credence unto worldly learning…but I do find it of great interest that the scientific community in their research into epigenetics has determined the high likelihood that the experiences of our ancestors are carried down and our genes respond accordingly.

Many seem to deal with specific mental challenges and yet their lives provide no logical explanation for why they experience those personal ordeals. I find it compelling to conclude that the burdens—or judgments of God—given unto previous generations are imprinted in the way our DNA will choose to express itself.

Many remark that our history in the pre-earth life can explain our abnormal behavior that does not conform to our first-hand mortal experiences, but this is not congruent to the scriptural truth (Moses 7:32) that we did not have agency and the ability to be in a state of action to gain experience until we entered mortality here on earth.

I will not try and convince anyone to accept a doctrine that is not clearly expounded upon by prophets in direct detail. It is simply hoped of me that others may too begin to recognize that unknowable variables are seemingly at play and these influence us greatly as we see the world through a glass darkly.

When the work of the Father commences, the Book of Ether informs us that all of John’s revelations will be, “unfolded in the eyes of all the people.” (Ether 4:16)

The term “unfold” is used in the Book of Mormon multiple times to describe the revealment of a mystery of God by a prophet. (Jacob 4:18; Mosiah 2:9; Mosiah 8:19; Alma 40:3)

The Book of Revelation will be unfolded by a true prophet. But if so—what good is having the prophecy if we have to wait until the marvelous work is fulfilled and the work of the Father commences?

I believe a small group of elect will in fact have it unfolded to their understanding previous to the marvelous work and a wonder.

Another verse in the Book of Mormon uses the same phrase to expound on a different possibility: “For he that diligently seeketh shall find; and the mysteries of God shall be unfolded unto them, by the power of the Holy Ghost.” (1 Nephi 10:19)

Those that diligently seek will have the mysteries explained by the power of the Holy Ghost.

It is stated by John: “Blessed are they who read, and they who hear and understand the word of this prophecy.” (JST Rev 1:3)

This verse indicates that it is possible to understand John’s revelation by reading the words of the prophecy as it stands; achievable, of course, only through the accompaniment of the power of the Holy Ghost. Whether we have the full extent of that power is debatable, but my lack of surety in this matter does not deter me from diligently seeking to understand the mysteries nonetheless.

Jesus Christ proclaimed, “Blessed is he that keepeth the sayings of the prophecy of this book.” (Rev 22:7) So regardless to whether or not we are capable of fully comprehending the Book of Revelation during the time being, we are to still be intimately familiar with its passages and prophetic sayings, for we will be blessed for so doing. An awareness of it will ensure our capacity to recognize the fulfillment of it coming to pass before us.

I have endeavoured to identify the latter-day fulfillment of the seven churches John wrote to in the second and third chapter of his prophecy. In doing so, I feel confident that it has been not been an exercise in futility. I have always suspected that the message to each of the seven churches in Asia were shadows and representations of seven future groups of believers in the last days, beginning with the arrival of the Book of Mormon onward to the millennium.

The seven groups have arisen chronologically according to the order they appear in John’s prophecy.

Ephesus- The 1830-Church of Christ/Ephraim

Smyrna- The 1836-Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints/Judah

Pergamos- The rejected 1841-church/The House of Israel

Thyatira- The [future] Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints/Wheat of the House of Israel

Sardis- Watchers/Friends of the Bridegroom

Philadelphia- The Church of the Firstborn/The Bride of the New Jerusalem

Laodiceans- The Remnant/The Jews of the Old Jerusalem

I will now provide the list of traits given by God for each church and expound why I feel these characteristics have accurately described the tribal group I’ve classified the church as representing.

[Editorial Note: To keep the flow of this paper I will not use references or quotations to Revelation 2-3 but hope the reader will read those chapters alongside this study. An extremely extensive amount of material will be covered as quickly as possible with little or no explanation in this post.]

 

Ephesus – The 1830-Church of Christ/Ephraim

-Cannot bear those that are evil, has labored for the name of Christ, but does not have faith

The early saints of the LDS church were indeed a righteous people. They could not bear to be surrounded by the evil wickedness of Babylon, which led them to separate themselves and gather out to Zion to labor for the name of Christ upon hearing of the Book of Mormon. However, these Gentiles would fail to truly believe in the words of the Book of Mormon, preventing them from receiving the greater things promised unto true believers in God’s revealed word. (3 Nephi 26:9-10) The Ephramite Gentiles are not listed as possessing faith because they did not have the faith to fully repent and become clean before the Lord. [The few early Saints who did become sanctified are not being addressed to in John’s message.]

-Has the candlestick so long as they repent and return back to the first works by remembering where they first became fallen

The Gentiles became fallen a few short years after the establishment of the church by rejecting the law of the gospel and failing to live consecration as required by the fulness of the gospel.

The candlestick is referred to in Rev 1:20 as the churches themselves but in the message to Ephesus it is related to a man being moved out of his place. This is not Joseph Smith because he is one of the seven lamps connected to the candlestick. (Zech 4:2) The “seven lamps [which] are the seven servants of God” (JST Rev 4:5) are also referred to as the seven shepherds (Micah 5:5) and these seven are the elders to whom Section 29 and 84 have addressed and commissioned. Regardless of the Gentiles failure or success in reforming after rejecting the fulness of the gospel, Joseph would fall from his position to perform the atonement necessary in behalf of them for having rejected the fulness in the first place. If the Gentiles had hearkened to William Law’s warnings in the Nauvoo Expositor for the church to return back to its former works, the candlestick of Sidney Rigdon (the Elias-restorer of the third watch) would still have had his place and standing among the Gentiles in the second watch, for he is the light and standard to whom the Gentiles should seek after. (D&C 45:9) Although Sidney would be cast out by Israel’s fit man as the scapegoat of Leviticus 16, he could have organized the Gentiles into a legitimate Church of Christ—but due to the iniquity of the Gentiles, the eyes of Sidney Rigdon were covered and all his subsequent efforts made for the gospel were misdirected, all of which went by virtually unnoticed by the many Gentile-Mormon factions that inevitably popped up in response to their rejection of the leadership of the fit man, Brigham Young.

Although a potential Church of Christ could have been organized with humble followers of Christ, it would not have graduated to living the fulness of the gospel until the third watch. The Church of Christ would still have been a great blessing, for Rigdon would have been able to confound the many false doctrines that have arisen throughout all restoration movements. He would not have brought forth revelation, but he would have prevented false revelation. Before being cast out by the “saints”, Rigdon proposed himself as a guardian to the church. This is an accurate description for the role Sidney could have played to the Gentiles.

-Hates the deeds of the Nicolaitans and has tried those who say they are apostles, finds them liars

D&C 117:11 explains that the Nicolaitans are connected to a tradition of secret abominations. The Gentiles of the Ephesus church are those that do not embrace the secret rituals and practices that came among them before becoming fully embedded as they came to be in the churches of Smyrna and Pergamos. These saints were those who did not accept the leadership of the Twelve traveling council who claimed to be apostles while being steeped in dark practices which are hated of them. Although these Gentiles failed to return to their first works, they understood and recognized that the restored church was no longer led by the Spirit of God and that those professing to have authority within it were liars.

-If they overcome they will eat of the tree of life

D&C 101:3 refers to the early Gentile saints as God’s jewels. This connects us to the prophecy of Malachi which came to fruition in its entirety by 1836. (D&C 110:14) Malachi speaks of a book of remembrance containing those servants who are the jewels. D&C 86 tells us that those who did live the law of consecration and are found written in the book will find an inheritance among the Saints once Zion is successfully established. In other words, those of this church who did overcome and fulfill their obligations to the Lord will be among the celestial souls who will belong to the New Jerusalem.

 

Smyrna- The 1836-Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints/Judah

-Are the true Jews, rich in the eyes of the world while in spiritual poverty

Through the Lord’s mentioning unto them of the blasphemy of those that say they are Jews but are not, I conclude the church of Smyrna to be the legitimate Jews who—unbeknownst to them—are descendants of those of the Kingdom of Judah who were in Israel at the time of Christ’s ministry. The 1835-Twelve traveling council was prophesied to declare the gospel to the Jews (D&C 18; D&C 112) which assuredly occurred when the Twelve were sent on missions across the great waters. These Jews were gathered to the lands of their inheritance (the promised land of America) and restored into the fold of God (2 Nephi 9:2) after beginning to believe in Christ (2 Nephi 30:7) by having come to a mere knowledge of the fulness of the gospel. (3 Nephi 16:12) The majority of Nauvoo saints were these Jews who would not reject the fulness of the gospel because the fulness was never actually given to them in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. However, the fulness was offered unto them—as well unto the remaining Gentiles who still associated themselves with the restored church—but this missed opportunity resulted in the rejection of the church.

As these Jews had only begun to believe in Christ through intellectual persuasion rather than through the revelation of the Holy Ghost, they are in spiritual poverty without the capacity to become sanctified and build Zion. Regardless, the Jews who soon composed the rejected church are God’s people and are blessed with intelligence and success as seen in the admirable yet worldly society they built in Utah.

-Goes through tribulation, but should not fear this; some are cast into prison by the devil

Because this group of believers in God do not build a true safe haven from the world, they experience the tribulation that comes by way of the wickedness of the world which infiltrates their soon-to-be rejected of God-church. However, they are told not to fear this tribulation in which they all experience. It appears the only thing they are to fear is the possibility that the devil will entice some of them deep enough into sin that they will be cast into spiritual prison and then experience the second death.

-They will have tribulation ten days, told to be faithful unto death

This is the other piece of evidence that indicates this group are Jews. The ten-day tribulation refers to the Jewish tradition of going through ten days of repentance until Yom Kippur, the Day of Atonement, in which they are to afflict their souls as part of an offering unto the Lord. (Lev 23:27) Because the Jews do not fully accept the the suffering of Christ in their behalf—not comprehending it—they must experience suffering themselves as did the ancient Jews under the law of Moses. Although their approach to God is not in harmony with the new testament, the Lord accepts their offering so long as they remain faithful to what light they have. Not living by grace, they are justified by the sufferings they bring upon themselves.

-If they overcome will not experience second death

The church of Smyrna is not promised the richer blessing given unto those who are made perfect through the mediator of the new covenant. But Christ loves them as they are “his own” (3 Nephi 9:16) and they will receive a terrestrial salvation to eventually become sanctified after their pain wherein they will dwell in the presence of Christ forever and ever. (D&C 133:35) Although their works in mortality were not grounded in celestial law, such as their practice of plural marriage, it is not held against them for they did not live by faith but according to the lesser law of commandments in which God approbated anciently and must continue to do so under conditions such as this, dealing once again with a group of believers who cannot fathom the true message of the gospel. The terrestrial souls do not receive a testimony of Jesus in the flesh (D&C 76:74) as seen in this group of believers, who are blinded from seeing the true source of salvation. If they remain honorable in their works—as misdirected as they may be—they will receive salvation after their tribulations and not experience the second death with the devil and his angels.

 

Pergamos – The post-1841 LDS Church/The unconverted House of Israel

-Holds fast to the name of Christ, does not deny the faith of Christ but does not have faith themselves

This church is composed of all nations, kindreds, tongues, and peoples—who, like unto Epheus and Smyrna, do not posses the gift of faith but hold fast to the name of Christ and will not deny the portion of faith they have during the time of hidden darkness that preludes the marvelous work and a wonder. The church of Smyrna (Judah) is a sub-group of believers within this church, who go along for the ride after their church is rejected, wrongfully believing that the church of Pergamos represents the same church they joined previous to 1841. Although Ephesus (Ephraim) would not associate itself with Pergamos—most of them having already distanced themselves from Smyrna/The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints—the Jews of Smyrna remain in Pergamos as it casts an open net into the world and brings together a wide variety of believers from all the tribes of Israel as well as the remaining tares of the earth. However, the tares combined with Israel do not constitute the church of Pergamos within the rejected church, because Pergamos does not deny the faith of Christ. The church of Pergamos claims to be The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, but the name is not applicable because God did not consider the members to be Saints by March of 1841. (D&C 125)

-Dwells where Satan’s seat is and guilty of being connected with those who hold the doctrine of Nicolaitans

The LDS temple endowment ceremony is the doctrine spoken of, as it is a ritual done in terms of secrecy in the manner of darkness. Although the ceremony no longer requires participants to covenant in agreement to having their throats cut open if they choose to reveal the secrets of the ceremony, it is still the obvious fulfillment to the secret abominations held to and embraced by members of this church. For the time being, it appears as though even the humble followers of Christ are currently deceived and err in this instance (2 Nephi 28:14) although they themselves are not guilty of committing abominations. What is held against them is their allowance for these secret combinations to prevail among them instead of waking up to their awful situation. (Ether 8:24) They believe the temple to be harmless when Moroni has informed us that Saints have been murdered in connection to it. They are yet to realize they have been duped into making a covenant with death (Isa 28:18) and will need to repent of it before the overflowing scourge begins or they will be trodden down as the wrath of God begins—first of all, upon the House of Israel. (D&C 112:25) The temple in which they find “refuge” is a refuge of lies and the covenants made there have been made with hell itself (Isa 28:15) thus being the very the place Satan dwells. Paul prophesied that the son of perdition will be found sitting in one of the temples of God (2 Thes 2:3-4) which will surely occur in one of the LDS temples if it hasn’t already.

-Guilty of allowing individuals to bring forth stumbling-blocks which tempt the children of Israel into engaging with false idols and committing fornication

The list of false doctrines and erroneous beliefs about the nature of God over the entire history of the rejected church is endless. Each and every president of the church has agreed and disagreed with one or another, leaving the membership in a state of confusion where none see eye-to-eye. Although the church has stamped out many of its early-day heresies, the doctrine of the Father having once been a mortal man with a god above himself is still regarded as a foundational belief and paints a worldview of working towards salvation through eternal progression to become a god themselves. Thus, they walk in their own way in the image of their own god (D&C 1:16) putting their trust into a false idol.

Another stumbling-block is the spiritual-wife doctrine which originated in Nauvoo and ended before the turn of the twentieth century. Pergamos has not stamped it out completely, allowing for Section 132 to remain in their scriptures and continuing to believe in the “eternal sealing” ritual—the source of which was originally associated with the secret practice of marrying multiple women to receive a higher exaltation. The spirit of whoredom follows the church and is evident in the widespread consummation of pornography and the increasingly common occurrence of divorce/remarriage. Believing plural marriage to be connected to a fulness of glory has attributed to the development of deviant men who do not find refuge and strength in the bonds of monogamy.

The beliefs of spiritual-wifery espoused by the tares are separate and different from the practice of plural marriage that Judah would engage in. Smyrna/Judah would have been those that chose to live polygamy not out of lust but because they associated it with their effort to perform works to gain salvation. They wrongfully believed that plural marriage was a test by God to see if they would follow his commandments and thought their submission to it would prove their dedication. The Book of Hosea had a vision of the latter-day practice of polygamy; and prophesied that after Israel falls in their iniquity, Judah would also. (Hosea 5:5) What should be noted was that while those of Judah fall, their fall is not related to iniquity as it was to the rest of Israel. Their fall was due to their vulnerability in being blinded by the craftiness of the men, which is the inevitable destiny of all terrestrial souls. (D&C 76:75) The final word on Judah according to Hosea’s vision: “The house of Israel [is] with deceit: but Judah yet ruleth with God, and is faithful with the saints.” (11:12)

-If they overcome they will eat the hidden manna (Christ) and receive the new name

If the House of Israel becomes converted for the marvelous work they will no longer have the name of their tribe of Israel (or their LDS temple-endowment name) but receive the name of the Father written on their foreheads as is seen of them who become the 144,000 on Mount Zion. (Rev 14:1) When the 144,000 are sealed as high priests out of the tribes of Israel they will be discovered to have originally been members of the rejected latter-day church. According to the Book of Revelation, the tribes of Israel who then must compose Pergamos are:

Judah

Reuben

Gad

Aser

Nepthalim

Manasseh

Simeon

Levi

Issachar

Zabulon

Joseph

Benjamin

Notice that Dan is not listed. I believe this tribe is the tares combined with the rejected church who gain control and power over it. Latter-day Israel was told by Christ in 3 Nephi 16 that the Gentiles would not have power over them when they came to a knowledge of the fulness of the gospel. Because Judah is chosen of God to have authority over Israel, it is quickly assumed that this tribe has once again reigned over Israel in the latter-days. However it is inferred by Jacob that Dan seemingly takes it upon himself to be a judge without any apparent divine endorsement to do so. In fact, nothing good is said about this tribe at all. So although the Gentiles will not have power over Israel, Dan will, “judge his people as one of the tribes of Israel.” (Gen 49:16) The best explanation for this verse is to conclude that the wicked leaders of the LDS church who judge the members and bind them with heavy burdens are of the tribe which has been excluded from being among the potential 144,000 of the House of Israel and is not being spoken to, addressed, or commended by John in his letter to Pergamos.

The tribe of Dan is prophesied by Jacob to be serpents (Gen 49:17) which is the same thing Christ called the Pharisees and scribes (Matt 23:33) who I imagine must have also been of this tribe and not Judah—for the tribe of Judah was approved by God to reliably fight against the enemies of Israel, not be an enemy themselves. (Gen 49:8) This correlates with Jeremiah 8:16 which informs us that the enemy will be heard from Dan—also said to, “publisheth affliction from mount Ephraim.” (Jer 4:15) The “Jews” that lorded over the Jewish people were of the devil (John 8:44) and there’s no reason to doubt that the enemy has once again found a way to lord over God’s people.

Lastly, I’ll mention why Ephraim is missing from the list. This is because Ephraim is classified among the Gentiles; and all tribes of Israel will have a mixed lineage with Gentile/Ephraim after having been scattered among the nations. In other words, the House of Israel (minus Judah) can be considered as Gentiles.

Some believe the tribe of Joseph in Revelation 7 is meant to represent Ephraim—but if so, why wouldn’t it simply have been written as Ephraim? The Lord was hinting towards something. I believe the 12,000 high priests ordained from the tribe of Joseph will have come out of a new lineage of Joseph of Egypt through the mortal probation of Joseph Smith; who, in Section 124, received a special anointing upon himself and on the head of the posterity after him. (D&C 124:57) Joseph Smith’s posterity is referred to as a “house” (124:56) which is a term that can be associated with an individual tribe of Israel. (2 Sam 2:11) Thousands of descendants of Joseph Smith, whether they be in the church of Pergamos or in remnants of Ephesus, will be redeemed as members of the New Jerusalem and participate in the final administration of the everlasting gospel.

If the tribe of Joseph does in fact relate to Joseph Smith, this may demonstrate why Joseph married women wherein there was no sexual motivation to do so. The descendants of his plural wives, not of his literal seed, may still be members of his house. And because we know that Joseph has an extremely small group of literal descendants, this explains why there can yet be 12,000 of his tribe on the earth today.

Thyatira – The [future] Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints/The converted House of Israel

-Has works, charity, service, faith, patience; then lists “works” a second time

This is the first church said to have faith. It is also listed as having charity, the pure love of Christ which endures forever. (Moroni 7:47) This church will not go into apostasy—although some of its members will—for charity never faileth. (1 Cor 13:8) The first works of this church which prelude the charity and faith may have originally been “dead works” but Christ attributes works to them a second time, saying their last works will be of more worth than their first. The term “dead works” can refer to an invalid baptism (Moroni 8:23) that does not enable the believer to enter the strait gate (D&C 22:2) which makes sense in accepting this church to have originally belonged to the church of Pergamos whose baptisms were never accepted by God. Those in Pergamos who pray unto the Father to be filled with the pure love of Christ will receive a rightful baptism in their scattered state before gathering together upon the land of Zion. The defining characteristic of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is the condition of it being, “scattered abroad in all the world.” (D&C 115:4) The members of the LDS church today are scattered abroad but are not members of Thyatira until they are baptized by priesthood messengers wherein they will finally become Saints and “arise and shine forth” as said of them in Section 115 and Isaiah 60. The mormon-House of Israel will be first to receive the invitation to Zion when the times of the Gentiles comes in and the light shines among them; but as a whole, Pergamos will not receive it. (D&C 45:28) Thyatira consists of the converted Gentiles mixed into the twelve tribes of Revelation 7 who are the wheat of the Pergamos church who exit the apostate church once true prophets arrive on scene before the calamities strike and the desolating scourge goes forth.

-Those who do not fornicate or associate with idols

The wheat of God’s harvest will believe in the celestial law of monogamy (D&C 42:22/49:16-17) and be pure of all sexual sin. They endure sound doctrine (2 Tim 4:3) and dismiss the fables taught to them by false teachers. They will not be deceived in going after other gods but have faith in the true nature of God that has been declared by prophets in simplicity throughout all of scripture. Thyatira will be those that treasured up God’s word (JST-Matt 1:37) in stark contrast to their fellow brethren in Pergamos who reject the fulness due to the precepts of men (D&C 45:29) which are upheld over scripture.

-Allows a prophetess to seduce servants of Christ into fornication, and eat things sacrificed unto idols; told to hold fast to what they already have

So far I’m unaware of the details surrounding this narrative…in the meanwhile I am confident that it has not yet come to pass, because The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is not on the earth. When it is, the elect should be on high alert: it is prophesied that a woman will come among them and seduce the servants of Christ to commit fornication and eat/consume/enjoy a false god. This prophetess will obviously be one who shows great signs and wonders (Matt 24:24) as said of Christ in regards to the false prophets and false Christs who come in the last days, which we have not yet seen. Although it is not possible for the elect to be deceived—the elect who are predestinated to be the 144,000—there will be true followers of Christ in Thyatira who will fall for the signs and wonders that Satan conjures. Jesus says unto his disciples, “Take heed that no man deceive you.” (Matt 24:4) His disciples can be deceived, and the elect will have this held against them because they have been entrusted as elders with oversight among the flock of God. (1 Peter 5:2) Sadly, the elect of the elders of Israel will fail in this. Those that are seduced by the prophetess are those who fall from grace and depart from the living God (D&C 20:32-34) after the power of the Lamb of God descends upon the Saints when they are still scattered upon all the face of the earth. (1 Nephi 14:14) The elect will hold fast to what they have—the fulness of the gospel—and the disciples who are deceived will be cast into hell with the false prophetess, although the Lord does indicate they have an opportunity to repent.

-If they overcome they have power over the nations, and receive the morning star

The term “power over the nations” that is used to describe those in Thyatira who successfully overcome their challenges and temptations, is used in only one other place in scripture—D&C 77:11, which informs us that once the 144,000 are sealed as high priests they will have power over the nations. Section 77 proves that the faithful of Thyatira will in fact be the future 144,000 once they have been gathered to the cornerstone of Zion with the other Saints who are not part of the 144,000. Once they have been sealed unto this power, The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints will cease to exist because none of the Saints will remain scattered. The gathering from the four quarters of the earth will be accomplished when the elect arrive “unto the one place upon the face of this [American] land” where they will be “prepared in all things against the day when tribulation and desolation is sent forth.” (D&C 29:8) The gathering of elect from the four winds which occurs next does not refer to those living on earth but to those “from one end of heaven to the other.” (JST-Mathew 24/JST Mark 13) The four-wind gathering is the elect who have died, such as those who overcame in Ephesus as well as the righteous in all other dispensations. Eventually another gathering from the four quarters of the earth will transpire, but the last to be gathered will not be classified as celestial-Saints.

The morning star is Joseph Smith, the angel that revealed the prophecy unto John (Rev 22:16) who is the “root” of David. (Isa 53:2) Sidney Rigdon is the “root of Jesse” (D&C 113:6); the morning star who comes at a later time to a wider group of elect. The 144 of Thyatira receive Joseph Smith who has the seal over them as the Elias-angel to “gather” the twelve tribes and “restore” the fulness of priesthood after “ascending” from hell. (D&C 77:9) With the fulness of priesthood they will redeem Zion as promised of Joseph when he gathers the strength of God’s “house [of Israel].” (D&C 103:21)

 

Sardis – The Watchers/Friends of the Bridegroom

-Has a name that they live, but are dead; works not perfect, although a few of them are already worthy

As mentioned at the start of this post, I believe in multiple probations and conclude this to be a reference to them. Here I will not delve into the deep theology pertaining to it and the many scriptures that provide commentary and justification for it, but as soon as I write my thesis on it I will update this section with a URL to it.

Although the Watchers of Sardis have died in a previous probation and many need to live again to have their sins blotted out during the times of refreshing (Acts 3:19) some return having already been sanctified, thus worthy—having already perfected their works

-Told to be watchful; if they fail to watch, Christ will come as a thief and not know the hour

It is accepted that none will know “the hour or day” (JST-Matt 1:39) of the Second Coming of Christ, and this is true. However the Lord comes secretly to the earth three times as a thief (JST-Luke 12:42-45) previous to the coming in glory in which every eye shall see. (Rev 1:7) The church of Sardis exists before the third watch, and this verse indicates that the watchers can know the time of the final preliminary coming. If they succeed in watching they will expect him down to the very hour he arrives and he will not be a thief unto them.

-If they overcome they will have white garments

White garments are given unto those of the New Jerusalem. (Ether 13:10) Although most members of New Jerusalem—the ones that will live in the last days and not previous dispensations—are those who do not experience the tribulation of the last days, the church of Sardis are the ones who die in martyrdom as recorded in Revelation 6 during the time between the opening of the fifth and sixth seal. In the Joseph Smith-translation, Sardis is told, “be watchful therefore, and strengthen those who remain who are ready to die,” which refers to Revelation 6: “And white robes were given unto every one of them; and it was said unto them, that they should rest yet for a little season, until their fellowservants also and their brethren, that should be killed as they were, should be fulfilled.” (verse 11)

The Church of the Firstborn is referred to as the Bride of Christ, but John the Baptist differentiated himself from the bride and proclaimed himself to instead be a friend to the bridegroom. (John 3:29) Not all celestial souls are members of the Bride, for Section 76 does not outline the celestial as being required members of it, only that they come into company with it (as well as coming into company with the church of Enoch.)

Being a friend to the Bridegroom is not a lesser classification, for friends of God are those whose faith is made perfect through works (James 2:22-23) which is the very thing asked of the church in Sardis. Becoming a Friend of God according to James is through sacrifice. The friends to the Bridegroom must sacrifice their lives as did John the Baptist.

Those in Sardis said to be worthy were the ones who already sacrificed their lives in previous dispensations, who prepare the brethren to do the same: “strengthen those who remain who are ready to die.” (JST) Their fellowservants are “ready to die” as was Paul (Acts 21:13) and know it is their duty to do so. If they are not watchful, they will no longer be members of Sardis and become members of the future Laodicean church where they will overcome the same way Christ overcame (Rev 3:21) for having crucified Christ—so either they will die as martyrs or suffer the future wrath of God.

Those in Sardis that face martyrdom will have succeeded in taking up their cross and losing their lives for the sake of Christ and not their own sake. (Matt 16:24-25) It does appear, however, that those who are deceived by false prophets will be killed for the sake of Christ (JST-Mathew 1:5-7) which does infer that the Watchers are a group of believers that, in the past, made serious errors in their search for Christ. Yet regardless of their mistakes, the Watchers are described as holy ones who desire all to know the Most High (Daniel 4:17) and will speak out against the wickedness of the Danite tares. (Jer 4:15-16)

The members of Sardis who are Watchers (and know the hour of Christ’s third-watch) are the holy ones that are not deceived by the tares in sheep’s clothing but perhaps by others who claim to be anointed. These false christ’s will deliver them up (Luke 21:12) and the holy ones of them will be put to death, having already settled in their minds what answer they will give. They overcome by staying true to their testimony. (Luke 21:13/Rev 6:11) Before their deaths, they will see Christ and the Father as holy ones that did receive the testimony of Jesus while still in the flesh (D&C 76:51) even though they experienced deception previously, either in previous probations or during the time leading up to the opening of the sixth seal, before—and perhaps even during—the third watch.

Of course it is probable that not all martyrdom will be a result of past deception, that some will accept it because to them there would no greater honor than being martyred.

 

Philadelphia- The Church of the Firstborn/The Bride of the New Jerusalem

-Has an open door and the love of Jesus; has little strength, yet has not denied his name; kept the word

-Is told to hold their fast, they do not engage in idols

-Will be kept from the hour of temptation; the fake Jews will worship at their feet

-If they overcome will be a pillar in the temple of God with the name of God and the name of the New Jerusalem

The church of Philadelphia are the inhabitants of the New Jerusalem that are not members of the 144,000 that came out of the church of Pergamos and were the Smyrna-Saints. The Saints who are scattered abroad are separate from the other “covenant people of the Lord” (1 Nephi 14:14) who will leave Babylon in due time of the Lord to join the Saints when each group gathers to the land of Zion.

The covenant people of the Lord are members of the elect (JST-Mathew 1:22)—not of the prophesied House of Israel that are the wheat who gather out of the wheat/tare-infused rejected church, nor are they the martyrs of Sardis. The Philadelphia church are the repentant-Gentiles of the last days who will be numbered among the House of Israel (3 Nephi 16:13) to assist the remnant of Jacob (the first labourers of the last kingdom-D&C 52:2) in building the city of the New Jerusalem before it is raptured.

The Church of the Firstborn refers not only to Christ who is the firstborn of all (Coll 1:15) but to Ephraim’s status of being the firstborn before God. (Jer 31:9) This is why when the Ephraim-Gentiles were offered the fulness of the gospel in 1830, the church was organized on April 6th, the day which fell upon the Fast of the Firstborn.

Although the Gentiles rejected the fulness of the gospel, the times of the Gentiles comes in one last time (D&C 45:28-30) when the arm of the Lord is revealed to convince the heathen nations of the gospel of salvation. (D&C 90:10) The marvelous work of the third watch is directed unto the Gentiles (1 Nephi 22:8) who are considered heathens.

What I am unsure of, however, is their history before receiving their status and characteristics in Philadelphia. These Gentiles could be the true Christians who have rejected the creeds of apostate-Christianity—or could even be the current-day atheists. It seems more likely to me that atheists will be more reciprocal to the marvelous work when God’s word hisses forth as the Lord sets his hand again the second time. It will become apparent to them that the reason they did not find God during the time of apostasy was because satan was indeed the god of the world (2 Cor 4:4) and the religions of the earth belonged to him. They will have seen through the lies and not been brainwashed into believing they already possess the truth.

If they are Christians they will have been those who drifted from church to church, always suspicious of the complete lack of signs that should attend the true believers, the fruits of which are obsolete in all denominations. (Mark 16) These Christians will never be satisfied while they continue to sin and accept they have not been sanctified or truly born-again.

The past identity of Philadelphia will be irrelevant in terms of their future status as pillars in the temple of God. Once they receive God’s word they will keep it. The patience they have is that they refused to worship the beast (Rev 13:8-10)—or in other words, they refused to worship a false god. If they hold fast to what they have—keeping the commandments and having faith in Jesus—they will be kept from the hour of temptation where they would be killed for not receiving the mark of the beast. They will not be martyred for refusing to do so as the faithful of Sardis will—for the faithful of Philadelphia will be in Zion when the lamb-like beast of the dragon (the antichrist) arrives to force the inhabitants of the earth to worship the first beast (with seven heads and ten crowns) that he will give life to by the power of Satan.

The fake Jews will worship before the feet of this church. They will fall down before Ephraim and be crowned by their hands. (D&C 133:32)

 

Laodiceans- The Remnant/The Jews of the Old Jerusalem

-Neither cold nor hot; they are lukewarm, spewed from God’s mouth

-Rich in the world—but poor, wretched, miserable, blind, and naked

-Counselled to buy of Christ to be rich, to receive white raiment to not be naked, to be anointed to see

-Is loved of Christ

-If they overcome the same way Christ overcomes they will sit on the throne

This is the final church who can receive better than a telestial salvation. They have the opportunity to be redeemed after the second trump, before the third trump sounds.

This group is rich in the eyes of the world, a reference to them being the remnant of Smyrna, the other church to be rich. These are the Jews that began to believe in Christ in 1836 when God brought them to a knowledge of the fulness of the gospel. When they “begin” to believe they “begin to gather in upon the face of the land” (2nd Nephi 30:7) but this does not constitute their prophetic gathering to Jerusalem, the land of their inheritance.

The Jerusalem promised to them is not the New Jerusalem nor is it the Jerusalem located in Palestine; it is Kirtland (D&C 109:62)—a place designated for refuge that is not the land of Zion but a stake of it. (D&C 124:36)

While the Gentiles flee to Zion, Judah will flee to Jerusalem to the mountain of the Lord’s house. (D&C 133:12-13) However, Judah does not gather to Jerusalem until the times of the Gentiles are fulfilled. (D&C 45:25)

The remnant gathers after the sun is darkened and the moon turns to blood, which occurs when the times of the Gentiles are fulfilled (JST Luke 21:25) and the elect have already been gathered from the four quarters of the earth.

After the New Jerusalem comes with those numbered among the seed of Joseph, then comes the Jerusalem of old. (Ether 13) Those of the old Jerusalem do not have white garments, but will be washed in the blood of the Lamb, for Judah will be sanctified after their pain. (D&C 133:35) The Jews are loved of Christ which is why even though the Laodicean church is spoken of so poorly they still retain his love.

After the marvelous work concludes and the first trump is blown (D&C 88:94) the wrath of God is poured out upon the great church (the tares) and then commences the work of the Father. (1 Nephi 14:17) According to Christ, the New Jerusalem is already built and he is in the midst of it before the work of the Father begins to prepare a way for “his people” to be “gathered home to the land of their inheritance.” (3 Nephi 21:26-28)

After the second trump, those who belong to Christ at his coming will be redeemed/sanctified. (D&C 88:99) This is the remnant who will not be the firstfruits of Christ who ascend with him at the Second Coming, but will be in Kirtland and see him coming in the clouds. (D&C 45:43-44)

The remnant will also include those in Sardis who were cut off for not watching (D&C 45:44) and did not have their sins remitted during the time of refreshing because they missed out on the third watch. Their redemption comes later, after their pain, when they look upon Christ. They will “weep because of their iniquities” and “lament because they persecuted their king.” (D&C 45:53) This brings to pass Revelation 1:7—those that pierced Christ will be on the earth to see him coming in the clouds.

One last thing I’ll mention is that there are four and twenty elders that receive a celestial inheritance and yet belonged to all seven churches (D&C 77:5) which indicates that even members of the Laodecian church can receive the white robes of the New Jerusalem. (Rev 4:4) It is likely that the final gathering of the old Jerusalem will receive white robes once they are sanctifed.

The curious thing asked of the Laodecian church is for them to overcome as Christ overcame inferring that their redemption is by treading the wrath of God. This is the pain of Judah which comes before sanctification.

The Priesthood pt. 1 “Nobody Holds the Melchizedek Priesthood — Sorry, Not Sorry”

Section 50 was given to the “elders” of the church. They had all been ordained Elders, which comes UNDER the Melchizedek priesthood.

Being an Elder is not the same as holding the Melchizedek priesthood.

See Section 107:

63 Wherefore, from deacon to teacher, and from teacher to priest, and from priest to elder…

64 Then comes the Highest Priesthood, which is the greatest of all.

Section 50 was given to the elders of the church who had not received the fulness of the priesthood.

In that section, God puts forth a question.

The question is: “unto what were ye ordained?”

He then says, “ye shall answer this question yourselves.”

Meaning God is not answering the question–

We are to answer it.

Unto what have we been ordained? Do we hold the Melchizedek priesthood, or are we just elders?

16 Behold ye shall answer this question yourselves; nevertheless I will be merciful unto you; he that is weak among you hereafter shall be made strong.

I believe the Lord is telling the first elders and us that we must admit we have not been ordained to the fulness of the priesthood. Yet in our weakness, as elders, we will made strong as high priests!

God says, “he that is ordained of me and sent forth to preach the word of truth by the Comforter, in the Spirit of truth, doth he preach it by the Spirit of truth or some other way? And if it be by some other way, it is not of God.” Verse 17-18

Those that are not ordained to the Melchizedek priesthood are not OF God!

He that receiveith of God, let him account it of God, and let him rejoice that he is accounted of God.” Verse 34

Who are OF God?

The sons of God!!!!

How do you become a son of God? By receiving a baptism of fire.

The Melchizedek priesthood is the baptism of fire.

After Adam was baptized by fire, he entered the Melchizedek order.

Moses 6:

66 Thou art baptized with fire, and with the Holy Ghost…

67 Thou art after the order of him who was without beginning of days or end of years.

This is the same terminology for the high priests in The Book of Mormon.

Alma 13:

8 …. taking upon them the high priesthood of the holy order, which calling, and ordinance, and high priesthood is without beginning or end–

9 Thus they become high priests forever, after the order of the Son, the Only Begotten of the Father, who is without beginning of days or end of years.

11 Therefore they were called after this holy order, and were sanctified.

We know that sanctification occurs with the reception of the Holy Ghost, a baptism of fire.

So when someone receives the baptism of fire, the other Comforter, they are part of the holy order of God.

THAT is the Melchizedek priesthood.

Section 50 says that, “he that is ordained of God… is possessor of all things… but no man is possessor of all things except he be cleansed from all sin.” Verses 26-28

You need to be cleansed from all sin before you are ordained of God.

The elders were told in Section 50 that they, “cannot bear all things now.” Verse 40

This is evidence that the Melchizedek priesthood was not yet given to the church!

It was only until the Morley Farm Conference in June 1831 that the Melchizedek priesthood was restored to the earth.

As Elders/Apostles of the church, they held the KEYS of the Melchizedek priesthood, but needed to receive a baptism of fire before being ordained to the fulness of the priesthood.

Section 52– received at the Morley Farm Conference– is to the elders of the church who have been called AND chosen. (Verse 1)

Being called is the calling to receive the ordination of Elder.

Being chosen is God choosing his servants to enter the holiest order of God.

Section 53 shines light on the distinctions between this. The revelation is to Sidney Gilbert, concerning his, “calling and election in the church.”

Sidney was called to be an elder, to PREACH faith and repentance. He was not yet ELECTED to ADMINISTER the gospel.

These are the first ordinances which you shall receive; and the residue shall be made known in a time to come, according to your labor in the vineyard.” verse 6

The next ordinance Sidney Gilbert would receive was an ordination to High Priest.

That was his calling and election/being chosen.

Once he received his calling AND election, he could do more than just preach; he could administer the saving ordinances.

So how do you make your calling and election made sure? This the question so many Mormons have stumbled around.

It as simple as this: Your calling and election is made sure when you receive the Comforter, the Spirit of Truth.

This happens through a baptism of fire.

That is the gospel. That is the doctrine of Christ.

2nd Nephi 31

17 … the gate by which ye should enter is repentance, and baptism of water; and then cometh a remission of your sins by fire and and by the Holy Ghost.

18 And then are ye in this strait and narrow path which leads to eternal life.

We are only in the strait and narrow path if we have received a baptism of fire!!!!!!!

Receiving the baptism of fire puts us in the order which has no beginning of days or end of years.

Lastly, I want to take a look at Section 43 and it’s implications now that we understand what the Melchizedek Priesthood really is.

For verily I say unto you, he that is ordained of me shall come in at the gate.” verse 7

What is the gate?

The doctrine of Christ.

This I give unto you that you may not be deceived.” verse 6

Did the LDS church receive the teachings and leadership of someone who did not come in at the gate, receiving a baptism of fire to be properly ordained?

Methinks…

yes.

Brigham Young did not receive sanctification like the first elders of the church.

He was only an Elder.

Section 20 tells us that an elder is the same as an apostle.

So Brigham being an apostle doesn’t count as coming in through the gate.

Who did come in at the gate?

The first elders of the church!

They are who Section 84 and 88 are speaking of.

Wherefore, I now send upon you another Comforter, even upon you my friends, that it may abide in your hearts, even the Holy Spirit of Promise; which other Comforter is the same that I promised unto my disciples, as is recorded in the testimony of John. The Comforter is the promise which I give unto you of eternal life, even the glory of the celestial kingdom.”

88:3-4

The Comforter is the Holy Spirit of Promise!

Those that enter into the celestial kingdom must receive the Holy Spirit of Promise.

Section 76:

52 That by keeping the commandments they might be washed and cleansed from all their sins, and receive the Holy Spirit by the laying on of hands of him who is ordained AND sealed unto this power.

53 And who overcome by faith, and are sealed by the Holy Spirit of Promise.

57 [they] are priests of the Most High, after the order of Melchizedek…

We need to receive the Holy Ghost by someone who is ordained AND sealed unto that power.

To be sealed unto that power is to receive the Comforter, which is what the first elders received, and the original Twelve Apostles, as well as the Three Nephites & others.

We cannot receive a baptism of fire until someone who has already received a baptism of fire lays their hands on us.

Being an Elder is not enough to administer the gospel in power. It is only enough to PREACH the gospel.

We must be watching for those the Lord has properly ordained. Those that have come in at the gate, been baptized, and received the one and only Comforter, the Spirit of Truth.

When the final servants go forth to bind up the law of consecration among the (true!) Saints, they will also seal us up to eternal life the way Joseph sealed up the first elders as recorded in Sections 84 and 88.

In my opinion I have proven (though I changed no one’s mind) that it was the Nauvoo HOUSE that needed to be built in time before the church was rejected, and not the Nauvoo Temple.

I believe this is important, because Denver Snuffer is building a temple and not a house when a house needs to first be built in order to receive the fulness of the priesthood.

I reached out to Snufferites to challenge me, and none did.

He believes my contention to be laughable.

He also believes that the Nauvoo Temple was accepted by God.

I find THAT laughable. He thinks that an unfinished temple was enough to appease God.

This is what the Lord says about his houses:

Let them from that time forth labor diligently until it shall be finished, from the cornerstone thereof unto the top thereof, until there shall not anything remain that is not finished.

-Section 115:12

So to me it sounds like God isn’t interested in unfinished temples.

Joseph Smith said this: “Don’t deny revelation. If the Temple and Nauvoo House are not finished, you must run away. Our salvation depends on it.”

The Nauvoo Temple was not finished. The historical record PROVES THAT.

This is what Brigham Young said in admittance:

I met with the Council of the Twelve in the southeast corner room of the attic of the Temple. We knelt around the altar, and dedicated the building to the Most High. We asked his blessing upon our intended move to the west; also asking him to enable us some day to finish the Temple, and dedicate it to him, and we would leave it in his hands to do as he pleased; and to preserve the building as a monument to Joseph Smith. We asked the Lord to accept the labors of his servants in this land. We then left the Temple.”

Immediately after Brigham’s prayer, the temple caught fire and went up in flames.

This happened in 1846.

Even by then, they never finished the freaking temple…

The historical record shows that the apostles built a masonic temple and built themselves expensive brick houses during the time in which they should have put all efforts into the Nauvoo House and Temple.

The Nauvoo Temple was never accepted by God.

That should be sufficient to prove that the church was rejected by God by this time.

I take it a step further and say the church was rejected by 1842. I also take it another step further and say that the Nauvoo House was what was being commanded of God to build during that appointed time in Nauvoo.

My ideas make things more complicated and harder for people to digest, but they are nonetheless true. All my ideas support the fact that the masonic endowment and polygamy were ploys of Satan. My conclusions let everything fall into their proper place.

I also believe that the Nauvoo Temple was defiled by its occult symbols as well as the Moroni statue. The Kirtland House/Temple, which was accepted by God, had none of that.

Now with all of this mind, in regards to Far West I want to mention something I’m suspecting about Section 115.

I believe that in order to understand the D&C we have to remove ourselves from the historical context of each revelation.

For instance:

The Saints believed Section 124 was referring to the Nauvoo Temple– because that’s where they were doing baptisms for the dead– and the Saints believed Section 84 was referring to the temple in Missouri, not the Kirtland House/Temple.

We have to mystically observe God’s word without using the hindsight of an apostate church!

Section 115 gives the commandment to build a House in Far West–

Or does it?

I believe Section 115 was never meant to have anything to do with Far West.

Perhaps Joseph and the Saints believed it was, but I believe it was a foreshadowing of the future.

False Prophets pt. 2 “Brigham Young”

Brigham Young is a different kind of false prophet than Denver Snuffer. There are two kinds. One false prophet comes wearing sheep’s clothing, and the other comes without.

Denver Snuffer was excommunicated from the church. He never had the cloak of authority.

Brigham Young, on the other hand, did have a priesthood calling. He had sheep’s clothing.

Now, my contention is that his priesthood calling was NOT the priesthood calling that many believe him to have had.

Brigham Young had authority, but not the authority that allowed him to reign over God’s people.

While the LDS have forever believed him to be one of the Twelve Apostles, I, myself, do not believe he was ever such a thing.

I do not believe the Twelve Apostles were ever called to the earth during Joseph’s Smith ministry.

Before the church was established, Joseph Smith received a revelation (D&C 18) that was for both Oliver Cowdery and David Whitmer. They were given the duty of finding the disciples of Christ who would be the last days Twelve Apostles.

Just as there was Twelve Apostles in the meridian of time, there would again be Twelve Apostles walking the earth.

Imagine living in such a time as this. Imagine how exciting it would be to know that Twelve Apostles would again be called to declare the gospel to the world.

The interesting thing is:

Oliver Cowdery and David Whitmer would never find them.

They were told to “search out the Twelve, who shall have the desires of which I have spoken. And by their desires and their works you shall know them.” (D&C 18:38-39)

After this revelation, the church was soon established, yet the finding of the Twelve Apostles seemed to be put on hiatus. Even when the Melchizedek priesthood was restored to the earth in 1831, they STILL did not ordain the Twelve.

Were they uninspired? Or slothful?

No.

According to God, they were both called to the same calling as that of Paul! Oliver and David were prophets of God and were doing exactly what God wanted them.

Nearly six years later after being told to search out the Twelve, they FINALLY ordained a group of men to be apostles– including, of course, Brigham Young.

This happened in 1835, after the fulness of the gospel had been rejected and lost from the earth.

So why did God want them to wait until 1835, when the fulness of the gospel/priesthood was no longer on the earth?

The Twelve ordained in 1835 were never ordained to be legitimate Twelve Apostles. Without the fulness of the priesthood, they would only be referred to as Twelve travelling councilors; or, simply, the Twelve.

When ordained in 1835, they were told by Oliver Cowdery, “Your ordination is not full and complete till God has laid his hand upon you.”

The Twelve that were ordained in 1835 would never receive a full ordination.

In D&C 112, we learn that these Twelve were not even yet converted to the gospel, full of temptation and sin.

Does this sound like the Twelve that Oliver and David were told to find: “the Twelve are they who shall desire to take upon them my name with full purpose of heart.” (v. 27)

Not to me, no.

Were BY and company the kind of disciples that the Lord Jesus Christ would call to represent him? If you read their sermons out of the Journal of Discourses, it’s not hard to realize how truly evil they were. They believed and did despicable things, all in the name of God.

They were told in Section 112 that if they didn’t stiffen their necks or harden their hearts, God would heal them.

I do not believe this was the case; they fell deeper and deeper into sin. Yet because of their priesthood calling, the Saints believed they were called of God to lead and guide them.

I could list all the evil practices and beliefs that the Twelve committed and perpetuated– and it would be such a long list– but that would be a distraction.

I want to return back to Section 18.

Oliver and David were told that by them God would work a marvelous work among the children of men. Because the Marvelous Work is still a future event, we know that Oliver and David will return to the earth.

As part of this work, Oliver and David will fulfill their calling. They will ordain the true Twelve Apostles unto the fulness of that calling, with the fulness of the priesthood.

These are the Twelve Apostles that will go into the world and do the things that the original Twelve Apostles once did.

Because I believe the Marvelous Work is about to occur, it is likely that Oliver and David are on the earth at this very moment… searching out the Twelve… who are walking amongst us, probably still unaware of the calling they are about to receive.

However, this is not the priesthood that the LDS church claims a monopoly on. The priesthood contained in the LDS church can never be given to women. The prepatory priesthoods that Mormon males hold are in fact strictly gender related.

Yet in the dispensation of the fulness of times, women will receive the priesthood which is after the order of the Son of God. This is the only priesthood that truly matters in regards to salvation.

The Lord told Emma Smith at the beginning of Joseph Smith’s ministry, that she would be “ordained” under the hand of her husband. (D&C 25:7)

This has nothing to do with the Relief Society, which was established in 1842.

Because the church was rejected of God in September of 1841, the Relief Society has no business in the legitimate church of God. It was not divinely inspired as part of the restoration of all things.

When the kingdom of God is on the earth again, it will be the same organization that existed from 1831 to 1834 under the ministration of the Prophet Joseph Smith.

When Joseph and Emma return to the earth, Joseph will ordain her unto the fulness of the priesthood, just as it was promised in Section 25. Emma will then expound scripture and exhort the church according to revelation. She will be a prophet.

The fulness of the priesthood is this:

A baptism of fire.

The proof of this is found in the Book of Moses 6. When Adam receives a baptism of fire, he is told that he is now, “after the order of him who was without beginning of days or end of years.”

That is the exact same terminology for the Melchizedek priesthood!

The priesthood which the LDS church has is both Aaronic and Patriarachal. Neither of these priesthoods can bring salvation; they are simply ordinations to perform outward ordinances. The Melchizedek priesthood is absolutely necessary to perform SAVING ordinances.

Section 76 explains that we must receive the Holy Spirit of Promise [baptism of fire] by the laying on of hands by someone who has been ordained AND sealed unto that power.

This cannot currently happen in the day and age in which we live.

Everyone in the church has been ordained to the Patriarachal priesthood, which confirms members, but does not actually bestow the gift of the Holy Ghost.

You also cannot be sealed unto the Patriarachal priesthood. This only occurs with the Melchizedek.

No one in the church has been ordained and sealed unto the Melchizedek priesthood, because no one is even being ordained unto it in the first place! The sealing of that priesthood is receiving a baptism of fire after the ordination.

Section 67:14 “In mine own due time, ye shall see and know that which was conferred upon you by the hands of my servant Joseph Smith.”

You cannot receive a baptism of fire, without the proper laying on of hands for it. And the only person that can properly bestow the Gift of the Holy Ghost is someone who has already received the Holy Ghost. They need the gift themselves to receive revelation on who can and cannot receive it.

From 1831 to 1834– with the Melchizedek priesthood on the earth– Joseph Smith was at perfect liberty to ordain anyone to that priesthood, so that they could go on to receive a baptism of fire/the fulness of the priesthood.

But the time to do so was very limited. The church broke the new and everlasting covenant, and fell into apostasy. By God’s will, Joseph did not ordain any women during that three-and-a-half-year gap of time. This was because the Melchizidek priesthood would– in a very subtle manner– be quietly replaced by the Patriarachal priesthood, which obviously only men can hold.

Women were prevented from getting caught in the crossfire of having the priesthood and then not having any priesthood at all. If this were the case, it would be too obvious that the church no longer had the full authority of God, and the church would not have been able to continue forward with a lesser priesthood and prepatory gospel.

Joseph said, “If I should tell you all I know that will come to pass within twelve years, perhaps there would not one of you believe it, and would apostatize from the Church. But I shall let you learn things as they happen, then most likely you will all stand in the Church.”

Clearly, Joseph Smith wanted the church to continue on, even in an apostate condition. It was part of God’s plan. This is why women did not receive the priesthood during the short time it could have been made available to them.

In the final dispensation, which brings in the millenium, the Melchezidek priesthood will return to the earth; and all the righteous, both male and female, will receive fulness of it. We will finally be restored from our lost and fallen state. We will no longer sin.
