Why Mormons Don’t Talk About Jesus

As an active-going LDS-attendee, I can say with utmost assurance that what I’m saying is truth: Mormons don’t believe in Jesus. At least, not as Christians do.

Jesus Christ has been removed as the main character.

Heavenly Father” took the central role.

Why is this?

Because Mormons are Jews who have only “begun” to believe in Christ, while God remains their central focus of worship.

I’m actually not criticizing the LDS church for not focusing on Christ; I think it’s great they believe in him at all.

But things in the LDS church weren’t always like this.

The change occurred in 1836 when the LDS church began gathering Jews instead of Gentiles. The Doctrine and Covenants sneakily indicates this. Observe the following:

D&C 19:27: “…my word to the Gentiles, that soon it may go to the Jew…”

D&C 90:9: “…unto the Gentiles first, and then, behold, and lo, they shall turn unto the Jews.”

D&C 107:35: “…and first unto the Gentiles and then unto the Jews.”

Then in Section 112, after the Kirtland Temple, in 1836:

4 Let thy heart be of good cheer before my face; and thou shalt bear record of my name, not only unto the Gentiles, but also unto the Jews; and thou shalt send forth my word unto the ends of the earth.

Joseph Smith gets a lot of flack for changing around his first vision. Compare his 1832 account to his 1838 account and you get a whole new picture of what happened.

Originally, the Lord appeared to Joseph and forgave him for his sins. Sounds like Christianity, doesn’t it? If only things had remained that simple!

In 1838, Joseph’s account includes being visited by both the Father and the Son, and the Father—the personage who addressed him—does all the talking. He goes on to say that all Christian creeds are an abomination, and that all preachers are corrupt.

I’m not saying that Joseph Smith made up these extra details; I’m suggesting that this retelling was God’s way to target a different audience. This account would not have resonated with the Gentiles.

The 1838-Joseph Smith was setting the stage for a Jewish cult to formulate into existence.

But those in the church are in good shape.

They have “begun” to believe in Christ, which is better than not believing in him at all.

The 1838-Book of Mormon had numerous changes made to it. Many passages that name Christ as the Eternal Father were changed to Christ being the “Son” of the Eternal Father.

This is all part of God’s glorious plan. Those in the LDS church would not have joined the Mormon church had it been Christ-focused. The LDS church had to appeal to the unbelieving Jews.

Mormon 5:

12 Now these things are written unto the remnant of the house of Jacob; and they are written after this manner, because it is known of God that wickedness will not bring them forth unto them; and they are to be hid up unto the Lord that they may come forth in his own due time.

13 And this is the commandment which I have received; and behold, they shall come forth according to the commandment of the Lord, when he shall see fit, in his wisdom.

14 And behold, they shall go unto the unbelieving of the Jews; and for this intent shall they go—that they may be persuaded that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of the living God; that the Father may bring about, through his most Beloved, his great and eternal purpose, in restoring the Jews, or all the house of Israel, to the land of their inheritance, which the Lord their God hath given them, unto the fulfilling of his covenant;

This is why the Book of Mormon changed its tune after 1836. It was simply providing a platform for unbelieving Jews to believe in Christ. It was not their scheduled time to come to a knowledge that Jesus is God.

2nd Nephi 26:

12 And as I spake concerning the convincing of the Jews, that Jesus is the very Christ, it must needs be that the Gentiles be convinced also that Jesus is the Christ, the Eternal God;

When the church was gathering Gentiles, the Book of Mormon and Joseph Smith taught perfectly clear that Christ was God. That’s why Joseph’s 1832 account had only one personage addressing him.

Alright, one last scripture….

2nd Nephi 30:

7 And it shall come to pass that the Jews which are scattered also shall begin to believe in Christ; and they shall begin to gather in upon the face of the land; and as many as shall believe in Christ shall also become a delightsome people.

8 And it shall come to pass that the Lord God shall commence his work among all nations, kindreds, tongues, and people, to bring about the restoration of his people upon the earth.

The Jews BEGIN to believe in Christ, and GATHER to America…

Then it comes to pass that the Lord God will commence his work among all nations!

That is the Marvelous Work.

Those in the LDS church will be the first ones to hear of this work. Those that are willing to graduate from their LDS way of thought will be able to embrace the fulness of the gospel and finally live it.

  1. This makes a lot of sense to me. If you want to follow this post with another, you could probably compare the anti-Christ teachings from the Book of Mormon with beliefs of church members. From my own experience, it is really hard from the inside to see why Jacob, Alma, and Abinadi were so alarmed by the teachings they refuted when they don’t seem so different from what we practice. Off the top of my head, that includes salvation by the law of Moses (saved by temple work), taxing/tithing the poor to build fine buildings, professional clergy/religious teachers, religious on Sunday only, formulaic prayer, etc.

However, more to the point of your post, beware if you are a prophet who preaches that God himself will come down to save us. You will be accused of blasphemy, which is punishable by death, especially if you happen to mention that the religious leaders are corrupt hypocrites that need to repent. (This is a caution only, based on the scriptures. I am not inferring anything else.)

  2. I love this post. I just wish we’d have the next phase coming soon, so we could graduate and move to the next phase. This all makes sense though. It is the Lord that the people address their prayers to in the Book of Mormon. There is so much in the B of M that we don’t do in the L.D.S. church. It does remind me of the Law of Moses!

    • Like the Seventh Day Adventist, Mormons seek to live by the letter of the law.

There is a law to live by, and that is the law of the gospel as contained in Section 42, which reiterates everything Christ taught in the gospels.

Hosea says that the LDS church considered the law a strange thing. They were oppressed (by sin) because they “willingly walked after the commandment” — obviously this is a false commandment if it brought about oppression. That commandment was polygamy.

The Law of Moses was “added because of transgression” and that goes with everything the Mormons are teaching. The carnal commandments have been given due to transgression.

The day of grace has passed us by. We cannot be sanctified by faith until we rend the veil of unbelief. This should be happening soon. I, too, am looking forward to it.

Do you research in depth every topic i bring up to investigate it? Or just beg for more and more. If doubt blocks you, that’s fine, but I dedicated 14 hours a day for eleven years, so what do I have for those who won’t do the work, ever? You better ask yourself if you really will, cuz if you won’t, I’ll already know, and that is why you make me a skeptic – YOU. My actions are perfect. If you fail, you fail.

Want a key? We are not punished for our past sins! We are punished for the ones we will commit tomorrow.

Just as the Law of Moses.

Do you believe that I said the first Commandment is charity? Do you understand what that means? Tell me what it means.

It is because you are not fully committed, only curious…. I can’t stand one toe in the water. Zealous maybe! But committed… Hm. Committed enough to stand my harsh? You doubt me. So then you’ll ask a sign. And what will i have but the sign of Jonah? Ok then….

See I am within the waves. Past present future. None to me.

    • O now I recall the major concern this morning. In some sense it’s all rubbish. And we glorify too much the rote law, the words, the objects. Even Jesus, even everything. There is only one God. And he is a warrior. He says what he has to, like Sun Tzu. That’s the issue. Those in the church house worship an idol. They have no love for Allah of Islam, or Arjuna of Krishna. Fools!

Some things are good for a saint, and bad for a man, and bad for a saint in a sinners world. And if I told you this, and people heard it, they would be led astray. Yet you haven’t even bothered to provide your email, as you are faithless. So.

I don’t know what I did to deserve the 10+ attacks you just fired out in a mere 24 hour-span, within…like…50 different comments. I really don’t know how I’ve created so much contention in you.

I also have to be honest and tell you that you that I think you’re losing touch with your religious identity. A strong delusion has been sent on you. I’ve been there, and I see it in you.

You are not a prophet. A prophet does not speak as you do here…

“The problem is, I’m disgusted by humans. I wouldn’t even want to put forth the effort to lead them, if I could, and they aren’t even faithful or reliable so there’s nowhere to rest trust in them, so ofc I couldn’t. Plus I don’t want to. To help them at all, maybe it’s just a lost cause or vanity.”

I don’t see anything godly and virtuous about reading anything like that.

You asked me what I thought charity was? What it meant? It means the Pure Love of Christ!

We are to love; we are in position to judge one another. I’m not even judging you right now. I don’t even know you.

      Please relax.

Happy to continue talking if you do email me.

And thank you for sending me that Youtube link of the NDE experience of Amy Clark, it was absolutely beautiful and brought much peace and joy to my soul.

The pure love of Christ… Doesn’t ask us to be a fucking bitch bending over to the ass rape of injustice. Why don’t you man up and stop accepting injustice like a demon with your fucking excuses using the Lord’s name in vain to excuse your passivity saying peace when there is no peace, relax, take comfort in a cunt, o peace, o Luciferian light.

It might be better for Chastity’s sake for you to go your own way. Else, provide for me an outline with links and images of each of these false prophets you have focused on. I’ve already confirmed all the known LDS denominations are false.

But it doesn’t seem like you want the true church, just contention and your own way, for that is all you see. I smell a lazy Judas. Sloth means not bothering to be grateful and attentive to what you have been given. But you just tossed it aside, hm? You want it all but you give nothing. I don’t see you have what it takes.
