Houses of God pt. 3 “Nauvoo”

Houses of God pt. 3 “Nauvoo”

By 1835, the church was in shambles. The Gentiles had broken the new and everlasting covenant, which SHOULD have brought about the desolation of abomination. (Isa 24:5-6)

However, an intercessory atonement offering was made by Joseph Smith, a latter-day High Priest, as he entered the holy of holies and interceded for apostate Israel in the Kirtland Temple. The desolating scourge was delayed, and a new dispensation was opened up.

Joseph had been told by Moroni, that were it not for Elijah, “the whole earth would be utterly wasted at his [Christ’s] coming.” (JS-History 1:39) In the Kirtland Temple, Elijah appeared to Joseph and Oliver, as documented in Section 110, reiterating the prophecy about the hearts of the children (Jews) turning to their fathers (prophets).

Interesting enough, Elijah speaks about himself in third person, either referring to Elias who had brought the dispensation of the gospel of Abraham, or to John the Baptist (another Elias), who had brought the Aaronic priesthood which was necessary for the church to continue functioning after having had rejected the fulness of the gospel.

All of these things lined up perfectly to allow the church to continue on, operating in a secret dispensation. This gave the church a second chance to repent and reform in Nauvoo.

Like I said, this was a secret dispensation.

After Joseph and Oliver had been visited by Christ and the other angelic messengers, they got Warren Cowdery to write their experience down; and none of them spoke of it for the rest of their lives. It was kept secret from everyone: the Saints, the world, even the other leaders of the church.

It was canonized into the D&C a generation later, once the Saints were doctrinally illiterate and stood no chance in understanding its significance. Now, as we understand the apostasy that took place in 1835, and again in 1842, Section 110 fits perfectly into the picture.

The fulness of the priesthood was lost to the church in 1835.

Only those who had sacrificed all things– already having had entered into the law of consecration– can then be ordained to the Melchizedek priesthood. Because the law of consecration was no longer fully in place by 1835, the fulness of the priesthood was no longer liable to be on the earth with the Saints.

Section 119 talks about the the house of God that had been commanded to be built in Section 115. It was to be built, “for the laying of the foundation of Zion and for the priesthood…” (verse 2) Section 119 also talks about how the Far West House will be built by the law of consecration.

Far West was to be a House of God, not a House/Temple.

A House needed to be built before a House/Temple.

The House/Temple was the commandment given in Section 97, when the fulness of the priesthood was still on the earth.

Section 94 also gave a commandment to build a House/Temple in Kirtland, but Section 97 is referring to the land of Zion and the House/Temple that needed to be built, “for the salvation of Zion.” (verse 12)

Far West House — foundation of Zion, for fulness of the priesthood

Jackson County House/Temple — salvation of Zion, for sanctification

Neither of these were built, yet unlike later on in Nauvoo, this was not entirely the Saints fault. They were facing much persecution and essentially got left off the hook. Joseph Smith and others were put into Liberty Jail in 1839. The Saints were driven from Missouri.

By January of 1841, in Nauvoo, the Saints were given Section 124, which was essentially the deal-breaker. They were given commandments that they HAD to fulfill; and if not, the church would be rejected. Again, a House was commanded to be built; as well as a House/Temple being insinuated. (The House/Temple in which was meant to initially be built in Jackson County [D&C 97], was re-commanded in verses 51 through 55 in Section 124.)

There are only a handful of people that realize the significance of the Nauvoo House– or the boarding house, as it was subtitled.

The reason for this is that in LDS culture we do not have House’s of God alongside a House/Temple. The Mormons have one building for all the ordinances, even though this is not what God intended.

Throughout the entire Restoration history, not a single House has been built. Both the Far West House and the Nauvoo House were never completed. Because of this, they’ve essentially been written out of history.

The church has blurred the House and House/Temples together.

The LDS church has in fact lost virtually all the true meaning behind anything and everything.

This is because the church as a whole was rejected by God in Nauvoo. From then on, the church has not been led by revelation. It’s been left to the devices of man.

Many Mormons are baffled by this prospect. They could never believe it. If God is our loving Heavenly Father, why would he reject the church?

Well… because he said so. I’m not putting up stakes on God’s own declarations. In Section 124:

31 But I command you, all ye my saints, to build a house unto me; and I grant unto you a sufficient time to build a house unto me; and during this time your baptisms shall be acceptable unto me.

32 But behold, at the end of this appointment your baptisms for your dead shall not be acceptable unto me; and if you do not these things at the end of the appointment ye shall be rejected as a church, with your dead, saith the Lord your God.

All the leaders of the church have known that the Saints did not complete the House nor the House/Temple; and that accordingly, the church then must have been rejected with all its dead.

Either through ignorance or wickedness, church history has been rewritten to downplay what really occurred in Nauvoo.

But the truth of the matter, is that the church was rejected. Accepting this is integral to understanding everything else.

What exactly constitutes as God rejecting the church is up for debate.

My personal belief is that the LDS church still remains God’s church. The “rejection” consists of Joseph Smith falling from grace and becoming a fallen prophet; and allowing Brigham Young to take over when BY was a tare planted by Satan– someone whom God knowingly placed into a position of leadership the same way Judas had been.

Allowing JS to lose the spirit and letting BY take over was the judgements of God on the idolatrous House of Israel.

This was the promised result of not keeping God’s commandments as warned in Section 124:

48 For instead of blessings, ye, by your own works, bring cursings, wrath, indignation, and judgments upon your own heads, by your follies, and by all your abominations, which you practice before me, saith the Lord.

50 And the iniquity and transgression of my holy laws and commandments I will visit upon the heads of those who hindered my work, unto the third and fourth generation, so long as they repent not, and hate me, saith the Lord God.

For four generations, the LDS church has not repented of its abominations: the GA’s teach that all is well in Zion while the Saints have continually put their trust in the arm of flesh.

But four generations are up.

The redemption is coming.

How this will occur I will explain in the next and final part of this series.

But before we go there, I want to explain further why I have such strong thoughts towards Brigham Young.

I don’t mean to slam on him just to slam on him.

The only way to understand the redemption prophecies is to first understand what occurred when Brigham Young took over.

Turn to Section 38:

11 For all flesh is corrupted before me; and the powers of darkness prevail upon the earth, among the children of men, in the presence of all the hosts of heaven–

12 Which causeth silence to reign, and all eternity is pained, and the angels are waiting the great command to reap down the earth, to gather the tares that they may be burned; and, behold, the enemy is combined.

13 And now I show unto you a mystery, a thing which is had in secret chambers, to bring to pass even your destruction in process of time, and ye knew it not;

This revelation was given to the newly restored church. The Saints are here warned that the enemy (Satan) is combined with them. Followers of Satan were joining the LDS faith, pretending to be followers of Christ.

Section 38 reveals further that there are people in secret chambers, literally plotting the destruction of the church!

Just as there are people that are righteous and follow God, there are people that are truly evil and serve Satan… They literally do Satan’s bidding the exact same way that the humble followers of Christ fulfill the will of the Father.

Because Satan knew that the church in which Joseph Smith was restoring was legitimately the work of God, the followers of Satan conspired to destroy it.

Section 38 continues:

31 And that ye might escape the power of the enemy, and be gathered unto me a righteous people, without spot and blameless–

32 Wherefore, for this cause I gave unto you the commandment that ye should go to the Ohio; and there I will give unto you my law; and there you shall be endowed with power from on high;

33 And from thence, whosoever I will shall go forth among all nations, and it shall be told them what they shall do; for I have a great work laid up in store, [the work of the Father] for Israel shall be saved, and I will lead them whithersoever I will, and no power shall stay my hand.

The thing that would have protected the Saints from the enemy was the law of the gospel as revealed in Section 42.

This included the law of consecration and monogamy.

But the Saints did not live the law of consecration. Because of that, they could not successfully build the Nauvoo House. Due to this, the church was not able to receive the fulness of the priesthood– which is essential to receive sanctification and to build Zion.

Because the Saints did not receive and live the law of the gospel, they were not protected by the enemy.

The enemy took over the LDS church.

It is fact that Brigham Young was a Mason before his involvement in the LDS church, as well as others in the Twelve.

When Joseph embraced Masonry in Nauvoo, BY and others were delighted.

The seer, the much-beloved Joseph, had his eyes covered due to the iniquities of the people. (2nd Nephi 27:5) Because of this, Joseph completely changed. He was no longer a true prophet of God the way he’d been in Kirtland and Missouri.

He would run around Nauvoo, dressed in extravagance, teaching false doctrine after false doctrine– as well as, of course, secretly marrying dozens of women while publicly denying any such thing. All of this behind the back of his wife and true love, Emma.

He was doing everything a true prophet never would. Yet the Twelve loved this new and improved Joseph Smith. It’s exactly what they had in mind for the future of the apostate church.

God speaks of this Davidic servant while in his lost and fallen state, in Isaiah 57:

Thou hast enlarged thy bed, and made thee a [false spiritual wife] covenant with them; thou lovedst their bed (verse 8)

and didst debase thyself even unto hell (verse 9)

the spirit should fail before me (verse 16)

I hid me, and was wroth; and he went frowardly in the way of his heart (verse 17)

I have seen his ways, and will heal him. (verse 18)

The Book of Mormon speaks of this Davidic servant in 3rd Nephi 21:

9 For in that day, for my sake shall the Father work a work, [work of the Father] which shall be a great and a marvelous work among them; and there shall be among them those who will not believe it, although a man shall declare it unto them.

Understanding that the work of the Father is a future event, makes it easy to realize that Joseph Smith must return in the flesh in order to declare this marvelous work unto the world.

And understanding this, gives a whole new context to the next verse:

10 But behold, the life of my servant shall be in my hand; therefore they shall not hurt him, although he shall be marred because of them. Yet I will heal him, for I will show unto them that my wisdom is greater than the cunning of the devil.

Although Joseph may have been marred by an angry mob in Carthage jail in 1844, we have this promise that the second time around he can not be hurt. This is because Joseph will be a resurrected being– no weapon can prosper against him.

This marring of the Lord’s servant… may also be referring to the spiritual marring that occurred when his eyes were covered, and he went forwardly in the way of his heart. But just as God declares in Isaiah– the Lord has seen his ways, and will heal him.

The Lord’s mercy does not depart from the Davidic servant.

I started this series off with the prophecy in 2nd Samuel 7. Let’s return there and take a closer look at the biblical profile of the servant who is in fact, Joseph Smith:

13 He shall build an house for my name, and I will stablish the throne of his kingdom for ever.

14 I will be his father, and he shall be my son. If he commit iniquity, I will chasten him with the rod of men, and with the stripes of the children of men:

15 But my mercy shall not depart away from him…

This is why Joseph Smith was killed– why he did not redeem Zion as promised during his mortal life. God chastened him using the rod of men. Joseph was not murdered because he stood for the truth, but because he was committing whoredoms.

Joseph Smith truly did much evil in Nauvoo, and he paid the price. Accepting this isn’t easy, but it is nonetheless true.

Just as it will be hard for Christians to accept the Book of Mormon and the revelations brought forth, it will also be VERY difficult for Mormons to accept Joseph’s fallen status in Nauvoo– especially if they believe fervently in the King Follet sermon, or love the temple endowment, etc. etc.

Yet the elect, on both sides of the Mormon and Christian spectrum, are slowly coming to the realizations of these hard truths.

The secret history of Mormonism is coming to light…

D&C Section 1 prophesied of this day:

24 Behold, I am God and have spoken it; these commandments are of me, and were given unto my servants in their weakness, after the manner of their language, that they might come to understanding.

25 And inasmuch as they erred it might be made known;

27 And inasmuch as they sinned, they might be chastened…

The truth of the matter, is that even though the Restoration is a true movement of God, the LDS church has fallen to pieces.

The Saints failed miserably at following the commands of God.

Yet the Saints of today are in no better shape. We are also failing miserably. The Mormon world has been seduced by Satan. For 170 years, the members have been enticed into receiving an evil gift. Our foundation has not been on the gospel of Jesus Christ, but on bizarre temple rituals. A secret combination is amongst us.

But just as mercy was not withdrawn from Joseph, we too may be forgiven.

Because the Saints have all but rejected the law of the gospel– the only thing that would have protected us against Satan– the church has been infiltrated by the enemy. By 1842, it became corrupt.

Like everything else on this earth…

But, God knew this would happen. Moroni saw it too, and warned us in regards to our situation.

Ether 8:

24 Wherefore, the Lord commandeth you, when ye shall see these things come among you that ye shall awake to a sense of your awful situation, because of this secret combination which shall be among you;

Have you awoken to a sense of your awful situation yet?

  1. You mention Section 38, the warning to Joseph Smith. In your article you state “It is fact that Brigham Young was a Mason before his involvement in the LDS church, as well as others in the Twelve.” Do you have any evidence to support this statement, as I have failed to find anything that would suggest Brigham or Heber were masons. You provoke a great deal of thought and have increased my vision of the future. Thanks.

    1. Hi Jim,

The mormon historian Leonard Arrington wrote: “For a short period he (Brigham) had been a Mason in western New York before he joined the Mormons. . . he received the first three degrees.”

However, I do not know where he got that information.

The masonic lodge that Heber C. Kimbal belonged to does not have a record that Brigham was actually part of the fraternity.

So I do not have any real proof.

      Thanks for reading!!
